Although the OP's original posts leaves us with the impression that he was unaware of the correct EP's, at the end of the day is sounds like he did the right thing under the circumstance(dealing with the total mal).

Injuries...and Lessons learned
skyjumpenfool replied to k2everest's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I had the opportunity to ride a streamer in from 500 ft. I'll not bore you with all the details, but, I had several seconds to get all my affairs in order, only to be spared by dumb luck. Lesson learned? Don't do CRW below 1500ft. Birdshit & Fools Productions "Son, only two things fall from the sky." -
Doc - he didn't name you. There have been dozens of posters over the years in the same place as you. A couple are still on dz.com but now have substantial number of jumps, others are dead or no longer jump. Yes at the moment you are the poster child, next year will be someone else. The only way to stay permanently in the limelight is to make claims of exceptional ability and then go in the next weekend, so far there is only one member of that club. ... and, there's always time (unless you become a permenant divit somewhere) to change your ways. People around here don't hold a grudge. I for one plan on being somebody when I grow up. Birdshit & Fools Productions "Son, only two things fall from the sky."

What to do when self regulation isnt enough?
skyjumpenfool replied to JerseyShawn's topic in Safety and Training
+1 Nicely Done! And again, I applaud your decision not to name names until all other courses of action were followed. Win-Win and nobody got tossed under the “Virtual Bus”. Chuck… hope I spelled everything correctly this time. Blues. Birdshit & Fools Productions "Son, only two things fall from the sky." -
I enjoyed this as well. +1 … that's almost as bad as being a dues payin mother fu@&er. I still think you should have invited him in to do a guest lecture to the FJC students. Again, with video for our amusement please... Birdshit & Fools Productions "Son, only two things fall from the sky."

What to do when self regulation isnt enough?

Let's try a new game for these posts.... Name the DZ and I'll personally call the DZO to get his response. If the DZ is USPA, I'll gladly conference the call with the head shed so we can discuss the BSR violation as well. Before we through the DZ/DZO to the wolves, is it possible this person is pulling your chain, or just plain Full of S^1T. I'd hate to see a good DZ/DZO be outed in a public forum based on the ramblings of a braggart. Good call not naming names. But, I would check out his story with the DZO. -
So, Twardo, surely you went and sat your old bag of bones down behind the tandems with him? At an NPSL meet down in Iowa a couple of years back, the winds were cooking all morning. Just as the teams were boarding the plane, they announced the wind speeds were up. Everyone on the load just looked around at each other. No one said a word and reluctantly, they started to load the plane. All of a sudden, one of the gals on the load said, It’s too windy for me", and did not board. Jumpers started falling like dominos. The plane did not fly again that weekend. Sometimes it just takes one person with the guts to admit their limit. Birdshit & Fools Productions "Son, only two things fall from the sky."

You guys screwed up. You should have at very least put him into an old military rig with a lunchbox reserve. Maybe an old Bell helmet and some para boots. Surely one of your old CREW dawgs had an old ratted out rig around? Short of accually putting him on the plane, I'd have seen how far this Woofo was willing to go. All in good fun, of course? Next time, at least get them on video for our viewing pleasure. Birdshit & Fools Productions "Son, only two things fall from the sky."

when is a hook knife required these days?
skyjumpenfool replied to mixedup's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I break into churches with hook knives also. O...K.... Anyone want to explain to pyrotech and the rest of the twist off generation what a church key is? Back on subject... Twardo, have you ever needed a knife on a flag/banner jump? Birdshit & Fools Productions "Son, only two things fall from the sky." -

How about a two out situation? You could do a Main/Reserve side by side, plane, or a down plane? That'd be possible for 1 person. No? Birdshit & Fools Productions "Son, only two things fall from the sky."

when is a hook knife required these days?
skyjumpenfool replied to mixedup's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
When is a hook knife required? On every jump. I have one on every rig and 3 on my CRW rig. .... well, to be accurate, two hook knives and one church key. Birdshit & Fools Productions "Son, only two things fall from the sky." -
Huh? I know this is a repost, but...... Birdshit & Fools Productions "Son, only two things fall from the sky."

