  3. It is better for a thousand guilty people to walk than a single innocent person be unjustly imprisoned. Wrongful imprisonment is a much darker mark on society than are erroneous acquittals. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials!

  6. Am I the only one who sees a bit of inconsistency with God lying to Adam about the consequences of eating from the tree of knowledge? Isn't God supposed to be good? Isn't lying supposed to be bad? I was thinking that there was even a Commandment that prohibited lying. Or, perhaps God was not lying. Perhaps he was just unaware what would happen if Adam ate from the tree of knowledge. So much for the all-knowing aspect of God. If God didn't want Adam to eat from the tree of knowledge, why didn't he just make it impossible? Isn't God all powerful? Maybe the whole tree of knowledge is just a metaphor. Maybe it means that the religious zealots will try to claim that only bad will happen if we use our human intellect to seek knowledge. But the metaphor also tells us that such bad things don't really happen. What really happens is that our knowledge ultimately changes the environment in which we live, for better or worse, and that it is up to us to make sure those changes are positive. Never mind. That's just crazy talk. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials!
  7. About four years ago, I was following car in fairly heavy traffic. My following space quickly disappeared when someone decided to utilize it in order to change lanes. Quickly thereafter, that person had to stop suddenly, and I no longer had adequate space to stop, resulting in me rear ending the vehicle in front of me. From a legal standpoint, it was my fault. I wasn't that happy, since I had been trying to leave adequate distance. However, that is exactly why I pay insurance, so it didn't seem like a huge deal at the time. An ambulance was called (by whom?), but all parties refused medical treatment on the scene. About a year and a half later, I received a court summons, informing me I was being sued for medical damages. To me, the suit appeared o be bogus. In Florida, drivers are responsible for their own and their passengers' injuries via Personal Injury Protection. That being the case, I had no Bodily Injury Liability insurance, and thus no insurance policy to cover legal representation. I talked to a couple of attorneys, one during a paid consultation, and one during a free consultation. The attorney I paid to talk to (who was not interested in taking the case) advised me to settle the lawsuit, since I would likely lose, and legal fees would end up doubling (or more) the amount I would owe. In his opinion it was better to settle first. The attorney I spoke to for free, who was also not interested in taking the case, told me I could fight the suit myself, without an attorney, and advised me of some of my rights, should I do so. Long story short, I successfully defended myself, so the lawsuit ended up costing me only about $20 in postage and printing fees. Your mileage may vary, but I am not a big fan of settlements when I know I'm not in the wrong. Good Luck. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials!

  9. The parts I was referring to (and I don't have my copy handy) were about how the indigenous population must be treated if an army expects their respect or assistance after the battles have been fought. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials!

  11. You might have something there if it could be shown in the lab that random chance and natural selection could lead to the type of large scale evolutionary change you're referring to. Have you ever had a Statistics class? Given the size of the universe, even the things that only have a 0.000000001% chance of occurring will happen many times. Math tutoring available. 13. I didn't see the hyperlinks you speak of, but the "correctly formatted" citations are directly from the text Quade linked to, and not Pajarito's own, unless Pajarito wrote the text at the other end of Quade's hyperlink. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials!

  15. That demonstrates a funamental lack of understanding of evolution. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials!
  16. Evolution and religion are not even similar. Evolution is based on observation and fossil record with mountains of physical evidence supporting it. What physical evidence supports any religion? First, eastern religions are not occult. To claim they are shows an ignorance of eastern religions and/or the occult. Personally, I have never seen any school teach any (non-Christian) religion without also teaching Christianity. Could you please link to or quote the passage of the Constitution that prohibits sending pornography in the US mail? I read the Constitution fairly regularly, and IIRC the only crime specifically mentioned is treason. (I won't even go into the First Amendment interpretations.) I could be wrong, however, so a link/quote would be appreciated. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials!
  17. So we should destroy the entire country to save the Iraqis? The self defense mission is so 2003. Don't forget, we invaded a sovereign nation without provocation. Iraq posed no threat to America, despite all the propaganda. Maybe their leader wasn't such a great guy, but then, neither is ours. Might I suggest picking up a copy of The Art Of War so you might understand why your proposal is a very bad idea. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials!
  18. My point is, exercising one's rights should not be seen as negative or aggressive behavior. It should not escalate the situation at all. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials!

  21. I'm envious of people like you that can try them again and not like them. I haven't had a cigarette in over five years after smoking for 13 or so. I've quit about three other times for extended periods of time, but each time, for some dumbass reason, I lit another. They taste so good and make feel so nostalgic, like back when I was a kid and first started smoking. One more won't hurt, will it? And I would be right back where I left off, like I never quit. who are you?

Dear Mr. Vernon, we accept the fact that we had to sacrifice a whole Saturday in detention for whatever it was we did wrong. But we think you're crazy to make us write an essay telling you who we think we are. You see us as you want to see us... In the simplest terms, in the most convenient definitions. But what we found out is that each one of us is a brain... ...and an athlete... ...and a basket case... ...a princess... ...and a criminal... Does that answer your question?... Sincerely yours, the Breakfast Club. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials!
  23. It *could* have been about an 800-way speed star attempt at rantoul by going out the specially installed air stairs in the back and gone in General. Or how if a Vigil gets within 100yrds of the new plane it automatically freaks and fires. Or how you can't travel with the new Vector magnetic riser covers or it'll freak out the fly by wire. Both of those could have gone in G&R. Your previous post in this thread seems to indicate this belongs in incidents. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials!

  25. If people are constantly misunderstanding you, perhaps you should choose your words more carefully. And use the return key once in a while, for crying out loud. I know of no other way to understand your thoughts than to just look at your words on the screen. If my reply seem contradictory, it is probably because I disagree with your post, and I'm bored. I'm just shocked that exercising ones rights on a regular basis seems to some to be radical behavior. Have we really slipped that far down the slope? Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour!
