What Can We Do About Skyride II
BDashe replied to slotperfect's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
not a troll , it was supposed to be sarcastic since the regular anti-skyriders know my stance. i apologize if the sarcasm didnt come across. Jumpdude- you're clearly not understanding anything I have just said. The only person that makes any valid points is billv, and we settle at a difference of opinion. Spence- one of those times that life jsut aint fair? fine i can accept that, it just shows me you have no rational thought on this topic, and your only goal is to slander legitimate companies to try and burn skyride. kinda sad, really. Will anyone please tell me, as is the purpose of my original post, what and how Cat Aids and the article on humane society have anything to do with skyride? All i hear is distraction, deception, etc from us evil doers- what are you doing now? soooooooo skyride + cat aids/humane society? how are they related in any way and how is it related to this thread of 'what can we do about skyride?' What Can We Do About Skyride II

I understand that side of things, voting with your dollars. but A. Why does everyone attack those that work at the DZ as instructors, and why are the jumpers that have a blast there so evil? just because they dont care that another company that the owner owns did some shady things years back? if so, that is kind of arrogant. wouldn't want to be around someone who is so judgmental anyway. Further, I still do not see and havent heard the connection of the cat aids boogie to skyride and how it is relevent to this thread. it was a completely seperate event from anything skyride has ever done, why is skyride being attached to the cat aids shenanigans? people and staff were acting 100% independant of skyride in all facets of this news article. What Can We Do About Skyride II

