So when are you going to shell out for a new canopy? Love your cartoons, but don't be so hard on your self for the crash landings. To be honest, I didn't start standing up my landings until I bought my own rig. When ever I went to the drop zone I always wound up with a different rig. Some days 7 cell, some days 9 cell, sizes always different, always well used F111. When I knew that I was going to stay in the sport, I shelled out for my own rig (a nice flaring zero P that was the same size every jump) and low and behold, my canopy control and landings got better (though still needs work, at least I can stand them up now, on cross wind and down wind landings to boot) I don't know what your situation is, but from another person who is an expert at PLF's, hopefully it helps..... It's surprising to me that a conservative capitalist would have any problem with this. I thought everything should be bought, and nothing (not even life-saving medical treatment) should be available as an "entitlement"? Don You read a couple of my posts and now I get the label "conservative capitalist?" I prefer to think of my self as "financially conservative, and socially fabulous..." And please don't confuse "bought" with "earned." There is a difference.... "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. And you are delusional if you don't understand the power of the all mighty dollar. Once again, not saying that all Universities are diploma mills. Just that admission can be bought. What you do after you get your foot in the door is up to you.... "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss." Didn't actually say UC berkley was a diploma mill, but let's look at some facts: 1. They are on the left coast, facing asia. 2. The Demographics don't match. What % of the area is asian? What % of the UC Berkley student body is asian? 3. The Asian thriving middle class can afford to send there kids to American schools. Us broke ass Americans can't. As of right now, if I was a betting man, I would say that they are not giving away diplomas. The UC school system does have a rep to protect. However, I'm sure that if you were to audit their admissions office, you would probably find some preferential treatment. Since Asians are "minorities" in America, I'm sure they never expected to be called on it. "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. Never said it was bad or "throw them out." All I said was that Asia is starting to get a thriving middle class and they are sending there students to the U.S. to learn. I think that it's only fair that since they are getting all our jobs, we should rob them blind in tuition. I guess that if I have any bitch it's that I will never benefit from any of it, being a white male and all..... The universities will continue to sink money into opulent surroundings, free educations to minorities, hookers and blow for the football teams, and high salaries for the teachers..... And my lily white ass will be stuck paying Asian prices for my kids to go to college...... "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. what happens in North fucking Dakota has nothing to do with reality. This article that i posted only sites North Dakota as an example. Right now in US colleges there is between 600,000 and 700.000 foreign students attending our universities (not including illegal mexicans who are considered citizens by most states and are given scholoarships). Diplomas are the next big export, especially to students that can pay full tuition. Besides, Asia has a thriving middle class now that they have to educate and maintain so they can continue to run all the factories we have outsourced to them..... It has nothing to do with Affirmative action, equal representation, or anything like that. I haven't looked into it yet, but I'm willing to bet it's about money. The growing trend is to admit and sell diplomas to foreign students at full tuition to get paid (in some cases the students don't even have to show up for class). The universities still have to make sure they have adequate money coming in while giving away educations, cars, hookers, and blow to the football teams and full ride grants to minorities. Also, let's not forget UC Berkeley also has to pay California taxes. http://www.reuters.com/article/2012/02/12/us-northdakota-universitydegrees-idUSTRE81B10D20120212 "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. I'm 99.9% convinced this is not the real daughter. Wasn't she supposed to be 16? +1 This has all the makings of a good drama. Guns, lesbians, you tube, rednecks. Yeehaw!!! And did anyone else notice the big dildo on the bed? This isn't real, she is just an attention whore. Why else would it be on Break? "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. Orwellian Doublespeak Dominates Economic Policy
jgoose71 replied to StreetScooby's topic in Speakers Corner
It does have meaning You need only look to history to understand what that meaning is But in the end, the court determined the meaning of the part of that part 2nd NOT to be what the gun control groups wanted it to be! And if one takes the time to read some of the federalists papers and look at the wording in the context of the time it was written, the real meaning is easy to see (Putting on liberal hat) There you go refering to the founding fathers again. You obviosly want slavery too. Racist. "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss." Yes that is what the constitution says. To bad honesty in debate is gone. Some people would interpret this to mean " Provide an environment for the people to thrive" Others would say "Provide for the people in the environment" Like Streetscooby said, it's easy to get what they really meant by going back to their writings. Our founding fathers have many well documented papers and quotes. But as the liberals like to point out, there was also slavery back then. If we are going to interpret their words directly, we might as well bring back slavery also and make a black vote worth only 3/5ths of a white vote. If you go back and want to interpret what they said, you might as well bring back slavery.... you racist! And the (not so) honest debate continues..... How much waste is there when it is taken out and replaced? Could we put it in a rocket and shoot it into the Sun? It must have been thought about before now. Has it been dismissed as too expensive or too dangerous? Surprisingly little is wasted. I don't remember exactly, but somewhere over 90% of the original fissile material is left in a "spent" nuclear core rod. After so much of it is used, the impurities in the rod make it hard