real quick and back to Obama, new quote from him: "The United States of America did not choose to fight a war in Afghanistan. Nearly 3,000 of our people were killed on September 11, 2001, for doing nothing more than going about their daily lives," said Obama, who has vowed to make Afghanistan the central front in the war on terror. "So let me be clear: Al Qaeda and its allies -- the terrorists who planned and supported the 9/11 attacks -- are in Pakistan and Afghanistan." He is really dedicated to selling the lie! Increasing troops and all... full article: http://www.cnn.com/2009/POLITICS/03/27/us.afghanistan.troops/index.html So there I was... Making friends and playing nice since 1983

You need to get your drinking problem under control, it's embarrassing EVERYONE... stick to reeses. having been on the receiving end of wired and unwired coaching- being wired can definitely benefit, but if the radio goes out and you're dependant on it, you've just wasted coaching time. As with everything in life, finding a balance is always good. radios are definitely not necessary, but if someone that can use it well is present, try it out and see how you like it. I tend to plateau a lot so I'm working on switching my routine around some to stay f-f-fresh. Kris- wanna grab a drink after I get off work? So there I was... Rhys- say the whole thing you are proposing is true- would obama really go public with info like that? Just the fact that our government would be capable of pulling a stunt like that could create chaos here. Even if he were to go 'See? the repubs are the bad guys, but I'll never do it i swear' the fact would remain he still has the power to pull something off like that which would be a disaster for social order in the US. It didn't happen buddy, there are jsut way too many hands that would be involved for any government to get away with something like that. Also, the great O will never prove you right, sorry So there I was... Making friends and playing nice since 1983

Don't get your panties in a bunch because I am calling your boy out. I'm happy to wait and see what happens, but all indicators point to O 'changing' his stance on a few key items... desperate anxiety to slam Obama? Really? If that's your interpretation, I hope the weather is warm on mars. Yeah, I don't agree with the guy's policies, but why not share what the guy is actually saying? Yes, my opinion on his words are at the bottom of the post, but 'desperate anxiety to slam' in this situation is a little far fetched dont you think? Sounds to me like you've got a personal problem... So there I was... Making friends and playing nice since 1983

I'm just saying, the guy was hating on the right wingers because they were giving tax breaks to everyone (including the top 5%)- however the righties generally follow through with reducing taxes and increasing tax breaks. The right hates on obama because he planned to raise taxes on the top 5% significantly. Obama retorts by repeatedly saying he is cutting taxes for 95% of americans, and offering MORE tax breaks for the middle class (most of the voters, funny how that works out) than the other guy- that has been one of his main selling points since he started- universal healthcare and much lower taxes for middle class. Now, less than 75 days in office he is effectively retracting what he has said for 2 years. He steps in and changes a couple easy commander in chief things like closing gitmo and opening the door to stem cell research. You know, to really show us americans how much different he is from the old administration and he has brought change! Then, when push really comes to shove, he starts to shy away from the stuff that really matters and falls back on his party line of tax and spend. Where is the reaching across the isle that was promised? Where are my tax cuts? Truthfully, we all saw this coming from a mile away. McCain may have been no better at reaching across the isle, but at least he'd be more responsible with our money. So there I was... Making friends and playing nice since 1983

Ummmm... My buddy got a blade for his college graduation. None of us had any martial arts experience, so we played tomato and orange baseball while innebriated. Not one of my brighter moments, however we all survived. Not all that relevant to your post, but I do support the purchase of these things, they are very cool esp. if you know how to use it! http://www.realultimatepower.net/index4.htm So there I was... Hmmm... So since our nat'l debt is huge, and the deficit is pretty darn large so we cant even start to pay off the debt... I've got it! Let's promise lower taxes and spend a trillion more!!!! Yes! That's GOT to be the answer! edit: not a jab at you directly kelp, but at what is currently going on

