Should James Holmes face the Death Penalty if found guilty?
jgoose71 replied to Skyrad's topic in Speakers Corner
So the death penalty only for people who choose to serve? Stay classy.... "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss." Life, the Universe, and Everything -
And what exactly is the over site committee supposed to be for again? News flash, there is all kinds of things going on that the general public doesn't know about. The only real question is if the programs are best served if the whole world knows about it. That's kind of the basis for having security levels such as confidential, secret, top secret, or even the unheard of TS/SCI. And as we saw with the whole water boarding thing, if Nancy Pelosi doesn't agree with it (even though she agreed with it in the beginning) she will spill the beans to the press, no matter what the classification. If you're a male and you're voting for Obama
jgoose71 replied to Arvoitus's topic in Speakers Corner
+1 While I disagree with the OP, I don't think anyone is out to intentionally destroy America, It's really easy to see what happens when you have a society that hires people for who they are rather than if they are qualified for the job. Just look at Russia from the 70's to present day.... "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss." Since Remster isn't elaborating, I guess I will. And since Streetscooby seems to be the most economic minded of all here in SC, maybe he can correct me if I am out of line in any of my analysis.... The whole premise of the PDF is that the rich do not drive the economy. All I can say to that is "No shit Sherlock, way to state the obvious...." The Economic factors that do shape the Economy are GDP (Gross Domestic Product) and the Unemployment rate. The spending of the rich will follow these factors. The PDF only tracks tax rates and spending by income level. It does not take into account any other external factors. This is key. Top economic analysts would refute the findings. What they don't show you in the findings is that the U.S. had a Monopoly on manufacturing from 1945 to the mid 70's. The tax rate could have been 99% and we still would have made a killing because until Europe and Japan (And yes, even Hong Kong, Singapore, and Malaysia were devastated by WWII, Japanese Occupation you know) were in shambles. The U.S. manufacturing capabilities were in full swing. This is what brought us out of the Great depression. 20 years later in the 60's and 70's Europe and Asia had rebuilt their infrastructure and we were stuck in Vietnam. that brought us to the Carter Administration in the late 70's that was a complete failure. During the 80's Regan dropped our tax rate to allow us to compete better with the foreign economies, but the 80's also brought us NAFTA, with was the start of the outsourcing of jobs along with Amnesty for the first group of illegals, which started to undercut the American worker. The 90's brought us the .Com boom. While all of our manufacturing was being shipped over seas, everyone became a small business owner. We were able to further cut the overhead of business even during the Clinton tax hikes by buying products from over seas, store them in warehouses in the middle of no where and ship the products on demand via the internet. After we saw as much growth as we possibly could with that, then came the housing bubble in the 2000's. People making money off of selling houses over and over again because congress forced lower lending standards and it was easy to get money, until the books didn't match the inventory. Basically, since the 80's we've been living off of market gimmicks once our monopoly on manufacturing ran out. The rich spend by the economy. They sock away money when they can and spend when they can. The economy does not follow the rich. What the rich can do for us though is hire us to work for them. They can only do that when they feel that they have money to spare. When they do that it increases the GDP. because the average person no longer saves. Advent of Social Security and the "Got to have in now" attitude brought on by the baby boomers of the 60's have pretty much ended the idea of personal responsibility. That is pretty much America's financial history in a nut shell. It's also why I think that this study is a colossal waste of time. "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. Did we read the same document??????? Either we read different documents, our level of understanding is different, or you did not read the document at all. Care to elaborate? After all, that is the purpose of SC corner I thought, to have a discussion. Can't discuss much on your last post..... "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. To the OP and every one else in this thread: What the fuck does this report have to do with the price in China? After reading all 48 pages of this report and your responses, it's clear no one knows what the fuck they are talking about. No where in the PDF does it talk about tax rate and the jobless rate. No where in the PDF does it talk about current affairs that might effect jobs. No where in the PDF does it does it talk about jobs in general. For those of you that don't know, it's the jobless rate and entitlement programs right now that are having the greatest effect on the economy. It does however, go into great detail about how people who have jobs spend and dodge taxes. Get a clue, you worthless dumb fuck scholars. You can't spend unless you have a job. End rant..... Electric cars = 3112 sales ,Ford F series = 55025 in June

Figures. Birds of a feather, and all that. And in all of those pictures I noticed no one was shitting in the streets, setting things on fire, or destroying public property. I also noticed that everyone was clean and showered and that there were no rape trauma tents set up in the back ground. Interesting.... Birds of a Feather.... I wouldn't call 300 miles a short commute. I could take a car like that our for a day. Like I said, the car costs as much as a luxury car, but if it feels and drives like a luxury car, people will buy it. People still buy the BMW M6 right? It cost more and is even less practical. And as I stated earlier, in three years you will see cost go down and range go up dramatically. "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. Well, I got to throw my 2 cents in to this. I identify with the "Tea Party" but I also think that electric cars are going to be the way of the future. There are some things that were missed in the articles, particularly about Tesla and battery technology: Tesla- The article only accounts for cars paid for and on the road. Tesla sold it's first 5,000 Model S's a while ago and they will all be delivered by the end of the year. 20,000 more will be sold next year, and if you don't act fast, those will