    Which 7 cell skydiving canopies are best to prepare for base? Which has the best flare? Im looking to load it at about .9 or 1. Figure I might as well get a canopy I can do casual accuracy on. Don't know why but hitting the middle of the crop circles makes me all hot and flustered... Though dont really want a huge ass parafoil. "In one way or the other, I'm a bad brother.     Starting up a uni skydiving club this week. It's Curtin Uni in Western Australia. Need a name. any name. Doesn't need to be whuffo friendly SC: Skydiving club So far: Grave Diggers SC Gypsy Pokers SC both a take on motorcycle gangs, though the second has a chapter in perth and they sell alot of drugs Sheeplaunchers SC The Cleveland Steamers SC Crater In SC Thud SC Monkey Fist SC Non Stick SC Lawn Darts SC Ultra Extra Extremely Extreme SC Just some dodgy ideas. Doesnt have to be related to skydiving at all, though it can be. Need something to make a cool t shirt with and that people will remember.     I've had to use my very individual style of self defense a few times. Eye gouging, putting a boot to genetalia, something heavy or hard to the head, punching for the throat, the odd knee(teeth leave terrible marks) and biting all serve well. Followed by running like fuck. Give running a try. Shoes are much much cheaper.     Is the reserve PC size a compromise between high and low speed deployment speeds?     easy im failing one unit at uni... and earn so little money with part time work im always broke and drink the cheapest shit possible. rowing, uni and skydiving are about all i do. ligthweight chicks in lycra keep me sane.     12 times a week. 3 weights, 2 running(14km each), 2 on the rowing machines, 4 on water (16 - 24 km), and one body weights session with alot of jumping around and push ups. then again im training for national rowing selection trials in april When I cant move a boat fast anymore im going to be the fattest laziest piece of shit. 120kg at least... that way i can slowly increase my wingloading without ever having to buy a new rig. thus out smarting everyone who buys a smaller canopy to downsize....suckers "In one way or the other, I'm a bad brother.     Well hard landing is relative. All I can say is that it hurt like fuck standing that thing up, Should have PLFed... So far in this thread I've heard alot about the dynamics of turbulence in extreme canopy collapses in really bad conditions. hope i'll never get that gung ho that i jump in that shit but in refernce to airlocks I think they may be the best option for where I jump. Consider there are dust devils and what not. On the other hand I dont have $2000 to spend on a new canopy and I dont see tons for sale. Billvon you said some canopies handle turbulence better?     Howdy I landed out on the weekend under a huge ass student canopy and had a pretty hard landing. I think this was caused by the field with cut wheat, some patches are dark earth with the light coloured wheat... It felt strange as soon as I flew over the field. That may be full of shit cause im just a very unknowledgable newbie but im wondering what canopies are more resistant to turbulence? peder "In one way or the other, I'm a bad brother.     As a newbie to the sport much like yourself (if your profile is right) I completely disagree with what you say. Watching 11 year old brazillian kids going in may help none, but watching video of someone with 200 times as many jumps as you go in may bring it home that you are not nearly as safe as you may think you are. You use the word 'learn' alot in your post but I don't think it would be about learning at all. It would be know the consequences of your actions or inaction. It would be about accepting that you can do it all right and still die. And that people far more safety conscious and skilled than you have gone in... As a note I havn't nor do I care to see footage of death but I think it may make some people more safety conscious. But hey, im just a newbie bitch. "In one way or the other, I'm a bad brother.
