  1. well I hope they don't fail like most of the drugs do
  2. didn't you say earlier that your mom is Russian ?
  3. The chances of getting induced line twists are smaller if the chest strap is loose because the risers get more spread out. There is a believe that loose chest strap also lessens the chances of line twists during opening sequence for the same reason.

I am now tempted to dig out the old (huh ... old ) tape and look at the exits of my first rookie 8-way team. We all had about 70-100 jumps on average (except for very experienced player coach) when we started. After a few jumps we totally nailed the 8-way stairstep exit and lunched it several dozen times without a single funnel. The funny thing is that after the break we still could not get together and build the first point Edit to add: druspork, do you track wich exit you take out?
  5. Well, I start to understand the system behind the system: My mother is Russian. You Russian guy lived in Texas. I lived in Canada. THAT's explanation for all: You're much more Yankee b/c you live in the South, I am less Yankee b/c I lived in the North. But there are Russian roots! That's it! Or vice-versa? Who will ever understand those crazy Americans with their silly games? I believe it's vice-versa I definitely feel that there is some Texas influence. For example, I frequently catch myself saying Y'all ... with Russian accent
  6. Mine is 49% (Yankee). Barely into the Yankee category. What does it mean for a Russian guy whos' been living in Texas for 7 years??
  7. Do you know when all these compounds will hit the clinical trials?
  8. Human morals do not apply to wolves. Unlike us, they usually kill because they need to eat. The fact that the wolves do not always kill fast does not mean that they are cruel. The killing methods vary depending on the kind of prey, however they are always effective.

Ron, Is there any point in skydiving when you feel that you are so good so there no more need to work on improvement? Oh wait, a thought like that probably strikes you for a second at the point when you just won the gold and are about to more from intermediate to advanced of from advanced to open, but I have not yet experienced this Thanks for the dada, I thin it will be useful for us. Edit: dgskydive, Do you know any details about the program? How do you transfer the data? Is there some sort of demo or manual? Thanks guys! Anton

Does anyone track the times (delays) between the exit and the key to the second point for Intermediate or Advanced 4-way teams? I know Mario has some data on his website but I wonder if there any other sources. I would greatly appreciate if someone suggests the source available on-line or shares the personal statistics. Thanks, Anton
  12. I once landed almost a mile off the DZ near a local road in North Texas. When I finally got on the road, I decided to stop a car to borrow a cell phone and let manifest know that I am ok. When some nice farmer driving with his son finally stopped, I smiled at him and asked if I could borrow his phone to let my friends know that I landed fine. I did not have a red star painted on my helmet, but I was speaking with thick Russian accent After a significant pause followed by my explanation that I actually came from the local skydiving club, the farmer nicely offered a ride to DZ, but his son kept looking at like I came from a different planet.
  13. Perhaps I haven't been in sport long enough since none of the points you listed really bothers me

    Hunting poll

Yup. I think after being associated with biological sciences for the past 15 years I got this concept that's what some hunters advocate suggesting that their role in not letting certain population expand is absolutely crucial. There is no doubt about that I do too and I am not (unfortunately) a whuffo in hunting since I used to hunt a lot including some very challenging forms like wolf hunting. I would do that If I had power to make such a change Not always true, but there are many examples that prove this point. Disliking hunting was my personal choice and I did not start this discussion because I am personally against killing wild animals. I started it because I believe (repeating what was said before) that the vast majority of hunters hunt because it is a lot of fun for them (look at the results of the poll, and those who think that the poll is too restricted look at my previous post about this poll), but they use all kind of shaky arguments to justify their hobby.

    Hunting poll

I am afraid you do not really understand the caliber of Nature magazine. A study published in Nature makes a career in science. Unlike the stuff you get from mass media, every article published in magazines like Nature is being revised by several experts in that particular field. Only after revision very insignificant % gets accepted for publication based on importance and quality of the study. It is too bad that you and Kennedy do not find it convincing.

    Hunting poll

Oh I do realize that they kill animals for the meat we get in supermarkets. But what about trophy hunting? You do not always kill for meat, do you? Of course it is not. If you chase a deer with camera you cannot kill it

    Hunting poll

That’s exactly my point and that's exactly why I stopped. Edit to add. "Connection to nature" sounds like a plain BS to me. Want to be connected? Go hiking or chase that deer with a camera. Or is it killing that makes people feel conencted?

    Hunting poll

I am not so sure. Yes, there are regions in US where deer is overpopulated. Hunting some of them down will probably not harm the population in terms of the numbers. There is however a danger of negative influence on genetic pool because elimination by hunting is SELECTIVE. The negative changes may not be obvious immediately but there no guarantee that genetic pool will not be altered in a long term scale. I sited the article in related thread. It did not impress Kennedy who is apparently a big expert, but I was very impressed because the study was done very well and the approach the authors used was quite modern and convincing. No wonder the study was selected by top scientific magazine that selects only very insignificant % of all manuscripts submitted fir publication. The authors studied a different specie but their results suggest that the problem of selective elimination could be more common. Lets not forget that all species (including us) were selected evolutionary and the elimination during evolution works by more unbiased manner.

    Hunting poll

Actually, the methodology works just fine. I made a prediction in related tread and then created this poll. I am not denying that the poll is restricted, but it does confirm the prediction made earlier. Those who feel that their answers are not listed in this poll are not forced to vote, therefore, the data sample is not contaminated. In addition, I do not see a big difference between "hunting for fun" and "hunting for connection to nature" and the fact that you do not always have fun hunting does not mean that you do not do it for fun.

It is too late to include it now, but I agree that your point is valid. I did not exclude this option on purpose though ...

    Hunting poll

Good job of making sure you only give select answers so you can prove your point. Well. What other options you suggest?
