Starting with a novice team has its advantages. They will not be as picky about your early videos. They will be struggling with problems of their own. They will teach you alot!! They tend to move around and not always together. You'll be challenged to stay with them and keep them all in frame. When the group spreads out, you need to go up (wide shot). When they manage to stay together, you can get close and practice flying the "Burble". Use a good ringsight and audible altimeter. When starting out, pay for your own practice jumps. Remember, the teams are paying for all their jumps. Have fun.... that is the best advice I can give you. Birdshit & Fools Productions "Son, only two things fall from the sky."

Any pictures of yourself while working ???

POV of the camera maybe? He may be clear and just reaching for that handle. Hard to tell from the pic, but, point well taken. -

Uhmmm? I believe it is possible to have fun (Fun Jumps) while doing the A Card stuff? Ask around... find a coach that knows how to do this. Plan the dives to have fun. Include the A Card progressions. Welcome to the sport!! -
Crown Prince Cheats Death over Dubai!!!

good one for the DSE's camera incident list I wasn't going to reply and I know I will get attacked for my position but no, it's not a good one for the camera incident list. Almost nothing on that list is good for a camera incident list. Actually this one is good for an assault charge. This has nothing to do with a camera and everything to do with someone intentionally placing others in reasonable apprehension of immediate bodily harm for his own amusement. ........................................it wasn't a collapsible pc incident. No one is blaming the cameras for any of the incidents on DSE's camera list. We are simply trying to show (thru data) that cameras can and have been "links in the chain" of events that can cause injury and death. If you are going to jump cameras, you need to understand this. We all agree with you that the cameras are not to blame. But you would have to admit, they can be a link in the chain. -

That's a good way to break both legs.... or to get both legs broken! Birdshit & Fools Productions "Son, only two things fall from the sky." -
I didn't become vocal on this issue until I found my name on Gibby's hit list. I will admit, I don't know how I got there, but I've had a lot of fun with it. And, I'd agree that maybe we've (myself included) gone a little too far. I agree with Nomiss (above) that sitting back quietly allowing these people to have their way is not the answer here. So, moving forward, what would be a good strategy for the skydiving community to adopt to attack this issue? Maybe some of the legal types could chime in here? If you follow this groups adgenda, it's clear they are targeting our sport. This is not a local issue. Birdshit & Fools Productions "Son, only two things fall from the sky."

I got the perfect solution for you.... A gift card for B&H Photo or National Camera, etc.... Camera setups are pretty personal and usually custome built. I wouldn't try to make camera decisions for anyone. Or, Get ahold of a Jump Suite manufactuer and buy him a Custom Camera Wing Suite Certificate.

So how old is too old for a used rig?
skyjumpenfool replied to scottf1887's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
One other consideration.... Some riggers have their own standards on what is too old to repack. One local rigger here refuses to re-pack any rig that is old enough to drink. Always check with your rigger. Birdshit & Fools Productions "Son, only two things fall from the sky." -
I'm more surprised that no one has come up with a snag free mount for the go pro. It can't be that hard? Birdshit & Fools Productions "Son, only two things fall from the sky."

The big deal is they didn't pay the photographer or the owner of the photo. If you're a carpet installer who lays carpet for me and I don't pay you, is that a big deal? Birdshit & Fools Productions "Son, only two things fall from the sky."

Opposite of downsizing too fast?
skyjumpenfool replied to mereanarchy's topic in Safety and Training
Two points here... A. If the winds are enough to ground you on a lightly loaded canopy, it's probly to windy to jump regardless of your wing loading. Although, everyone has their own limits. People who jump heavier loaded canopies generally have more jumps/experience/skill. That's what allows them to jump in stronger winds. IMHO B. No one is saying a progression to a smaller canopy is a bad thing. Just make it a conservative progression. If you were uncomfortable with the Sabre 2, try it again in another 50 or so jumps. When it feels right, go from there. Birdshit & Fools Productions "Son, only two things fall from the sky."
