  1. Thank ya'll for providing your input!
  2. Your impressive scores shown that this strategy works Congrats with the gold medal Edit to add: Obviously the number of training jumps together and number of planed training jumps for a season make a big difference. The common sense tells to stick with a simpler engineering when the team is new (especially when make a transition from AA class) and when the team does not plan to make a lot of jumps. You guys kept the same lineup for two years (and shown some impressive performance in 2004), so I guess you could afford trying many different options.
  3. Tail, tail! give it to tail - make him look good
  4. Lol ... basically the choice is between creeping all winter or jumping all winter
  5. Yup ... set your priorities right.
  6. The power of visualization should not be underestimated
  7. If you use mirrors and do all slot switching on the front it is both slots and mirrors for Pt
  8. It's more popular to do slot switching on the front
  9. Lets say on 17 the tail does the solo move and the Pt is facing out on the bottom of the block. If the centers keep doing the same job - it's a mirror for Pt/Tail. They are still doing their jobs as Pt and Tail but from the mirror picture. In double slot switch engineering, on the bottom of 17 the Tail becomes IC, IC becomes tail, Pt become OC and OC becomes Pt. It seems that double slot switching is easier for front piece flyers because they do a lot of slow switching anyway. For tail it’s a difference between learning mirrors and learning IC’s job ... P.S.: Keep in mind that I know close to nothing .. this is just my understanding of how this works ..
  10. 49 - 4-way 1 - 24-way wedding dive. In a way it was a team jump too - the bride and groom were my teammates

Lol ... that's exactly what I meant ... sorry for confusing you ...

I like this idea too but I would not focus on general principles of control of body movement by nervous system. Skydiving is very mental, so I'd rather concentrate on brain regions involved in fear responses and general judgment. You can also combine this with anatomy and physiology of adrenaline release. I wouldn't think that the amygdala or the prefrontal cortex would have much to do with "control of body movement by nervous system." I would expect those areas to have more to do with the "mental" aspect of skydiving that you are suggesting. Perhaps I did make myself clear - I am well aware of what amygdala is reponsible for ...

  14. Lol ... don't say you will only do it once before you experience it for yourself. I also wanted to try it once
  15. I would like to send good vibes to all Houston folks, especially to those who got stack in traffic trying to get out of town. My teammate's wife and kids spent 13 hours on highway and they are still not very far from downtown I live in a small apartment, but I am willing to accommodate a person or two in case you do not care about having a lot of room. If there is anything we could do to help here in Dallas – please PM me or call (214) 476-1553
  16. The best thing for you would be to get as much tunnel time as possible and focus on simple 2-way and then 4-way RANDOM dives. The blocks can wait until you build a solid basic foundation. It is ok do try a block just for fun (presuming you will be on 4-way with three other people who know what they are doing) but it does not make any sense to focus on trying to master the blocks when you have 40 jumps.
  17. Please note that I am not trying to advocate classical Christian dogmas. The point is that we cannot rule out the possibility of existence of God simply because we are unable to detect him. In addition, the fact that some dogmas of Christianity (created by humans) are obviously wrong also does not argue against existence of God. How do you know what will hapen in hundred years?
  18. do you really know WHAT are you talking about?
  19. That's a theory ... In reality the basic science is based to a great extent on predictions, dogmas and faith (for example, scientists believe or do not believe things that agree or do not agree with their personal scientific views). And by the way, you would not be able to show me the tracks left by electrons if we had this discussion hundred years ago.
  20. I have seen neither angels nor electrons but I know a few monks who claim the angels visit them regularly. I also read about great physicists who discovered elementary particles. Sometimes I get confused whom should I believe and whom should I not. Not seeing is frequently translated into not believing. Could it just be a problem with detection system?
  21. A person who introduced me to competitive skydiving also had a bad start. She was scared of planes, slow learner and even rode the plane down several times. Now (only a few years later) she is an amazing 4-way flyer, canopy pilot and world record holder.
  22. This is a most exciting thread in relative work forum!!!
