im still trying to understand the arguement. From what I can see, having no canopy knowledge whatsoever, is that rounds are inherently dangerous. They are dangerous because obstacles cannot be adequatly avoided, landings are heavy and its use complicates training . Whereas a square reserve will land you where you want and allows for a single method of canopy control to be taught. But in absolute safety, simplicity of education is irrelevant. Preventing fatalities should be the number one priority. Are you more likely to die as a result of having a square or round reserve? The only advantage i can see in having a round reserve is during a two out. For all other malfuntions, will rounds operate in the same manner as squares? That being the survival of the student. Everyone seems stuck on this and that new canopy..but me being a poor underage alcoholic have thought up some real nifty ideas. What about landing on a huge pile of lawn clippings or marshmellows or something soft.... Or perhaps making something like those big air cusions they use for stuntmen..but with tunnels of air gong upward maybe 100m to slow you down.. I figure in this day and age there must be a better way to get down onto the ground. Or bungee chords that you attach yourself onto..like on aircraft carriers to slow the jets down. Or using something like water, but preferably alot less dense, and then have increasing desity levels as you fall through thus slowing you down without killing you. or just falling back into the plane on the way down..but making it simpler so that anyone can do it, maybe using a net.. hi all after reading the posting on rigs and people complaining about prices i thought i might do u a favour. the south african rand is falling and is down to shit low prices. you can get a NEW RIG FOR $2000 rigs complete are R15000 which at 13 to 1 exchange rate means a low price on goods. Got to www.icarus.co.za or to www.jsc.co.za they might work or search for icarus airwear. they sell the heatwave and hornet for about $600 at most when i last checked their website. so if ur looking for a cheap new rig, give us south africans a try. peder
