  1. I'm afraid you are wrong, kemosabe. This is from the original article: I'm sure some over zealous prosecutor would also classify moving items from the field to the silo as "Transporting" under the law also... I guess since they figure city children are forced to sit inside and play x-box all day, they would make the country folk do the same. "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. 2. You're mischaracterizing moderate concerns as extreme ones in order to demonize them and squelch all dissent. That's not a dialogue. It's not unreasonable to address balancing interests when out comes to the safety of minors. Of course there's a great deal of good that comes from kids working on family farms. But farms do happen to be on the higher end of dangerous workplaces. Depending on the study you read, farming is considered either the third or fourth most dangerous occupation in the US. That's higher, by the way, than police officers, construction workers and coal miners. So let's balance the interest, rather than demagoguing the issue. My apologies, I forgot myself. I forgot that only the left demagogues and shouts down the opposition...... Let me put it this way, anytime a kid steps out side it is dangerous. I would dare say that there are some neighborhoods in Chicago that are even more dangerous than a farm. That is no reason to start a ban though. There are plenty of child neglect/endangerment/abuse laws on the books already. If a child dies, investigate it to see if it falls into one of these categories, and then move on. To start stepping in and telling a parent what they can or can't do with their kid, especially when they are teaching a kid valuable skills and and ethics that will help them be a contributing member of society is straight up wrong. Why in earth would the government want to step in between responsible parents and their kids anyway? Shouldn't they be concentrating on the irresponsible ones? Or is this all a part of the left's plan to create social equality? If you can't drag one side up, drag the other side down? "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. 3. So the answer is lock yor kid in the house? Life is dangerous and always ends in death. Get over it. You will have no one to blame but your self if you shelter your kid like that and then he grows up ignorant. "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. 4. At this rate, the only thing a kid will be allowed to do is play x-box..... http://dailycaller.com/2012/04/25/rural-kids-parents-angry-about-labor-dept-rule-banning-farm-chores/ When I was a kid, my dad also took me to work. Eventually I was able to by my first car at 16 and even pay for my own gas. No wonder today's kids are the way they are. In the interest of protecting them, we aren't teaching them to work for anything anymore.... "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. 8. Yes, even the Chinese have realized that wind and solar are not as steady and reliable as most other energy sources. I wouldn't worry to much about the Chinese wind and solar power companies though. As long as Obama is in office, he will continue to subsidize the purchase of Chinese solar cells and wind mills, and the Chinese market will have a place to dump them. 9. To make your example fit, it would be a skydiver who started out jumping a 2.5:1 wing load with out training saying everyone else must attend canopy training. If you are already jumping a high wing load, you must up size until the training is complete (special exemptions for friends so they have an advantage at the next swooping competition, gotta pick the winners and loosers you know). 11. Haven't spent a lot of time in the sand, have you? Given the choice between wet skin and a wet bathing suit in the sand, wet skin wins every time. If I were a professional beach volleyball player, my uniform would be a speedo. If I were forced to play in a Burqini, I would finish in last place every time. http://www.burqini.com/ "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. 12. It can devastate their performance in the sand also. You should read the article. The US players worked with Oakley to design uniforms that keep out/ minimize chaffing from sand, provide maximum support where needed, and allow the most freedom of movement. You can have their bikinis when you pry them off their cold lifeless bodies . "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. 13. Beach volleyball used to have a mandatory bikini uniform policy. It seems that in an effort to draw more countries into the sport (such as Muslim countries) they are going to bikini optional. However, talking to the U.S. champions, the bikini clad teams will most likely have a distinct advantage. Is this fair? And does it take away from the purity of the sport? Full story: http://msn.foxsports.com/olympics/story/Olympics-Beach-volleyball-bikinis-raise-issues-at-2012-Summer-Games-in-London This would normally be a bonfire discussion, but because the primary concern is the inclusion and/or discrimination of Muslim women, I chose to put it in here. Not to mention, SC threads lately have sucked. You guys needed something better in here. "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. Ducati