to control the reaction so they discard it (AKA: bury) it. I don't see how it would possibly be cheaper or easier to mine fresh uranium. it takes tons of ore to get a little bit of yellow cake, and tons of yellow cake to get usable uranium. Good news is it doesn't take that much uranium to power a reactor.... "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. Well, we'll let you raise your daughter, but it's obvious you can't be trusted around fruits and vegetables. From now on, you are only allowed meat and potatoes.... But, I thought that because he had a gun and cowboy hat he was an uneducated country hick that didn't know the difference between a hard drive and a hard on! You mean to tell me that we shouldn't stereo type him? Sir, you speak blasphemy!!!!! Yes, he could pull the hard drive and do a full format on it 7 times to completely wipe it also. But as was stated earlier, you do what you got to do to reach the kid. Now a days it seams that if you try to teach a kid to be respectful and try to instill some kind of work ethic, you are being unreasonable. Or at least that's what all his or her friends would tell them at school. It's what happens when society tells us that "Jersey Shore" is what everyone should aspire to be like. Haven't the French figured this out? Yes they did. They recycle their nuclear waste. For some reason we insist on burying ours for future generations to deal with. I think the last total was that we could power our country for 50 years with what we have buried next to the facilities. "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. Donating it to charity would have made more sense to me, but it wouldn't have made a very good YouTube video. But I'm sort of skeptical about the authenticity here anyway... smells a bit like balloon boy. I personally wouldn't donate my computers to anyone. With all the personal info that is hidden on it, I wouldn't want anyone to dig up, say, my bank acxount info. The reason why the dad had the daughter's computed is because she wanted him to fix it. That is how he found the comments. If he wanted to donate it, he would have had to pay to fix it and then wipe it. If it's an older computer, it would be cheaper just to buy a computer to donate. I heard on the news earlier that grounding and other typical parenting techniques were not getting through. A dramatic gesture was what finally got through to the kid. For all the arm chair quarterbacks, when was the last time you have had to deal with a teenager? MTV and their friends at high school have created some unique parenting challenges. As the Chinese Economy grows and our economy gets worse, it looks like it's not as economically sound to open factories over seas any more. http://rockcenter.msnbc.msn.com/_news/2012/01/14/10156162-made-in-america-trend-against-outsourcing-brings-jobs-back-from-china The article mentions Bruce Cochrane of Lincolnton Furniture. Here he is in a video telling why he decided to reopen the factory. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/21134540/vp=46198559 Bruce Cochrane was at the state of the Union address. I know BHO wants to take credit for some of these jobs coming back to the U.S., but the question is which part do we want to give him credit for? Helping the Chinese economy? Or bringing ours down to the level where we can compete? Interesting side note: When opening his factory back up, the banks wouldn't finance him until he turned to his local small bank who had an interest in the local community. Coincidence? Maybe or maybe not, but that's mostly irrelevant to the First Amendment. The First Amendment is rather toothless if it only protects speech that society finds popular, or is conveyed in a manner that people find comfortable. Forever. Within the law, and where their rights sometimes conflict with the rights of others (such as blocking public sidewalks or camping out in certain areas), those rights must be carefully balanced against each other. Not an easy task, but that's how it's done. And if they break the law, they should be prosecuted. My Rights end where your rights begin and vice-versa. These people tossed that notion out a long time ago... "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss." +1 Everyone here seems to be missing the point of Romney's remarks. He said there are safety nets for the very poor, and we should shore up the holes in those nets. The middle class should be the focus. Jobs for the middle class means more jobs for the very poor. Everyone seems to forget that traditionally, the middle class is middle management for factories and such. Bringing factories and manufacturing back to America is bringing the middle class back to America. If the middle class has a job, that means that all the "little people" have jobs also. focusing on the middle class IS focusing on all of America. They don't have $5 million that it's going to take to pay for the damages. Right now, on their web site, they are just trying to make bail for the people arrested. Rather than jail time, they should be publicly whipped and then made to clean up the mess they created. I guess a fair question to ask is, How much is one party expected to give without the other party bringing something to the table? How much of the military do you want to cut before you address any of the other issues? Keep in mind, good faith doesn't exist in Washington any more. Not really worried about it. The Liberal Media would watch it like a hawk and be absolutely abhorred by it. If the law was passed, there would be non-stop coverage on how the country has regressed. Follow that with the fact that our justice system is not religious based and we are not dishing out lashes for sex out of wed lock, I think we would be OK. As for the vindictive, you can screen the the people who administer the punishment, but as for the judges, well, If you have read my posts, you know we need a better method for screening these ass clowns. But like i said, we got the liberal media. As for the African American population, it's not the system that put them there, it's cultural. We have a Black president, A congressional black caucus, Colin Powell, Condeleeza Rice, Herman Cain, etc, etc, etc. African Americans can make it in America if they choose to. It's to easy for them to get wrapped up in the Hip-Hop prison culture and gang violence because of a lack of a father figure that's missing in close to 70% of the families. Maybe if the state whipped that ass when they get out of line, it might make up for the father they never had....... "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying.
