I was in a big-way a couple years ago. 70 jumpers in the formation. There were 3 or 4 AADs... I'm not sure how many of those were turned on. LOL ... Somehow I knew that sooner or later Crew dogs will post something like that
-
Just to clarify. I did not mean to ask if organizes suggest not to use an AAD or open lower than 2K Clearly, opening close to minimum deployment altitude increases the risk of AAD fire so I was curious how many people are willing to make a trade between a possibility of getting knocked out and not having a functional AAD and getting a two out. Thanks for your input
-
I have a question to experienced big-way folks. I have heard more than once that some people like to turn the AAD off when they have to leave in first wave and open close to minimal deployment altitude to minimize the possibility of two out due to AAD fire. So is this absolutely uncommon, suicidal, old school or people still do that? The patient silence of those who cannot consider themselves as experienced big-way folks would be greatly appreciated.

Why do Tandem Instructors complain all day?

Ok ... I have to admin that my statistics is not exactly unbiased since I usually do not pay a lot of attention to guys -
Why do Tandem Instructors complain all day?
AMax replied to RockHard's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
For every cutie I take, I probably get 4-5 guys. I really don't mind, but some TM's are notorious for swooping every babe and never taking a big guy. You'll have to be fast. It's nice to not be greedy, but share with your coworkers. I have a strong impression that in Texas the girls to guys ratio is about 2:1 -

Oh please. Looking at some tandem passengers I am seriously thinking that I might want to get a TM rating when I get older Where all these cuties come from? -
your average fallrate on your belly

As Kris said, the truth is exactly the opposite In a proper flat track position the shape of you body is aerodynamically similar to the shape of airplane wing. You get more airspeed and therefore more lift. Good trackers achieve almost 1:1 ratio of forward to vertical speed slowing down vertically up to 80-90 mph. -

Well, the reason I started this is because I found the title a bit cocky This idea is supported by scores. I am sure you know what I am talking about -

Dom, I love US teams too ... just thought it is little silly not to include the competition into this poll. -

Ok ... my previous post was a joke but seriously, how come you do not even consider the possibility on non US team taking the first place? As a fun of Airspeed you should know that the whole project was started with a goal to bit the French who dominated the 4-way 10 years ago. The new Maubeuge is a very strong team and cannot be ruled out. Look what they did to GK’s in 2003 http://www.omniskore.com/comp/2003/WPC/2003_wpc.htm In addition there are several other WC teams ... Sinapsi comes in mind first. -

Can someone post a vid of 18 with centers crossing first?

Both statements are questionable. I would partially agree with the first one since US has and uses far more funds for developing its space program. However, Russia too still has a lot of unique technologies and continues too work on developing the new programs. Lets not forget that Russian technologies keep the station alive (granted, with a lot of help from US). The second statement is simply a speculation. Even knowing the facts from the past you cannot perfectly predict the future. A politician needs the ability to foretell what is going to happen tomorrow, next week, next month, and next year. And to have the ability afterwards to explain why it didn't happen (C) Winston Churchill

There is one interesting correlation. It seems that guns are quite popular among conservative people. So what do you all think about guns and Christian religion? Obviously, the weapons are designed to kill. Those who owe the weapons for personal protection consider using them if needed (meaning consider the possibility of killing the human being). How does this go with the Bible? I am by no means trying to start a troll ... just curious ...

Bruno, I have done 1L of vodka more than once and I'm still around What's a point of arguing over alcohol? Lets talk about swooping small canopies
-
FYI: I used to wear a green beret and received quite extensive education about all kinds of weapons. The list is too long to mention here. My present position is based on experiences rather then ignorance.
-
I think that’s exactly why man love guns. In addition, a lot of people believe they can use their guns for personal protection. I mean they truly believe in their skills and ability to use the weapon effectively when someone points the gun at them and asks for money. LOL Debating with gun lovers is a waste of time. You cannot change them and you cannot even convince them that most gun owners suck really bad when it comes to shooting.

You are definitely hot. Can I buy you a drink?

Jumping out of planes in not safe. You make a serious mistake - you die. Some did everything right and they still died. As a student, you will be closely supervised by professionals but even they cannot completely guarantee your safety. Don't let anybody fool you that skydiving is a safe fun ride and you will live longer
