Newt actually makes a really good point: http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/ "Speaker Pelosi's the big loser, because she either comes across as incompetent, or dishonest. Those are the only two defenses," he continued. "The fact is, she either didn't do her job, or she did do her job and she's now afraid to tell the truth." So there I was... +1. Protection of rights is one thing, but reward and encouragement of laziness is the kiss of death in the global economy. I could write a book on how badly unions hinder nomral business practices in hotels. groups can't move or set up their own boxes and equipment. shipped boxes are touched by 3 different people- one to bring it to the meeting room door from teh loading dock, one to bring it inside the meeting room, and one to set it up. Did you know you can make $18 per hour plus minimum tip requiments and benefits as a busser? as in to clear dinner tables... 50k per year plus benefits for clearing tables and STILL they walk out? sorry Biden, you fail to acknowledge the real world we're forced to live in right now. Does Biden have any business experience? I don't know much about him other than he is a mouthy/long winded long time bureaucrat. So there I was... Making friends and playing nice since 1983

A political question, and one which had only one "acceptable" answer. She could either answer truthfully and set off a firestorm, or give some politically correct answer. Looks to me like she was kind of set up there. If he had asked "Do you believe in interracial marriage?" and she had given a similar response, would you still be claiming she was set up? Would people still be yelling about her right to express her opinion if she had come out as a Holocaust denier? Just because we have a right to express our opinions doesn't mean we won't be held accountable for them. Well, if gay marriage had been nationally legal for 75+ years and generally accepted as interracial marriage is today that is one thing, but this gay marriage deal is still a hot topic. Holocaust denial and gay marriage? seriously is that a comparison? About half of us agree with her, and half of us dont in this country. I dont think being held accountable is the right verbiage here as she is being ridiculed and strung up for other peoples' personal agenda. Being held accountable is more like threatening someone's life then having a restraining order. She voiced her opinion on a current political issue, and her opposition is drastically over reacting. I don't think anyone could have predicted or prepared her for the public beating she is taking. It's like publicly supporting skydiving and then having greenpeace try and ruin you personally and professionally because you burn gas for a hobby. A vast over reaction. if she had come out and denied the holocaust then she may deserve this kind of treatment, but that just isnt the case. Did she pose nude? sort of, and yeah bill it is SUBJECTIVE, nothing was exposed to the camera which one could consider as nude as a bikini, someone else, on the other hand, may consider it nude. If i had a picture of me taken while covering my junk with something other than clothing (say... a 3' wrapping paper tube? he he he...) I would say ive never 'posed' nude, i was covered, so was she. Moral hypocrisy my @$$, she was just having modeling pics taken, and now people on the other side of her political spectrum are going to crucify her using any means necessary which is complete BS and makes that sid elook childish. Hopefully she makes millions off this. edit: as ive said, i dont even agree with her, but you lefties are just as bad as Beck's fake @$$ed tears on the air. So there I was... Ah yes, the bible. The world's saving grace, moral compass, and fact filled science book. Crusades were awesome right? Bill, you're clearly missing what I'm saying, my guess is intentionally. from cnn.com: "Although Neal said Prejean "breached her contract" by keeping the semi-nude photo or photos a secret, the only pictures published so far appear about as revealing as the bikini Prejean wore in the pageant's swimsuit competition. " "In a statement given to CNN on Tuesday, Prejean said the photos -- and she did use the plural -- were being used in a "vicious and mean-spirited" effort to silence her for "defending traditional marriage." " If they were a violation of the rules, it is completely subjective which is BS. the photos could just as easily be exempt. Additionally, people are just using her for their own agenda which really sucks. I dont even agree with her political statement, but it's crap that all these 'progressives' are so mouthy and hurtful. Everyone's an a$$hole. So there I was... Making friends and playing nice since 1983

Ahh, yes. I forgot, only those on the right are hypocrites, the left have just progressed passed the point where they were caught. my point with the pregnancy thing is that posing semi-nude is common, artistic, and accepted. It isn't p*rn and evil when a preggo celeb is on the cover of a mag, but suddenly the same picture with a hottie that is buried away is? That type of shoot is normal and not immoral these days, and everyone knows it. Sure she shouldn't have lied, but i mean sh*t, it was obviously worth the risk for her. i know nothing about the rules or which ones she broke, or if she even knowingly broke them. who knows, maybe she wasnt sure so tried not to risk it! I mean basically, who REALLY cares other than someone (Amazon or people in the media) using the poor girl to make a point on a large scale, using her as a vehicle or postergirl for everything that is wrong with people that don't agree with you, when all she did wrong was withhold information. Yet she is paraded as this immoral demon that supposedly represents all that is bad with the religious right. I'm a f*ckin atheist and it p*sses me off! It's an overreaction and people are using her as a pawn and making her life suck for their own benefit. Congrats to those, they should be proud of themselves. Hopefully her career takes off from all the publicity. So there I was... Making friends and playing nice since 1983

