  1. Yes, I just made it up. But at the same time, I'm trying to make a point. Anything can be argued when you are mining and manipulating facts, as Micheal Mann has done. Also, I think this is just plain funny. If you don't, go find a sense of humor. "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. 2. Canada has formally withdrawn. If they didn't they would face $13 billion in fines. It's kind of like withdrawing from a college class before you fail it to not wreck your GPA. The hilarious part (not mentioned in this article) is China blasting Canada. They say they should be exempt while Canada needs to comply. A lot of people are saying that the other big reason they are pulling out is because the energy sector will never allow Canada to ever get to the required level of Green house gasses under the Kyoto protocol again. They have to pump their new oil sands reserve to the U.S. to fuel Al gores private jet and Obama's around the world campain trips in Air Force One. http://www.france24.com/en/20111213-canada-withdraw-kyoto-protocol-harper-kent-climate-change-durban Edited to Add: We'll shut down our own ability to drill, but we'll place such high demands on other countries that they have to withdraw from agreements.... 3. Me personally, I can't wait until the TSA starts scanning people getting on the jump plane.... Are gonna threaten the pilot with that hook knife? You better not be planning on ramming this plane into something..... The good news is that everyone should be out by the time the plane crashes into something.... 4. http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052970203833104577070572768248242.html?mod=googlenews_wsj From what I understand, this was just Obama paying back his union lackeys for contributing so much to his election. The lawsuit was bunk. The only way it would have been illegal was if they were planning to fire all the Washington employes and re-open the plant in South Carolina. But the case was the 737's were supposed to continue being built in Washington and the 787's were to be built in South Carolina. However, the government and unions held the South Carolina plant hostage with a law suit to get them selves a sweet deal. Debt paid. "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. 5. True, but at the same time CO2 hasn't been proven a problem yet, and a lot of companies are already taking measures to limit it's release. So why is the EPA getting involved again? 6. Well, yes. That would be true. For example, you may,by law, enjoy the freedom to blast your boom box until some specified hour of the night. That would indeed hinder my peace and harmony. You may, by law, enjoy the freedom of taking my property to build a Home Depot. That would hinder my peace and harmony. I needn't go on... I'm guessing you have never been to Estonia..... 7. +1 I guess some people would call corruption freedom and some of the basic rights we enjoy in the U.S. a hindrance to their peace and harmony. 8. Ok, it' not right. Maybe think of a way that is? Remember, liberals are not fond of the death penalty and everyone is innocent until proven guilty..... 9. Not yet anyway, although they can now. The EPA can regulate "green house gases" and they have just moved CO2 to that list. They are now set to start throwing up regulations. http://www.time.com/time/health/article/0,8599,1946095,00.html Just like CO2. Maybe the EPA should start conducting studies to regulate ozone also... Oxygen is very corrosive to the human body. Prolonged exposure to overly high concentrations causes what is called "Pulmonary O2 toxicity" which will feel like burning on inhalation and causes damage to the lungs. High concentrations for a short term can have healing effects, as used in hyperbarric treatments for burn victims. To much is bad. It's almost like I'm seeing a trend here. Still do we need to regulate oxygen? To bad anything, including some of the post here in SC can be labeled as a pollutant.... "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss." Life, the Universe, and Everything
  10. You are right that a lot of the stuff mentioned above are bad. Where the EPA crossed the line though is when they labeled CO2 a green house gas. CO2 is a necessary part of the circle of life. It's what all life exhales, and it's what trees breath. Since trees "exhale" oxygen, are we going to label that a green house gas next? And what about limiting what people exhale? Are we going to implement fines to people who exercise because they produce more CO2? What about an athlete tax? And don't forget to tax rain forests for producing deadly oxygen. trees and plants give off that deadly substance. If the atmosphere ever exceeded 21% who knows what kind of deadly ramifications it could have on the earth. Has anyone done a study yet? Better get on it. We may have to think about shipping some of the worlds oceans to outer space to ensure these numbers don't get off kilter..... There is limiting pollution, and then there is sounding false alarms to further an agenda. "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. 