  1. I'd like to see some evidence
  2. Lol ... since there is no 30-35 I'll vote 25-30
  3. Obviously skydiving, but I wish I had more time and discipline to visit Church more often. Though I pray for safety of people on board during every takeoff.
  4. You can find the scores from last TSL meet heere http://www.skyleague.com/pages/leagues/showLeague.php?league=16&RECORD_KEY(leagueContentSource)=id&id(leagueContentSource)=16 As you can see, there were 4 rookie teams competing in June. IMHO, even RW jump numbers do not immediately reflect your performance in 4-way. There are people with 300 jumps who do pretty good in Intermediate class and there are people with 1000's who do not. I completely agree that there is nothing wrong with doing a rookie class if you do not have any competition experience. I'd contact TSL meet director and ask him. Go to www.txsl.com for contact info
  5. Black Cat (Former Sky Panters) just won a gold medal in open 4-way at Russian FS Nationals (20.8 av). Congratulations!
  6. What about low pull contests and overall % of people who died because of no pull / low pull back in 70s?
  7. Yes. Why? Do you need one to protect your house from strangers?
  8. makes me wonder how sodium and potassium fit into this theory ...
  9. This thing saves you life on every skydive. Why hate packing it? Love it, learn every bit of it and you attitude will change. After all it only takes a few minutes. Or wait a minute, are you on a team that makes 20 jumps per day in quads and spends all ground time for rolling and debriefs?
  10. The most important safety issue associated with using a packer is not learning about gear from the very beginning and not paying attention to gear maintaince on regular basic (which is a direct result of ignorance). There was a lot of discussion who must stow the brakes and uncollapse the slider but I believe it is more or less clear that packers are paid to pack it in. It is not their responsibility to pay attention to damaged grommets, burned fabric, twisted break lines, worn out closing loops ect (a lot of packers actually do pay attention to things like that and it is very nice on them to do so). There is a whole bunch of new and not-so-new jumpers who are completely ignorant when it comes to simple gear maintance (or cannot even make a 20 min call because their packer is really busy). Why? Because they developed a habit of paying $5-6 right after they got their A.
  11. Last night I talked to my temmate who visited Rico. He says Rico was still paralized and couldn't breathe on his own but clearly there were signs of improvment after surgery. Rico was councheous, looking at visitors and communicating with them. Lets pray for Rico and hope he recovers well.
  12. If it is only flare that really concerns you, then get some coaching with video. It you have other serious safety-related issues, then I would not listen to those who convince you to stay in sport. After all, it is your life and your bones. You have done 70+ more jumps that any average person on this planet and nobody should blame you for making a decision to stop.

Am I going to get paid? LOL ... looks like I gave up too early ... they say one can consider himself a part of "elite" group after passing level 10 ... too bad there is no way to jump to level 10 without repeating those boring levels 1-9

Not really, it took me less than half an hour to get to level 9 ... I did it to wake up before another 12h at work ...

It gets boring as complexity increases ... the principle is the same on higher levels level 9: elapsed time 9:27 total score: 2454

  17. AK-74 is way better than 47 but even 74 is outdated. The 100's are new generation. BTW, this is what i used to use http://kalashnikov.guns.ru/models/ka100.html
  18. Reminded me Richard Bach's “The bridge across forever”. It took him nine pages to list all the qualities of ideal woman ...
  19. Hm … I heard this one before but the two guys were Ukrainians
  20. I never thought about it until last Sunday. Indeed these guys saved his life. Kudos to them!
  21. Exactly. It is too early for any predictions but the fact that he's able to move his shoulders leaves a hope for complete recovery.
  22. Great news! Let us all pray for him and hope for the best. One thing I realized last Sunday is that we have to beware of scumbags when the accidents happen. I was surprised and disgusted to find that one visitor (who apparently was accompanying a group of tandem passengers) found the accident so interesting so he decided to tape everything on his video camera. When I (politely) asked the guy what the heck he is doing, he replied that he is not taping, just looking at the rescue crew through his camera.