Ahhh, the pictures really aren't that bad. Granted I'm not a values voter but i think the media is blowing this way out of proportion. all models and hotties in pop culture do this sh*t, even when they're pregnant! Sounds like you're clawing at things to stir people up that disagree with you on other topics. Is that trolling? I don't know, can someone define what trolling is? cuz I think that's it, but I'm not really sure. "Oh oh.... all of you values voters are getting screwed again" i wonder if that is leading into a troll, but yeah, i guess i wouldn't know so help me out... So there I was... Woa... my first thought is- not at all worth it shah. but you do your thang as that sounds DEEP. My second thought to the O.P.- if you even have to ask the question, you've already lost a man card. Yeah I saw that on Tivo a couple weeks ago @ a friends place. HYSTERICAL. The leg holes thing and fist of death cracked me up too, we watched that scene probably 5 times over. TERRIBLE acting. And to a lesser hilarious but still funny extent- "He was just too good... too experienced to let something like this (a mal) happen..." Any skygods out there that are too good to have a mal on your main? I also liked how the pull up cord is only used to tie the risers together while packing. ...and that they went back and tracked a bandit ultralight flight using the equipment at the major int'l airport. So there I was... Making friends and playing nice since 1983

Call it right wing or not, if you sign up for something that dictates 'this is the penalty for not paying,' you have signed a contract mandating you pay XXX amount given Y circumstance. Sure it's great for the individual idiot that is eyeball deep in debt, but will it fix their habits? I say f*ck em. be responsible and don't buy sh*t you can't afford, otherwise pay the price! I'm sure there are outlying circumstances, single mom of 4 or something etc etc, but for the vast majority: don't be an idiot, stop pointing fingers at the evil credit card companies that were doing you a service which you agreed to, and then ultimately quit relying on the government to bail you out. It's BS. So there I was... Making friends and playing nice since 1983

They should have done this 3 or 4 years ago. where were they then? kind of a waste of time for congressman, im glad we're paying them to do this. Darfur needs action, not protests. Though if the people want to protest and still make noise about it to get our officials attention, great! If it is that important to these congressmen, make it a priority at their workplace rather than trying to regulate the cr*p out of us here in the states. If there were any repub officials there, same to them. take action! "You have to find a way to dramatize an issue," Rep. John Lewis (D-Georgia) told CNN as he was led away in handcuffs. This issue has been dramatized about as much as it could have well before these guys made their glorious stand... So there I was... Making friends and playing nice since 1983

This is where you're wrong- that is in line with a private equity taking over a company about half the time, sure. But for the majority of companies, this is simply not the case, period. Sure, they'll streamline here or there in an economic downturn like right now, but a company who is doing things right would never have 67% extra staff in the first place. they'll have the right amount, maybe a few extra, otherwise they'll go under as labor and benefits is the highest cost in most companies. At the same time, most companies will not run so lean they can't keep staff motivated and will not be successful by overworking hteir employees. Again, you have your outliers but generally if a boss can keep from firing someone, they will, no one gets joy out of laying somebody off. So there I was... Making friends and playing nice since 1983

50% income tax for earners of £150k and above
BDashe replied to shropshire's topic in Speakers Corner
yup, I do. When it comes to the majority of government employees, they're all button pushers trying to make it 20 years to get their pension. All they have to do is just enough not to get fired, and sadly the minimum is what a large enough portion do to gum up the system enough to make it less efficient than the private sector, which is what we lovingly pay our tax dollars for. There are outliers in every aspect of life. examples of outliers are evil execs that get all the public attention, and the few good politicians that are clean and actually trying to make a difference who get no attention. In fact, read the book "Outliers" You'll understand the reality of successful people much better... So there I was... Making friends and playing nice since 1983 -

True, but the goal of a company is to stay afloat and make money so everyone stays employed and more jobs are created... They do mention Ford was not exactly the biggest fan of our Jewish friends... but read all the blurbs. Like POTUS, you can't make everyone happy, and in order to run a tight ship you can't be everyone's best friend. You have to make decisions to keep the company profitable so people keep their jobs and the company continues to exist and/or expand, is that a bad thing? That is the job of the CEO. How would you quantify the best CEOs. Sounds like ya just can't win if you're in that seat. The company does well, you're a greedy @$$hole and a corporate monster. The company does bad, you're a dumb@$$ and should commit suicide because people lost their jobs. So there I was... Making friends and playing nice since 1983

50% income tax for earners of £150k and above
BDashe replied to shropshire's topic in Speakers Corner
Ha ha, very true... as i said it has it's successes, just tends to take a while. Like the normal BS at the DMV or post office. I actually work with government agencies frequently given the region I cover in sales- and let me tell ya, it AIN'T like working with the corporate market. The reason the private sector is better (generally, and yes, my opinion) is that it ISN'T run by a bunch of lawyers, though that seems to be changing with regulation after regulation. With the gov't, no one is allowed to think/act on their own... it's a preset approval process with their interest in mind only (whatever it may be) or nothing. So there I was... bill i never said it didnt work, and in many of those cases they actually brought in private enterprise. Lots of things work and get results- hell my broken watch is even right twice per day! Just saying, when you hear the term 'red tape,' you don't think 'wall street' the problem with wall street is since only the bad guys get the media attention, everyone now thinks scumbag. guess I'm unique? just use two hands, one for the locking button, the other to lift the visor. on either cheek there is a little bit of a lip where the bottom of the visor runs, lift there with the non-button pushing hand. edit- and it is better to be hard to open than tough to lock, esp if you start freeflyin' So there I was...