11. Every report listed on this thread so far says that the new regulations will cost the Power companies $10.5 to $11 billion. The only difference is the Pro-regulation agenda spins it as "new jobs" and "economic recovery". The problem is, do the power companies have $11 billion lying around? I know with the talk of government debt and waste in the trillions, billions just doesn't seem like that much anymore, but let's face it, that is a metric butt ton of money. And when you forcibly take it from the electric companies, what is that going to do to our utilities, which effects the cost of all of our goods? Bill makes it sound like all companies have all this money coming out of their wazoo. While they are sitting on their cash, I don't think individual companies are sitting on $11 billion. But one thing is for sure, this article does show why companies are sitting on their cash. They never know what big brother is going to do next to try to run them out of business. 12. NOPE. Parents, lawyers and elected school boards have hamstrung the teachers' ability to provide effective discipline. Nothing to do with teachers' unions. 14. Maybe it's because I grew up in the stix, but everyone acted right in school or they saw the principle and went before the "board of education" which was a hand carved native american canoe paddle...... Students acted right, and learned..... While I am ranting, the other thing that really bothers me today and I think is causing "Mental Health Problems" in our youth is the "everyone gets a trophy" mentality. We are not preparing our kids for the real world when we do that. The first time they "loose" at something, they don't know how to handle it. Whether it's not getting the job or college they want or their boss telling them they didn't do a good enough job. In life, you will sometimes come up short. If you grew up knowing that sometimes you loose, and that you need to go back, practice, try harder, keep a positive attitude and not quit, you would eventually win. Now a days, because so many kids are coddled, the first time they loose, they don't know how to handle it. It goes back to the parents. A kid needs parents to teach him or her these life lessons. We are so worried about hurting their self esteem they never learn these life lessons, and have a complete melt down when things don't go there way. It's time to pull the score board out of the moth balls and put it back up at the T-ball field, for the kids that still might know what T-ball is..... And we wonder why kids feel like they deserve a trophy for showing up.... "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. 15. I think this is the most correct statement here. But I do feel I have to add that while religion does not play a huge part in raising a kid, religious families do tend to be more "family value" oriented. The break down of the family unit is playing a huge role in the decline of society in general. The lack of parental guidance to teach kids coping skills with the world is one large factor. Follow that with kids being raised by MTV reality shows isn't helping things much either. That is not the way you are supposed to behave. Don't act shocked and surprised then you get in trouble for doing that. Another thing people don't tend to talk about is the lack of discipline in schools. Schools are where most kids learn social interaction now a days because parents are affair to let their kids out of the house. Either that, or your a bad parent with no control of your kid if you do. Teachers unions, which are more concerned about the teachers than the students, have removed pretty much all ability to discipline from the schools, so the kids pretty much just run amok. They are just practicing what they saw on MTV. No one is telling them "no". Raising a kid is hard enough. Raising a kid alone without any support is next to impossible, yet there are those that are out there that are trumpeting the message that "it's OK." 16. As a military EOD tech trained in the finding, identification, and render safe of hazardous devices and lots of hands on experience over seas, I applied for a job with the TSA. I was immediatly screened out and told I would not be considered further for any jobs. Do you think it's because I'm white? "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. 18. Top comment on the page was an update that the charges got dropped, Judge ruled them as Unconstitutional, and I think rightly so. Matt Glad to hear that the charges were dropped. However, that the law is still on the books is a problem. If you don't understand that the reason the bill introduced by (R) Rep. Chapin Rose was shot down in comity was because the highly democratic Illinois legislature was bought off by the Police Unions, then you are fooling your self. I've will keep harping at the evils of a unionized police force until someone finally gets it. And as long as you keep voting for public sector unions, understand that you will never fix the police force. That lump they just gave you? You asked for it. 19. OK I buy that, I can controll big government. WE can vote for people or vote out people. What if anything can controll big business? Injecting risk back into big business so they start making sound