bill, i get the skyride thing. i understand how people are upset about it, however it may all be legal. barely, and it may depend on interpretation but it may all be legal. Now what I am talking about here is NOT skyride, it is the dropzones. what has been brought up in this thread are dropzone issues and not skyride issues. Personally, i find the DZ antics hysterical, wish I was able to have made the boogie. obviously the humane society does not find it so funny, and some do gooder dz.commers think the boogie was pure acidic evil. That is fine as well, but whatever your opinion of the boogie is an opinion of a DZ's boogie whcih has no correlation in this case to skyride. Now if say, the boogie was sponsored by skyride and advertised $100 tandems but charged $150, then you have a valid parallel. what happened was some friends took a chicken for a skydive before the cat aids boogie had even been thought of, then the boogie happened, they gave $100 to the humane society a few months late after the society saw a chicken skydiving video by some of the people at the boogie and flipped out. Where is skyride in all that and how is it relevant? So there I was... Making friends and playing nice since 1983 -
What Can We Do About Skyride II
BDashe replied to slotperfect's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
This is my other point- you brand us 'outlaws' because we're all friends, and jump @ a place that is owned by some people that you dont like. It's almost like freakin racism. It's frustrating and I keep posting because you guys have valid concerns with skyride, yet you choose a mob mentality and ignore reason when it comes to the individuals at a dropzone, and the dropzone itself. If some of the things that have happened at the farm happened at one of the ASC DZs, I can't even imagine the wildfire that would occur. The bottom line is both places are DZs where fun and wild sh*t happens, yet you all look down your noses from your high horses at anyone that opts to jump at a rival DZ. MakeItHappen- i read and understand what you said the first time, but thank you so much for repeating yourself. My point is still valid- just because there is the same owner, doesn't mean the place is a pool of corruption. It also doesnt mean that everything that one person may perceive as negative can be written off as 'oh well that's skyride' when skyride has absolutely no influence over the actions and decisions of the individuals in the incidents being discussed here. Why is that so hard to comprehend? The two are unrelated. So there I was... Making friends and playing nice since 1983 -
What Can We Do About Skyride II
BDashe replied to slotperfect's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Exactly my point! They are all different organizations. I've never disputed that there have been shady practices that have happened with skyride, i dont know the fine detials to determine if legal boundaries were crossed, but they were definitely nudged. Now, what i find hysterical is that so many people on here can't decipher between DZ antics of dropzone staff and fun jumpers and actual 'line walking' by skyride. A bunch of sophomoric idiots that I call friends throw a boogie for themselves and whoever feels like showing up. They try to raise a little money for a cause that they tacked a funny name too and ran with, the money exchanging gets delayed and they end up receiving very minimal contributions, less than anticipated, and suddenly the evil skyride is at it again! Skyride has NOTHING to do with the cat aids thing other than being guilty by association. And with regards to cat aids (aside from being a very serious epidemic, use bleach!!!) what do you expect an impromptu boogie at a small dropzone to produce? thousands? it was a boogie first and fundraiser second, not a fundraising boogie. They threw a party to have some fun, they poked a little fun at the misfortune of some cats and tried to give a little back for doing it. Please enlighten me on how saint like you all are to be able to get up on your anti-cat aids anti-skydiving animal pedestals... Now brace yourselves for this- there are actually good people that jump and work at dropzones owned by skyride/skyride owners. It's like you all think there is this huge conspiracy that any staffers and fun jumpers from these dropzones get together and scheme how to screw everyone over on a daily basis. All that is really happening is we just have fun skydiving and partying together like any other DZ. But somehow, we're these banished outcasts because we jump at places founded by skyride and it's owners (who are only guilty of bending the rules a little anyway). All that BS doesn't concern any of us in the first place, because we just want to have fun and skydive together- you guys are invited too! Am I ever going to change anyone's mind? NOPE!!! But when the ridiculous begins to spiral out of control I'm gonna comment and let you know what is REALLY happening from 'the inside.' Whether you choose to believe it or not is a personal issue. What Can We Do About Skyride II
BDashe replied to slotperfect's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
huh... so you're telling me skyride is not a dropzone and the boogie was hosted at an actual dropzone. I'm not quite following what the Cat Aids boogie @ AST has to do with skyride the organization other than the fact that one of skyride's assets hosted an event, i don't really understand how you guys are correlating the two organizations- in this case as skyride putting on some kind of show, when in fact, AST had a boogie. I understand the owners of skyride are the owners of a few DZs, but they are all seperate businesses. example- i work for a hotel chain that is owned by the private equity Blackstone Group which also owns other businesses like houghton mifflin and the weather channel. Additionally they own other hotel chains such as red lion or La Quinta. I still work for my hotel company and have my checks cut from my hotel company, and run promotions and marketing for my hotel. In fact, we compete with other assets within the blackstone group portfolio. I am not an employee of red lion, the weather channel, or more importantly Blackstone group itself. Sooooo, what does cat aids boogie @ AST have to do with skyride? edit: Billy, who are you to judge cruelty on those videos? In my opinion that chicken had the time of its life! it was flying for the first time ever! It got a free tandem! Is it cruel to bring dogs on skydives which has been done numerous times at numerous DZs? or does cruelty only apply to chickens and dead squirrels (hawk/falcon food)? edit #2: Hmmmmmm, after reading the OP, it makes me wonder if any of this recent information is relevent to the thread and should be deleted since this is for skyride issues, not fundraising boogies that didn't raise much money. I'm the FNG in our sales office, been here less than 3 months. We're all getting along pretty well so I have had a couple pranks played on me. So yesterday i get called to the office next to mine to discuss some upcoming business. We finish discussing, and I sit back in my office. Immediately I get a phone call, pick up the receiver and begin to say hello. When i place the receiver on my ear i feel a cold squish. I work in a large hotel, so we have a decent sized spa which we offer as incentive for VIPs coming through with big groups. Anyway, the spa left the sales team a bunch of test products a couple days earlier, so one of my coworkers put about 2 ounces of white handcream on/under my receiver. I looked like Ben Stiller in 'There's something about Mary' I'm plotting my revenge... all ideas welcome.

I have a firebird-R, I was debating the same thing as you being my first suit. Ultimately i got the R because I was able to get it new at a screamin price when birdman ran their xmas special a year ago. It's very easy to fly and beats up on GTi's all day long, even with grippers. I don't fly it enough to be considered even an OK WS pilot (working on that this season

