  1. Breathing exercise is a good way to deal with massive adrenaline release because you get extra oxygen in your blood. Take a deep breath, hold it for 1-2 seconds and then let go slowly. Repeat several times. This little trick is very powerful.
  2. #545 (or so) from spinning mal. It was a fun experience - as soon as I landed near accuracy circle, one of most experienced dogs at DZ who lurked our 4-way training jump approached me. Me (showing him both handles): Look Rick, who says they usually loose the handles after first chop? Him: How many times did I tell you to be lower on exit?
  3. Majik & Knights just posted 21 in first round! Isn't it amazing? Only in skydiving two teams battle in close competition in 4-way and then team up and set a new world record in 16-way
  4. I had been jumping with an RSL until I changed my main from Sabre1 to Cobalt (had about 540 jumps by then) The main rational to disconnect it was a higher probability of spinning malfunction. While jumping a Sabre1 I got used to pulling close to minimum deployment altitude and sniveling through the last alarm (1.6K on pro-track) of formation loads. I would probably not be very comfortable doing that on elliptical canopy w/o an RSL. The fact that 99% of my jumps now are 4-way with higher deployment (usually around 3K) and less crowded airspace also influenced the decision to remove an RSL. It is a personal decision. P.S. Ironically, my first cutaway was from spinning malfunction on the first jump on new canopy and w/o an RSL
  5. Check this out. Three intermediate 8-way teams are going for round 10: Tornado – 60 MP5 – 59 Touch-N-Go - 58 Anyone wants to bet who’s going to get gold ?

    Hello

Thank you Ron! I will definitely sleep well tonight
  7. Just to add Kallend's responce. In a good flat track you increase the airspeed and therefore lift increases too. This means that the rate of vertical descent decreases. A good tracker leaving the formations always floats on the base. If you have a protrack, try flat tracking the entire skydive and then compare the average freefall speeds of tracking and normal dive.
  8. Yeah, I see that you are getting some conflicting advice in this forum too. In fact, two people posted that they would cut away first. I suggest you look closer at their profiles ....
  9. Being open to expert advice and continuous learning are the keys for survival in this sport. Three different people with instructor ratings and 4000+ jumps tell you to go straight for reserve. May be you should listen to their advice and stop seeking for the answers by creating polls like this.

    Hello

Yes, they did. Please do not mention their names or you will be eaten too. This is pretty damn serious, dude. ...
  11. I had a premature release on velcroless Javelin risers due to broken toggle keeper. The steering line wrapped around the slider but I managed to stop the turn with rear riser (it was Sabre1) and release the other break.
  12. Not eating is not a major cause of the problem but might have contributed to it. First jump is associated with high stress followed by massive release of adrenaline and some other active neurochemicals (I do not want to get into details here). Depletion of these hormones results in short term psychological and behavioral changes (loss of appetite can be one of them). Reduced resistance to alcohol is also a result of these changes. Think of beer. Why do we enjoy it so much after whole day of jumping? To me the first beer after long training day at dropzone always tastes much better then if I just stop by for a drink after spending a day at work. The simplified explanation is because jumping is more exciting and this excitement leads to depletion of certain neurochemocals inhuman brain. This short term depletion changes alcohol tolerance.
  13. The first part is total BS. The food hypothesis is more reasonable. I'd say delayed response to stress is most likely explanation.
  14. I am sure Mr. J (who hopefully survived the last hurricane) will be very pleased to see this ... Edit: Lol ... I did not realize who upndownshop is ... were the hell is my new D-bag ?
