  1. Ummm maybe you guys missed the thread topic on top of every post? protesting new taxes undoubtedly on their way? taxes? not spending...taxes? Every politician is going to have unnecessary spending, palin has plenty of incomplete projects to brag about. It'd be nice to see some restraint though. a TRILLION dollars in ADDITIONAL spending? holy f*ck! it is such a large figure it seems no one really cares since it is so incomprehensible. O may as well have made the white house dog a unicorn, everyone would have written it off the same way since it isnt real to anyone. but anyway, back ON topic, we had no taxes to really get p*ssed about while bush was around since they were steadily coming down. So there I was... Making friends and playing nice since 1983
  2. pretty much. they didn't need any additional $$$ anyway, and didn't need the government interfering with their operations, or threatening their execs pay grade, or the negative press from the great O costing them (and everyone else effected) millions for moving last minute meetings all over the place. If AIG went down, a lot of people would have gone down or been damaged badly. makes some sense to step in there a little bit (maybe a lot) i suppose, but just so they could follow up on what they guaranteed! Goldman didnt need anything other than what was legally owed to them from AIG, NOT the government. So there I was... Making friends and playing nice since 1983
  3. fine, have em change course a bit, it'll cost millions of dollars, but sure... ultimately you arrive at the same solution since they'll still be hit by pirates- just stay the f*ck away from big ships! So there I was... Making friends and playing nice since 1983
  4. Ahhh, I forgot. Bill V and his infallible band of robinhoods are never wrong! Of course they'd be in a little bit of trouble if AIG collapsed, a lot of people would be, but that's AIG. Goldman could have pulled themselves out without AIG eventually. Point being, they were one of the few in a good enough position once AIG was able to follow through on their legal binding contracts that they didn't need any bailout money. Never wanted it in the first place. It get's jammed down their throat while they are shaking their heads and waving hands no. Now, they try everything to puke it back on the hand that overfeeds, since that hand can also never be wrong. So there I was... Making friends and playing nice since 1983
  5. I wouldn't say impossible, but i also never said it was cost effective or completely feasible. My point was that staying outside a certain radius of a major shipping lane OR a certain distance from the ships themselves is absolutely doable to insure handouts to your starving people can get through, without inhibiting the fishing grounds. Already boaters have to stay something like 1000 feet from U.S. navy and coastguard ships... havent heard any major fishing protests from that. So there I was... 6. It's like giving a fat guy an extra large pizza when he already has 3 on the table while a starving homeless guy watches from the window. If that is ending hunger, then i guess youre right... So there I was... Making friends and playing nice since 1983
  7. Despite that, the top 10% of earners pay about half the total bill. The top 25% pay roughly 80%. So....no, that argument doesn't add up. +1 G! Those successfull people @ the top certainly don't pay their fair share of our government's expenditures. 80% is nothing! oh you mean 80%, like almost ALL of it... redistribution of wealth is certainly a democratic and captalistic notion right...? Isn't it? In related news, sometime between january 1st and april 15th every year the government gets it's boot an estimated 130% of the way up each its citizens @sses, while simultaneously flipping them the bird. No one is quite sure how this number came to exist, however the figure is unanimously agreed upon. So there I was... Making friends and playing nice since 1983
  8. and you do realize the ship that was boarded, and the one right behind it were carrying tons of food and relief items to the region... the ocean is a biiiiig place, i'm sure the fisherman can find some gilled meals out there. So there I was... Making friends and playing nice since 1983
  9. Quote>A credit of $400 over 52 weeks is not a tax cut, period. it is a rebate . . . So was Bush's mailing of refund checks when he first got into office. But conservatives everywhere celebrated that as a "tax cut." It almost seems like, to conservatives, the logic is simple: Tax cut under a republican - letting people keep their own hard-earned money Tax cut under a democrat - not a tax cut at all, it's welfare, it's stealing food from my children's mouths etc. reply] this is the only section between you and kelp worth acknowledging since you do an extremely great job of editing what I write to fit your agenda(s). Bush's rebate was a rebate, and it was never labeled anything but a rebate because what it was...wait for it... was a rebate! weird how that works, isnt it? it was a sad and desperate attempt at a quick boost to the economy that we all knew would do nothing. I thought that it was ridiculous, but f*ck, I'll take free money just like every other @$$hole in this country. We shouldn't have done it in the first place, but if it is happening and i can't stop it, I'll take it. us righties want to stop "it" before "it" ever happens, the current case is trying to find a way to payback about 600 billion in uneccesary "it" spending we couldn't stop. Back to the Bush rebate, all it did was put a drop of water in the empty pool of debt that the idiot american had gotten themselves into with real estate and credit cards... I did my duty and bought close 2 hours of tunnel time though!
