My wife rarely trsvels to the DZ with me, but I do tell her pretty much what happens- I think it's better I tell her than if she finds out via any grapevines- (although I waited about nine months before telling her about my AAD fire-) I also have a 15 year old daughter (1 of 3 kids-) who is very much into skydivng as a she can be- Can't wait till her first jump.. I am very open and honest with her about the dangers involved. Everyone else I give honest answers to thier questions, and I don't try to BS them at all. They all know what we do has it's risks, and that we in general put a high emphasis on safety. Easy Does It

Canopy downsize progression

Student status- (jump 1-20) Manta 288 Followed by 1-2 jumps each on Sabres from 170 -230 sq. ft. Jump 26- present (96) - Spectre 150 - loaded at 1.2 - 1.3. OOPS - I borrowed a Sabre2 170 yesterday. Nice canopy but sniveled longer than my Spectre does- Easy Does It -
Diversity is good- Keeps this kid from getting bored - Really impressed my 17 year old daughter when she saw a Kid Rock CD in my collectopn- Easy Does It

I love my Z-1 - Opens easy under canopy, and on mine the collar hasn't come unglued, I think thier quality may have improved in this area. I jump mine year-round, although I am considering a Bonehead and face mask for the real cold stuff this winter- Easy Does It

Coldest temp I jumped last year was -18 F. Had two liners under my gloves, and my faceplate iced over the second I was under canopy. Needless to say I learned how to open it very quickly, and I wouldn't jump with a full-face I can't open. Other than that it wasn't bad. We have heat in our 182, and as long isn't so warm we break a sweat on the way up, it's not as bad as some folks imagine- Easy Does It

The answers is simple- Win the lottery - Buy toys- Go on permanant vacation- Go from DZ to DZ in a semi-crappy van and just jump my ass off- Maybe once in a while treat myself to a Motel 6, but only if it's within crawling distance- Sometime during that trip the wife would probably jettison my ass-- (or I'd cut her away-) I'm such aa bastard- Easy Does It

Go with the soft links- The won't beat up your slider grommets, make the slider easy to pull down (if you choose-) etc. - Unless you plan on changing canopies alot- Easy Does It