How many landings in a jump plane
skyjumpenfool replied to Krip's topic in Skydiving History & Trivia
Doing the Flag jump at the Cambridge Air Show back in the day. From a BT-13 (see attached). I had the canopy open on jump run and was climbing out when the pilot started dipping the wings back and forth? When I looked at him I could see him screaming at me. So, I crawled back in and closed the canopy. The ground crew radio'd up that ground winds had picked up and I was not to jump. At first I was really disapointed. But since we had to fly around for a while until the Christian Eagle team finished, it was all good. I really enjoyed landing in the plane that day. Rules for jumping with a camera
skyjumpenfool replied to xtheowl's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
bears repeating. +1 And.... I'd like to stress that learning to be a camera flyer should include many training jumps before you ever buy a camera. - learning to fly your camera wings w/no cameras - learning to use your ringsight (just the sight w/no camera) - learning to fly camera slots. Again, w/out a camera. -etc.... Birdshit & Fools Productions "Son, only two things fall from the sky." -

It's a shame I'm wearing that hat, because I think I had hair back then...... Add Rick Truacks (sp?) right behind Hayden in the blue jacket, Mike (Mobie Mac) McDonnald behind Rick. Swede = Don Gilshimer (sp?) Stan = Stan Kronister Who is right behind Stan? I believe this was taken in the plane on the way home from one of the airshows?? It looks like we hadn't finished the keg yet? Birdshit & Fools Productions "Son, only two things fall from the sky." -
Mandatory AAD in the US ?
skyjumpenfool replied to piisfish's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
It's been a while since I was there...I don't carry a logbook so Buzz called my home DZ to see if I was current! I had it on speed dial, just handed him my phone. and your home DZO's reply should have been.... "Twardo? Yeh, I know that guy. He was in our FJC last week. Not much of a student though, he's got a real attitude problem. You know the type. Is he still trying to jump that Katana 135. He doesn't really have 200 jumps you know? Rules for jumping with a camera
skyjumpenfool replied to xtheowl's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Those are all very good points. However, remember that the 200 jump recommendation is a "minimum" recommendation. You should start your camera career no sooner. And, with that in mind, I’m going to be a camera flyer when I grow up! Birdshit & Fools Productions "Son, only two things fall from the sky." -

+1 ... although, jumping from a plane is jumping from a plane. Today or 35 years ago, it's all good! I'm a little supprised my previous post got deleted?? But, that's the way of the world. Birdshit & Fools Productions "Son, only two things fall from the sky." -

Well said Sandy! DocPop... Attached is the updated file I developed and posted a long while ago. I've made one major change to it... see if you can figure out what it is. You're an inspiration! (that's not always a good thing) Everyone else.... enjoy Birdshit & Fools Productions "Son, only two things fall from the sky." -

I think I have the answer to your questions... 1. You do NOT have the jump numbers! 2. You do NOT know what you don’t know! I know that's not what you want to hear. But here’s something else you don’t want to hear. You don't have any respect for people who are trying to explain this to you. That's what troubles me the most. After reading a few of your posts, I looked at your jump #’s and canopy choice. Wow! There are people, way more qualified than me, trying to tell you you’re in over your head. And you’re not hearing them. You said you were waiting for someone to call you out on your flying… Put my name on the growing list of people who have called you out. My reason for calling you out… your irresponsible choice of canopies and your complete disregard for the people who are willing to say something about it here on this forum. Please do NOT take this as a personal attack towards you or your ability. Instead, maybe consider it as advice worth exploring. Advice given in the spirit of learning. As always… IMHO Birdshit & Fools Productions "Son, only two things fall from the sky." -

skyjumpenfool replied to mjosparky's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Very well stated. My old 252 (from the 70's) sank like a brick. It did not have much forward speed. My Stiletto 135 on the other hand, is a rocket ship by comparison. However, there are pleanty of canopies out there that are way faster. I think the difference is the performance and sheer numbers of fast canopies in the sky today. Which means simply that... We cannot play by yesterday's rules. as always IMHO Birdshit & Fools Productions "Son, only two things fall from the sky." -
Well, some of us learned the hard way that not all canopies play well together. But, we learned. Birdshit & Fools Productions "Son, only two things fall from the sky."