  10. Oh silly billy, where to begin...? A credit of $400 over 52 weeks is not a tax cut, period. it is a rebate, you're twisting my words into your own logic and labeling it mine. You know very well those are two very different things. it's less than one percent of the income a guy making just $50K per year, and it comes in painfully slow installments. The least you libs can do is admit it is a weak sauce attempt at reaching across the isle. I will admit, yeah, it's better than nothing but it's almost a slap in the face it is so petty, especially when real tax cut expirations are in sight. Also, we still have to figure out how to pay back all this money we just borrowed. There are about 300 million people that need to repay it one way or another. Of course there are areas in the military that could use some trimming, it's part of the government right? The war being one of the fattier bites. Once that is over we get a huge burden off our backs. My point is, which is also a matter of opinion, you can't be the world super power and cut your military. They are a major reason why we are who we are today. Plus, thousands of advancements in the military make it to every day use! normal military spending helps many sectors of our economy- funds projects from teh private sector, creates jobs, etc. Saving the whales and giving money to crack heads though... and yes, i am happy to back up our infrastucture projects and services like the mail with my checkbook, those are exactly what i am talking about
  11. O has every intention of INCREASING taxes on the wealthiest americans, what are you implying bill? giving a $20 stimulus check to half of america every couple weeks is not a tax cut, it's a credit and a miniscule one. Sure! get the hell out of iraq! I'm ok with that! spending on the war will be eliminated naturally, but why decrease normal spending on our military right now? 90% of the world hates us because of the last guy, and we just pissed off the somali's again (which is awesome, go SEALs) sooooo we should reduce our military? Did I say play the stock market or get involved in the private sector at all? That is the LAST thing that should happen. I'm saying take a lesson from the private sector as they deal with their mistakes. No companies that are in hot water right now are setting all time records on spending and expenses, quite the contrary, I wonder why that is... I'm referring to the government operating itself in a responsible manner- invest in sectors of itself that are working WELL for the government or the country, and eliminate everything that gets minimal ROI or less with regards to the current economic situation. Pelosi flying on airforce G5s should be one of the first things to go. Taking money away from your people should be pretty high up on the to fix list too. Obviously, that's what the rallys were for. people thinking logically, not with political strategy. So there I was... Making friends and playing nice since 1983
  12. A $400 tax credit spread over a year when tax bracket cuts expire is not a tax cut. Gov't should take a lesson from all the businesses turning themselves around or trying to- make cuts in spending and expenses and invest in sectors that are producing. Not a tough equation to solve. Spending money you dont have is exactly what got the US into this mess. So there I was... Making friends and playing nice since 1983
  13. I know! I'm the worst. I was caught off guard when she came up to chat with us. There is a pic of us on her camera... which i dont have. If my buddy takes her out this week I'll get him to take a picture with her. funny part was he had a DTR talk with a girl he is seeing literally yesterday. And I go, so how will sarah like this? he says "oh sh*t I completely forgot!" Ha!!! I surround myself with the finest of the fine... So there I was... Making friends and playing nice since 1983