http://www.cnn.com/2009/POLITICS/03/24/obama.news.conference/index.html "...when we all work together, when each of us looks beyond our own short-term interest to the wider set of obligations we have towards each other, that's when we succeed" "We've got to make some tough budgetary choices" "Asked whether he would sign a budget that doesn't include a middle-class tax cut, Obama said he has "emphasized repeatedly" what his expectations are." "I haven't seen yet what provisions are in there," Obama said. "The bottom line is that I want to see health care, energy, education and serious efforts to reduce our budget deficit." Raise your hand if you're surprised no one is going to get any tax breaks. Say whatever will get you elected, and do whatever you want once you are... So there I was... altered it a bit. I worked over in OAK for 2.5 years, not too far from this shooting in fact. That place is rough. If sh*t like this didn't happen, the cops wouldn't be so on edge and some of the other shootings may not have occured. I mean really? popping 2 cops in the face for a parole violation then executing them? No one deserves that. If the people in the area they patrol act like this, obviously police will be much more firm and quicker to use force to avoid dying for a traffic stop... Don't break the law and you won't get shot, how hard is that to comprehend? www.youtube.com/watch?v=ccgXjA2BLEY Yeah... welcome to intellectual america, that's the 510 in a nutshell. http://online.wsj.com/article/SB123791678454427343.html Yet another point for congress and Unions working together to kill our economic process. $1 trillion deficits seen for next 10 years
BDashe replied to TheBachelor's topic in Speakers Corner
Fair enough, but then would you argue that every dime of this stimulus is necessary? like being in afghanistan=necessary, iraq=not, AIG= necessary, but over 800 billion more??? I mean a trillion dollars? that is a fanicful term it is so big. These law makers have no clue they kind of cash they are throwing around. they make a huge stink about 165M (which half has been given back already) in bonuses when they are sh*tting over 6,000x that amount of money all over the place. I agree, some of the stimulus, though it pains me to admit, was needed, but can you really justify a TRILLION in spending in ONE shot? How do we afford it? So there I was... Yeah what he said but dont wait a few weeks unles you prefer fermented soggy mold... best thing to do is cut a hole in the top of a watermelon (i prefer seedless) and keep pouring it in till the bottle is gone or the watermelon doesnt absorb anymore. We'd do it the night before a party in college and it'd usually be ready by party time, tastes good and gets you f*cked up. So there I was... Making friends and playing nice since 1983

That is a very fair argument, and I'll be the first to tell you Im not an Iraq war fan. I'll also agree (which this does contradict some of my previous posts ) that AIG needed to be bailed out. But AIG was $187B of $1T+. I'd say (and yeah, I am just picking a number) but I think a conservative estimate would be half the bailout(s) could be considered optional and not necessary. That's what us fiscal righties are p*ssed about. It is almost an entire duration of Iraq war in one year of extra unnecessary fluff coming from our pockets. And the question still remains- how is that spending justified if, as dreamy said, the $166B annually bankrupt us? If 1/3 of the quantity of NECESSARY spending doomed us, how can we AFFORD 3x that amount? Let alone the reality of what was voted to be spent: how do we afford over 6x the amount? So there I was... $1 trillion deficits seen for next 10 years
BDashe replied to TheBachelor's topic in Speakers Corner
You're avoiding his question/ So his point is- say that the war on all fronts was $1T spanning 6 years ($166B per year). If we can't afford that, how do we afford the stimulus that has been passed that will take less than 2 years to take effect? Also, remember it isnt like we just handed $166B per year to other countries. A very large portion of the war's budget does go right back to us- our troops' salaries/families and all the organizations that we buy most of our military equipment, machines, supplies, security teams (blackwater), and manufactured goods from are from the USA. Anyway, the question is if $166B annually 'bankrupt' us, how do we afford $500B-$1T? So there I was... Making friends and playing nice since 1983 -
not AIG specifically, and not firm details, but this is what i would expect to start to come forth. hopefully details soon on top performers getting screwed will appear: http://online.wsj.com/article/SB123758150842398883.html So there I was... Making friends and playing nice since 1983

Outside sales manager for a large hotel chain. I try to convince people in charge of large meetings and conventions to come to my city and stay at my hotel. If ya need insight into what really happens when evil corporations host sinful events in Vegas or other large cities I can give you the low down, quite harmless and rather necessary; contrary to what our nation's professional popularity contestants think. Got into hotels cuz i didn't know what to do. When asked, I just kept saying I wanted to go/be on vacation all the time... so i do kind of a perverted alternative. So there I was... [email]Sooooo are you for theory A or B of your most recent post? cuz this "can someone explain to me again how getting into HUGE debt through >record breaking spending magically makes the debt disappear? Nope. That's as stupid as saying that cutting taxes will make the debt disappear. " doesn't agree with theory A, and only sort of agrees with theory B. Plus, is the keynsian theory an economic encyclopedia? Proven facts... or a theory? more debt while in debt just doesn't_make-logical=sense+to\me. he he he. edit: I completely agree with your second option btw- make it even out. So there I was... I still can't get over this guy's name. Been reading about him for a while now and i actually never heard it pronounced, or wasnt paying attention when it was. Dont mean to hijack the thread but is this as bad as it looks? John Boehner Back on track, can someone explain to me again how getting into HUGE debt through record breaking spending magically makes the debt disappear? I dont get why there can't be a balance of cutting fat and pumping up programs that generate the most long term jobs. At least we know he's been spending time on the NCAA bracket and his bowling game. I for one, am feeling reassured. So there I was... Making friends and playing nice since 1983 -
