  1. Good story here... I'm told it involves a jealousy meltdown, guns, and alcohol. PM Proz for details or give him a call. I don’t care to post second hand info, but, maybe someone else can?? Vicky was a nice gal. She has not been seen for quite some time. Birdshit & Fools Productions "Son, only two things fall from the sky."
  2. Read my article in Parachutist on Tinnitus. Plane noise, wind noise, drunken babbling (Bill) are all harmful over time. My dad is 85 and lives 300 miles away. I can't talk to him over the phone because he can't hear me. Hearing loss is a tragedy and what's worse is that it can be prevented in most cases. WEAR EAR PLUGS! Using hearing protection you like will make the sport better... skydiving, motorcycling, or whatever. IMHO as always. Birdshit & Fools Productions "Son, only two things fall from the sky."
  3. Yah Right?? See if you can get my wife to buy into this. Otherwise, it can only end up poorly for me!! Birdshit & Fools Productions "Son, only two things fall from the sky."

  5. Let's see if I have this right... You're pissed because you'll have to pay what the rest of us pay for a good canopy? This clearely was not a bait and switch ploy to steal your money or make you pay more than you wanted. Honest mistakes happen! Take the high road here and say "I'm dissapointed, but, I'll live"! Move on! Smile! (and all that shit) Keep your eyes open, good deals do come along. Birdshit & Fools Productions "Son, only two things fall from the sky."
  6. 200.... nice round number?? Anyway, the best way to deal with a snag point is to eliminate it in advance. Maybe make a cover that will help eliminate any snag points? I was once told by a very expeienced camera flyer... "It's hard to cutaway a helmet with a broken neck"! Birdshit & Fools Productions "Son, only two things fall from the sky."
  7. Which would make it third hand knowlege to us readers... is there any accurate, verifiable information available? Birdshit & Fools Productions "Son, only two things fall from the sky."
  8. Promotions to increase business revenue?? Jerks!! Birdshit & Fools Productions "Son, only two things fall from the sky."
  9. Skyvan Exit from NPSL weekend at Waseca, MN. Great time... thanks to all the folks at Waseca. Birdshit & Fools Productions "Son, only two things fall from the sky."
  10. It's the second thing he was told!!! The first thing he was told is that, at 25 or so jumps, we were NOT going to second guess his decision to cut away that main.
  11. My guess is that if you have 150 jumps and are flying a camera, you're also downsizing rapidly??? Bill... You may want to try some gloves with the fingers cut off to "ease" your way into jumping gloves. Birdshit & Fools Productions "Son, only two things fall from the sky."
  12. Thought I'd post this here for discussion... I shot video of a new A licensed jumpers first four way yesterday. On opening, he had some line twists, but, worked thru them. After talking to him on the ground, I suggested he have someone watch him pack. I meant to do it myself, but as we often do, I got busy with other stuff. On his next jump, another 4 way, I watched his deployment as his canopy opened and began to turn to the right. The turn got faster and faster. He chopped it… good reserve… landed on the dz…all is well! I followed his main and D-bag to a nearby bean field and retrieved it. Upon examination, it was obvious he had not set his brakes correctly, routing the toggle thru the ring before the loop. When asked, he said that’s how he always did it. It clearly caused a premature brake release resulting in the spin. He was debriefed by several instructors more experienced than me. And, will be retrained on packing. For discussion…. I blame myself for not following thru with observing his pack job!! I could have easily caught this problem by spending 10 minutes with this jumper. I would even bet this problem caused his earlier line twists. Bad Me!!! Birdshit & Fools Productions "Son, only two things fall from the sky."

  14. Oooops! Um.... I was talking about those backwards cars in Brittan and Australia… Yea, that’s the ticket. Birdshit & Fools Productions "Son, only two things fall from the sky."

  18. I've been following this thread... good reading. I have a question for you. You say you have the blessing of the S&TA, DZO, and others?? I'd like to hear from them?? Did they OK your camera jumps or say something like .... "For the 12th time, you need 200 jumps, but, if you insist on jumping that damn go pro, go ahead and kill yourself!" There is a difference! Based on your posts, I just have my suspicions. I’m no sky god and certainly no expert, I just see a pattern here. For your sake and the jumpers around you, I hope your version of the story is accurate. If it is, find a good camera flier and learn from them. Blues!! Oh... I love the whole slam Twardo part above!! Excellent! Birdshit & Fools Productions "Son, only two things fall from the sky."
  19. .... with the Shell team flying tight circles around your canopies?? Birdshit & Fools Productions "Son, only two things fall from the sky."
  20. How about change the SIM to 200 + Camera training? That would make more sense. Either way, 200< should be the minimum. Birdshit & Fools Productions "Son, only two things fall from the sky."

  24. Saturday, while waiting for the plane, all the jumpers on the load agreed that we should land to the north. Sometime between then and landing, the winds changed 180 degrees. Every jumper on the load saw the numorous wind indicators had done an about face. The first jumper down maintained his approach pattern and did a downwind landing(thanks Bill). Everyone on the load followed suite. One person after another had long, fast, soft, surfing landings down wind. It can be done!! Birdshit & Fools Productions "Son, only two things fall from the sky."
  25. Hillhaven Ruby's Riley Tomorrow I have to have Riley, my 14 year old German Shorthair, put to sleep. The cancer has gotten so bad that she is having trouble getting comfortable. She is one of the best dogs I’ve ever had the pleasure of hunting over. We never lost a bird when she was near! She has a great personality and loves people. Basically, she’s a 60lb. lap dog that can hunt! I still have Ruby (10 years old today), a puppy from her last litter. Ruby, who has never left her moms side, will miss her. Ruby and I will take Riley’s remains to this little spot up in Northern Minnesota where she used to love breaking up grouse coveys. If she could talk, I know Riley would tell you that that spot is her “Doggy Heaven”! Blue Skies Riley Birdshit & Fools Productions "Son, only two things fall from the sky."