  15. Alrighty guys! got back a little while ago from this thing, ha ha ha. That was hysterical. will try to condense this... So the thing started at 11, my buddy and i didnt leave our office til 12:20 with plans to just take a look from a distance at those near pelosi's office and witness a rightwing protest in left wing SFO. We went where we saw TV cameras and it was actually lawyers for immigration law giving a speech on the steps of the city capitol. tiny crowd. So just as we decide to go try and find the actual event, we see a small crowd of peope marching towards us. The "leader" explained they were getting no media coverage, so they migrated to city hall (where my buddy and I happened to be standing) since there were a couple news cameras there. only about 3 dozen people from the teaparty were with this guy. I then look up the street and several hundred- 1000+ are marching our way to crash the lawyers coverage. Highlight was the hot brazilian chick walking up, having nothing to do with the protest, snapping a photo with my friend, speaking next to no english, and giving him her number. I snapped some cell phone pics for your entertainment. pic 1- unruly crowd heading towards us at the capital pic 2- middle of unruly crowd Pic 3- "Don't Tax Me Bro!" sign (play on taze) Pic 4- the "leader's" flag Pic 5- funny USSA sign So there I was... 16. Hmmmm... or it's like a good hardcore porn: you walk away hard and if you're not careful you have a big mess to clean up while trying to explain to friends and family how it happened! So there I was... Making friends and playing nice since 1983
  17. I might be able to answer that for you when i get back out here in SFO... the answer may be " everything!!!" So there I was... Making friends and playing nice since 1983
  18. I'll keep my phone handy and post pics of anything awesome like that I may stumble upon. edit: trophy- that's priceless! So there I was... Making friends and playing nice since 1983
  19. Ha ha ha ha! awesome. That's what they should have called it. No tea bags, just us moderate-heavy right wingers showing up. I'm sure there will be plenty of @ssholes with signs and other sh*t. supposed to just be a rally as far as I know. I think there are like 700+ that happened across the country today. I just found out about it though. We'll be easy targets for the hippies though, we all have jobs and are wearing clean clothes + ties. So there I was... Making friends and playing nice since 1983
  20. Anyone working in SFO today that feels like stopping by Pelosi's office and greeting her with a midddle finger, here is the info. couple buddies in the office are gonna swing by for a sec on our lunch break and show libs we can be annoying too. This is actually all over the country, but i think it is over in all but western states. http://taxdayteaparty.com/ http://events.sfgate.com/san-francisco-ca/events/show/86706743-san-francisco-tea-party So there I was... 21. That, or just deploy a bunch of SEALs to the area and let em go a huntin'! They could use the indian ocean for live fire exercises during BUD/S training. It'd be like a big play ground for the guys in the Teams, ha ha ha! like a pit bull vs. the taco bell chihuahua So there I was... Making friends and playing nice since 1983

  23. that was an amazing incident, can't believe how many actually ricocheted off your face with no damage. SO SICK when you spit those couple pellets out!!!! HA! I supposed getting away with that with nearly no injury could definitely be comparable to skydiving, like how we all 'get away with it' every weekend! So there I was... 24. I disagree to a certain extent, though i think we're kinda on the same page. sure, they need to get the company to change its ways in order to use the money wisely and fix its bad habits, but without restricting its good ones or giving em negative press- that will NOT help the company heal. To me, the bad influences of the gov't always seem to outweigh the good ones on this topic. The politicians can't wait to get up on their soap boxes and chastise companies/executives to look good in front of the mass of idiot americans. Meanwhile, they're not helping the company and they're wasting our money. great example abridged, again, on the daily show where the politicians were desperately trying to hang the new CEO of AIG for the bonuses that were justified via a loophole created by a senator! So there I was... Making friends and playing nice since 1983
  25. No you're totally right billv, and i agree with that. the key point though is that GS did not need the money, so they can give it back, probably could have the day they got it. The companies that need the money... not gonna work so well due to the red tape since they actually are going to use it... So there I was... Making friends and playing nice since 1983