_________________________________________________ So B.Dasche, can you name any brown people who caused the crisis? Blues, Cliff First off, my last name doesn't have a "C" in it so fuck you for getting colorful. Second, your last name offends me as it parallels the devils that caused the crisis according to Brazil. Third, off the top of my head i can't name anyone that caused the crisis cuz i have 0 names of actual proven offenders that caused the crisis. It also depends who you feel like blaming- maybe it is the idiots that signed for the loans they couldn't afford. You know, the people all over the country that read "$2100 per month" and knew they made, oh, i don't know $1500 per month. OR the idiot LENDER from the same part of where ever said SIGNATORY is from that worked in the branch of the bank in the home town of the person that signed the lease- for actually lending to a person that made only 1500 when the lender knew the signing genius just signed for 2100! I don't see color, i just see idiots all over our beautiful country. So sure, im sure some were white with blue eyes, im sure some were yellow with brown eyes, tan with green eyes, or even chocolate with hazel eyes!!! Woa... I just blew my mind! So there I was... I would have to say that it really sounds like you are referring to the Skydiving Centers that are owned and/or operated by the company called Adventure Skydiving, AKA 1 800 Skyride, or Thrill Planet, all based in Cedartown, Ga. There are three that I have found with minimal research that are owned and/or operated by them, Cedartown, Ga, Clarksville, Tenn. and Pennridge, Pa. I would also recommend to stay away from any Skydiving Centers that do business with them as well. I have found that there are several in Texas and California that accept their reservations. Be advised that this company is a very crooked company and the information that everyone is putting out here is very valid information. Yeah... I can't believe I took my sister to jump there. I hated it so much I took my fraternity brothers there, they hated it so much and felt they were so unsafe they brought their girlfriends there a few weeks later to do it again. I really really recommend avoiding it since i did some of my AFF there, have a few hundred jumps there, a few hundred bucks on an account despite living 2,000 miles away cuz i never want to go back. Bunch of scoundrels those guys are... I'll never go back four more times this year at least. Certainly not worth the red eyes and vacation time i earn for several trips annually. It also sucks landing next to the packing area and packing in air conditioning during the heat of the summer. Free bunkhouses are no good either. I wouldn't trust TMs and AFIs with over 10,000 jumps a piece if I were you- no experience, don't know what they're doing... Scary things happen when you own multiple turbine aircraft too, like getting to altitude too fast too many times per day. Their brand new student gear you cant trust either because it is new- you never know if it'll work cuz it is unproven. COUNT ME OUT!!! So there I was... Making friends and playing nice since 1983

My mom says I'm cool... Pirana- SHUT UP! You're letting our secret out! I like to think my Z06 says- 'I'm on the right track, but maybe one day, maybe one day...' I will say, I have met some rich montherf*ckers that just refuse to put 100K on the street- so they settle for a plethora of mercedes, porsches, and some classics from back in the day. cheap bastards... Bill- I'm referring to his actual tax plan that he had outlined, not a $7 bump every week. That's a whopping 0.7 of a single percent credit for someone making 50K a year. Though admittedly- it is a step in the right direction, however what is your take on his statements in the article i posted in the original post? kelp- I know mccain wouldn't have taken this crazy approach to the current situation, maybe taxes wouldnt have been cut instantly but we'd have more in our pockets and less going back to china down the road. i disagree with a lot of his social policies, but to me- he was the lesser of 2 evils. At least he was in national politics and seen all sides of these things from the inside since '82, he may be the maverick but at least he isn't the lunatic. Not that it matters now anyway... just have to weather the storm that is about to hit. So there I was... Making friends and playing nice since 1983

Well, it would have been nice for him to not advertise for years that he was going to slash taxes. Obviously I voted for the other guy because i knew that was horsesh*t from the start. I am not the biggest fan of the way the war(s) have been handled, though they arent NEARLY as costly as the Obama spending, even over 6 years time- and much of that comes back to the US economy. I certainly dont agree with signing up for new credit cards from other countries to pay my other credit card debt off, especially to the tune of a trillion dollars... RIGHT NOW?! Back to my original point though- where is the backlash for this guy? He is losing credibility by the second and no one seems to care because everyone is blinded by his celebrity. this is an op-ed, but sort of what I am saying: http://www.cnn.com/2009/POLITICS/03/27/navarrette.obama.economics/index.html So there I was... Making friends and playing nice since 1983

I guess I'm just really frustrated when the right takes such heat for not following through on their tax promises (though bush2 did make cuts!) yet when one of the KEY issues for obama was to cut taxes for 95% of americans (and I've seen that quoted in these forums a bunch, ahem, billv, ahem ) and he is clearly not going to anytime soon- that it just slides under the radar and no one says anything. For as much as i follow politics, i really really really f*cking hate them. All I can ever be is disappointed at best with these idiots. So there I was... Making friends and playing nice since 1983
