Indeed, truly the pinnacle and epitome of a BASE jumper hero, inspiration and ambassador. Plus, I was reminded of White Goodman of GloboGym fame in Dodgeball (the hair, the looks, the girls, etc). "The evil of the world is made possible by nothing but the sanction you give it. Comfortable

A wise man once told me that the jump wasn't over until you were at home drinking a beer. Ah, that's the key... many skydivers worry about the extreme scarcity of freefall, going from 2 minutes to 2 seconds, but this more than makes up for it, since the jump lasts for hours. indeed, the hike out should not be taken for granted. I didn't know there was a whole steaming volcano in the deal. It woulda been cool to have some ground video of you flying smoke with the steaming volcano in the background. Then you land and there's a huge crowd cheering you on. Hey, did you get chased by any huge boulders by any chance?? "The evil of the world is made possible by nothing but the sanction you give it. WANKERS

Gentlemen, if the term applies, surely we can resolve our differences without cursing or personal attacks? Or maybe not. Apparently, the gloves are OFF. "The evil of the world is made possible by nothing but the sanction you give it. " -John Galt from Atlas Shrugged, 1957

    Surviving BASE

IMO, I would say it's almost like that, except cumulative. Just like if you flip a coin ten times, it IS possible to get 10 heads, but highly unlikely (around

    Surviving BASE

Jaap: What if we are operating with the assumption that each subsequent burn in hurts the image of sport, effectively hurting the sport itself through increased attention, etc. If you don't quit, you then know you are or will hurt the sport out of your own selfishness? Is that acceptable? Also, if you are with your crew when the guy from the future tells you this, how many will keep jumping with you? 12. Could someone post a couple pics demonstrating this split stowing method? I'm having trouble visualizing what this is supposed to look like. So the last stowage requires two stow locations, one for each riser. Thanks. "The evil of the world is made possible by nothing but the sanction you give it. " -John Galt from Atlas Shrugged, 1957
  13. I'll be out in that area at about the same time, so perhaps if a few birds show up you can take a break from the surfboard for a few flocks. "The evil of the world is made possible by nothing but the sanction you give it. " -John Galt from Atlas Shrugged, 1957
  14. Hell no. This is base jumping. You bought your gear, and its your jump; you're life is on the line. If you can't figure out when it is safe for YOU at YOUR SKILL LEVEL to jump then you shouldn't be in this sport. People seem to be losing this quality and the plus side is that they will be weeded out Darwin-style as long as they keep jumping. That's a really good point that is completely lost on the skydiving community, unfortunately. I think it is just as applicable there as in BASE. Yea, good luck with that, let us know how it goes. We expect a full report with pics or video within 1 week from your return. "The evil of the world is made possible by nothing but the sanction you give it. " -John Galt from Atlas Shrugged, 1957
  18. Honor your commitents. All they can ask and expect from you is for you to keep your word on any contracts/agreements. just my 2 cents. "The evil of the world is made possible by nothing but the sanction you give it. " -John Galt from Atlas Shrugged, 1957
  19. No, that sounds like a great idea, given that those moderators whose info is being given out agree, and I'm sure they do. Further I am also sure the students will be happy to have that info as a local reference to refer to in case of questions. 20. Just curious on how this will work to stop 'trail-blazing'. I'm not sure I see how it will work yet, and am apprehensive over certain information-sharing and privacy issues. So you want manufacturers to hand out the private contact information of their clients to you, so you can then hunt those people down and give them advice? 22. My guess is that when you overspeed the wing enough (such as at the bottom of the dive) it will temporarily create enough lift to climb. As you can see from my profile I'm nowhere near knowing this as fact from experience, so it's just a good guess that supports marks' statement. Maybe it will show up on Mythbusters one day so we all know either way. edit: kinda like when you strap rockets on a wingsuit it can fly level or climb, or with enough thrust a pig or just about anything will fly. and just to stay on topic, i think the new weight rules will be interesting. Mental Preparation

"The fear of loss is a path to the dark side...Rejoice for those around you who transform into the force. Mourn them do not. Miss them do not. Incident Report

My guess would be for significant delays where aerodynamics come into play it would be wise to have skyboard experience. It wouldve been cool to have some type of ramp setup at the exit, but I'm sure you were short of snow as it was. -T "The evil of the world is made possible by nothing but the sanction you give it.