I love Ducati's, but I will but 30,000 miles on my bike in a year. I can't afford the valve adjustments every 4-6,000 miles. In the end I bought a kick ass Yamaha R-1. One day when I am rich and famous though..... "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss." 17. ..... With the highest corporate tax rate in the world. http://finance.yahoo.com/blogs/daily-ticker/america-1-corporate-taxes-143053782.html The person who wrote this article make the arguments that: As things sit right now with all the labor also being over seas, no. For big business that can afford lobbyists and tax lawyers to find loopholes, no. For small businesses that are trying to start up and can't find a way to shelter them selves from the taxes, yes. Yes and no. The economy will not come rocketing out of the dumps until more Americans are back to work. The Tax code needs to change to make it more profitable to hire Americans again. Unfortunately, a higher corporate tax rate will not do that. "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss." 18. To bad Herman Cain was driven out of the race. His plan was what the country needed to make things like solar panels more competitive. Taxing incoming goods from China at 9% instead of 1.5% and lowering the corporate tax rate to 9% instead of the current 40% really would have lowered the overall costs of producing solar panels. There are people that say that such measures would only make the rich, richer, but in a case like this, maybe it would have kept them in business. 19. I voted absolutely not. If they want more gun freedoms they should either vote for a local government that will give it to then, or move to Texas. Let the Obama's of the U.S. have Illinois and run it as far into the ground as they want. "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. 20. ] Do we? If not, what do we say? If you're keeping it binary. Well, we have to focus on the white and drown out the Hispanic as much as possible or the race card doesn't work as well..... http://freedomeden.blogspot.com/2012/03/george-zimmerman-white-hispanic.html That was about George, not about Obama. So what do we say about Obama when he bombs Libya? And how come falsely calling Zimmerman 'Jorges' is ok but correctly calling him 'George' is playing the race card? America is so confusing! (PS: Your link? It's wrong. Zimmerman was initially described as white.) (PPS: First person to bring up race in this thread? You. Post #4) (PPPS: At that point, you stated Zimmerman needed to go to jail. Just so we're clear.) Fish in a barrel Well, while we are clearing things up, in post number 4, I was going on the information we had at the time. Everyone thought Zimmerman was the aggressor. But also in post 4, I commented that the media would turn this into a race war. Come to find out, Zimmerman backed off and Trayvon approached him and said "Do you have a problem? Well you do now." and sucker punched him, pulled him out of the car and then started to bash his head into the cement. When faced with new facts that prove me wrong, I can admit it. But of course, not being a race baiter, I can also see the facts for what they are and not let my self be blinded by the black/white argument. the Physical evidence and Eye witness account supports Zimmerman's story. 21. Is it to late for recommendations? I always like to visit Port Townsend where they filmed "An Officer and a Gentleman". I like to lay down on the battlements and have my wife spray a hose in my face while I cry "I have no where else to go!" Either that or we go to the blimp hanger and I have her kick me in the nuts..... "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. 23. A) I have no idea what the fuck you are responding to. B) Zimmerman, as shown by people who are trying to prove he's not white, is at least half white. Like, central european white. So, why is he not WHITE? And if he's not, what is he? Obama's mother is white, so Obama is half white. So when he started bombing Libya, do we say, "Oh look, another rich white guy in the white house dropping bombs on poor black people again."? "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. 24. Your anecdote seems a little off. Wouldn't every homeless person do this eevry night if this was true? Not every homeless person has though of this, also, not every homeless person knows what symptoms to complain of. Other factors, when said homeless person is extremely intoxicated on what ever, which is closer, homeless shelter or hospital? And sometimes he just wants to hang with his homey's at the underpass. Still more weed to smoke. "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss." Life, the Universe, and Everything
  25. EMTALA isn't the only reason people go to the ER. I know a guy who is a doctor at an ER. He told me how homeless guys come in with a fake complaint just to get a free room to sleep off his hang overs. Since there is a complaint, he has to admit them and run an average of $25,000 worth of tests on them to make sure they are OK before releasing them. Those costs are passed on to us. This is a regular occurrence where he works. The lawyers say he has to run these tests though, or he could face a malpractice law suit and possibly loose his license, even if something happened that had nothing to do with the original complaint. There is an ambulance chaser out there that would take the case. He has to treat the lawyers first instead of the symptoms. There are a lot of things wrong with our heath care system other than tort reform. I could go on. None of it is addressed in the "Affordable health care act". If anything, it makes it all more expensive, as we have seen with the rising costs. "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying.