responsible decisions. I already answered that question. After reading your posts with Rush, I can tell they you have been drinking from the liberal fountain. No, conservatives do not want to pollute the planet. Yes, the EPA has been over reaching though. We need controls, but the EPA is trying to go out on it's own and name CO2 as a green house gas that needs to be controlled. I can see it now: "in the name of mother earth, we need to reduce CO2 emissions. Al Gore, her great protector, has flown here in his private jet to personally over see the lottery of names of people to be shot so they don't produce any more of this deadly gas." "They they will be turned into soylent green. That is all." "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss." 20. You have touched on one of the biggest fallacies being spread by the left. If you read liberal news papers or left wing blogs you are going to think that all conservatives want to start dumping toxic waste into streams and start serving it to school children. This is a straight up lie. When we talk about repealing government, what we are talking about is government controls on the system, not pollution controls. The reason big business and the wall street guys are getting so rich because, thru lobbyist, they have managed to legislate risk out of their business. Risk is important. It is what keeps people from making bad decisions. As the system is set up right now, if the market does good, they get rich. If something goes bad, oh well, that was someone else's money. Repealing financial protections of some of these guys will bring that much needed factor back to the market place so people start making good decisions again. And if they screw up, they bear the brunt of their own bad judgement. I could go on and on with examples, but I think you get the main idea of it. HR 1955

From your link: "Text of H.R. 1955 [110th]: Violent Radicalization and Homegrown Terrorism Prevention Act of 2007" Trying to pin a 2007 bill on Obama is a bit of a stretch. You didn't follow the link to the full article did you? It should have died, but they are trying to bring it back. hopefully, it gets killed off for good. http://beforeitsnews.com/story/1390/918/NL/New_Law_By_Obama_To_Jail_500,000_American_Citizens_Or_More_For_The_Crime_Of_Opposing_Their_Government..html "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. 22. Depends Dem or Republican Remember the stir from Bush's pronunciation of nuclear? Compared to Obama's pronunciation of corpsman? We should consider spelling and grammar in addition to pronunciation. Yep, and remember, it's spelled "Potatoe" "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. 23. Despite your verbosity, I think I understand what you are saying. I think I might be able to help you understand whats going on though. Liberals are clueless to the world. They know that something is wrong and they want it fixed. But what they don't understand is that they are on the side of a system that is creating even more inequality because they don't understand the system mechanisms and flaws. They demonize big business because they are getting rich. They don't understand that big business is getting rich because big brother lets them. Big brother lets them because big brother is getting paid off. Government has gotten so big and complicated that we have lost site of what they are doing. When we lost site we lost accountability. The answer is not more government, bet less, so we can regain site and accountability. The health care bill is a perfect example. Over 2000 pages. It is supposed to make life better, yet health care cost have gone up dramatically. Why? Because of all of the stuff we didn't see. Yes, some people claim to know what's in it, but they didn't. Otherwise in a plan that was supposed to help the people, cost would have gone down. To protest effectively, you need to not only have a problem, but it also helps to have a solution. The OWS people don't have that. The reason they don't have that is because they don't understand the problem. They want to grow the government allowing for less accountability. They don't understand the problem, so they don't know a solution. All they know is that they are pissed off. "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss." Life, the Universe, and Everything
  24. The point is, what do you want? First they are upset because she opened the gallery to flaunt her wealth, so they protest. Them she closes the gallery and they are upset because now the people that were working are without job. This is the problem people have with the OWS crew. No coherent message. Let's keep it simple to start out with and we will get more complicated after this. Do they want the gallery open or closed? "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. 25. It has been summed up before in one sentence: Your rights end where the next person's right's start. You do not have the right to trample on other people's right's. It's a common sense thing that seems to be becoming more and more lost. Common sense. So uncommon that it's almost a super power... "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying.