be gone also. Battery Technology- While electric cars are expensive now, in the next 3 years you are going to see them cut in half. What does that mean? A $50,000 Tesla will go for $35,000 and the top of the line $90,000 will go for around $65,000 (rough estimates based on battery size and cost of a roadster battery at $40,000). This is because of a recent breakthrough in anode / cathode technology. http://www.forbes.com/sites/yonicohen/2012/03/21/envias-energy-dense-battery-could-cut-electric-vehicle-costs/ Why will Tesla succeed? first of all, it's not a Chevy volt. Where Chevy went wrong is that they built the $40,000 Volt on a $16,000 Chevy cruze body. Who wants to pay $40,000 for a car that feels like $16,000 when you drive it? People will, however pay $90,000 for a BMW X5, Mercedes CLK, Audi A7, etc, etc, etc... Why? Because the car feels like a $90,000 car. If you read up on Tesla's design (lowest center of gravity of any car...ever, lowest drag co-efficient...ever, perfect center of gravity, safety, etc, etc, etc) and from what people are saying now that it is on the road, you feel like you are driving a $90,000 car. And the price will go down. Battery technology, driven by consumer electrics, gas prices ($8 a gallon in some countries), and a host of other factors were going to put electric vehicles on the road sooner or later anyway. Now that the first viable electric car is on the road, you are going to see a lot of people playing catchup. When the new battery technology and competition start to really effect the cars price in 3 years, I will probably buy mine. And won't you look like a fool when they start winning NASCAR...... Edited to add: http://www.forbes.com/sites/eco-nomics/2012/02/13/why-the-tesla-model-x-is-a-home-run/ "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. I've seen in mentioned over and over again in these forums how all great societies have collapsed from the inside. The U.S. will be the same. Especially when we have a party promising free this and free that to everyone. I guess the "free" health care will be paid for with unicorn tears. Doctors accept unicorn tears for payment, right? They don't think about the consequences that will come from forcing someone else to pay your bill, like employers lowering your wage or firing you or your co-worker to cover the cost. Employers are in the business to make money not loose it. As long as it doesn't effect you, or it benefits you, why should you care? Screw everyone else, until you are the one that gets fired to make up the cost..... The liberal ideal would work if everyone pitched in, but they don't. That's not the human condition. Not every one is driven to make a better life for them selves. Most of the human population will do just enough to survive, and that is it. If they can survive without lifting a finger, they won't lift it. Sometimes you have to force them to lift it. The best way to do that is to stop giving. You stop feeding a lion in the zoo and it will eventually get hungry and do what a lion does, hunt.... That may seem cruel to some people, but that is life. Some people definitely run into hard times and need help, but we should only help those people who are willing to help them selves. The government shouldn't be handing out blank checks. People need to earn them. Whether it''s drug testing, proving that they have been job hunting, or what ever, it needs to happen. No free money for sitting on your ass. And as a society we need to realize, some people can't be saved. "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss." While I appreciate what you are trying to do, there are a few key points that you are missing: A: They are not sneaking across the border. They are entering legally through agreements utilizing approved check points. B: They are not stealing anyone's social security number or identity once they get across the border. One of the benefits of entering legally. C: At the end of the day THEY TAKE THEIR STINKY, NO GOOD FOR NOTHING, LAZY, SOCIALIST, POT SMOKING, "EH" SAYING, MAPLE SYRUP LICKIN', HOCKEY PLAYIN', FROST BITTEN CANUC ASSES BACK ACROSS THE BORDER!!!!!!!! EPA fining big oil for not hitting unicorn tear quota
jgoose71 replied to jgoose71's topic in Speakers Corner
For those of you that defend the EPA, defend this. I'm dieing to hear what you have to say: http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2012/06/21/regulation-requires-oil-refiners-use-millions-gallons-fuel-that-is-nonexistent/ Other reports say that a plant in North Carolina was trying but ran into technological issues for mass producing. The technology just doesn't exist yet. Another article mentioned that the fines were going to be upwards to $6.5 Million. I know that's not much by big oil standards, but that is not the point. That the EPA can abuse it's power like this is a problem. Big oil has the resources to fight this though, so they are going to. I'm glad personally. When small businesses fight the EPA, even if they win, they loose do to legal costs.... "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. What kind of influence the tandems have on skydiving as a sport?

The right is claiming a war on women from the left because they are saying this bill prevents gender selection and the abortion of female fetuses. Agreed that the Euro was a bad Idea. Now countries like Greece and Spain have the rest of Europe by the short and curlies..... What you have now is financial black mail. Either you bail me out or we'll crash your economy. Do you think Greece or Spain are going to fix anything anytime soon? Any attempt to fix it causes riots in the street, so the rest of the Union has to fork out another huge sum of cash. Right now, if I was in the EU, I would vote to kick them out until they fix their problem. Time to bring back the Drachma and the Peseta. "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. As usual with Right Wing Conservatives, the fingers are in the ears and the NANANANNA sounds show the real thought processes - Don't confuse me with the facts, my mind is made up!!! Sounds to me like a delusional lefty who wrote an article without a shred of evidence nor a fact to back up anything. The funny part is Frank Luntz is one of the few people around that are trying to have an honest debate. He is the author of the book "What the people really want, really" and has put together many panels of people from the north, south, left, right, democrat, republican, white, black Hispanic, Asian, etc, etc, etc.... Just to ask general questions to poll people on what is actually going through their minds without the media filter. If you have ever watched him, you would know this is full of crap. Since the article isn't referenced, I can only assume it's more Alternet crap. "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying.
