  1. Didn't the Cheney-Bush-Rumsfeld neo-con gang try to impose pretend Christian values some offending nations? I think that may be one of the key things the led you to where you are now.
  2. Now you're just talking nonsense and pushing buttons. Like I said earlier the US does not have to conquer us to get our natural resources. They are for sale and being extracted by large multi-national companies with a huge proportion of US ownership. Besides we have been doing our best to make our population unpalatable to our neighbours by admitting huge numbers of brown skinned immigrants for the last decade or so. That is somewhat on pause at the moment while we catch up on infrastructure. But soon enough we will be poisoning our blood to discourage you. We aim to be like Mexico, an anathema to US expansion. We already have Quebec and its insistence on French language and culture. Let's see you deal with them for a change.
  3. So....you accept that the USA can not afford to pay down what it owes except by nibbling at the federal civil service? Most nations have both higher income taxes and some form of VAT. Like you most western democracies are also running deficits. Unlike you they are not led by ineffective showmen bent on performance art. It is interesting that you list war as an income opportunity. Your last set of middle east adventures is a large reason for the debt you have accumulated so I'm not sure where your head is at on that. Your nation is so controlled by people who don't want to pay their share that they squeeze the taxation collection agency so hard that it can not do audits.
  4. The something that needs to be done is simple.Raise taxes to pay for the things you want and voted for. DOGE is theatre and nothing else. Both the left and the right want the same thing. Someone else to pay for the cake they are eating.
  5. No one I know was afraid for themselves. We were afraid we would get it and pass it on to vulnerable family members. We were concerned about the hospitals that were overflowing with the ones among us who were the unlucky. We wanted everyone to do everything possible to bring the event to a quicker end. To me and those I know it was about doing the right thing for others. My wife was drafted as a nurse into working ICU and watched as many patients died. Fortunately most lived due to the extreme measure that artificial ventilation is. Not once did she complain about having to switch from her regular job in outpatient cataract surgery to 12 hour overnight weekend shifts in an environment she never trained for but was needed. The healthcare system is still not fully recovered from this event. People did not get hysterical, they got on and did what was needed to be done. Except for a subset of self entitled complainers who got hysterical when they were asked to make the sacrifice of wearing a mask and helping to protect the vulnerable. I have not forgotten and will likely never forget who refused to help and only complained about the inconvenience.
  6. Let me answer that one if I may. It is one of the latest attempts at baiting and triggering good people. I've been seeing it on FB the last little while. Some lame attempt to be be "clever" in the usual insulting right wing way. A successor to "cuck". Not something base698 made up on his own but something his tribe as given him as a new code word.
  7. In other words "because the boss told me to".
  8. It has been renamed. It's now officially known as "The Shame Flag". The White House will ask Google to comply and being the cowards that they are they will.
  9. Nearly as unlikely as South Korea sending troops to Ukraine is the US sending aid and solace to Russia. Yet.....here it is now.
  10. Who will defend the constitution if the POTUS and the SCOTUS and the Congress all seem bent on upending it? Will the well armed populace rise up? Not as long as the parts of the constitution that seem important to them are not threatened. It will just be someone else's problem.
  11. We wouldn't do that. Power grids are interdependent and we all give and get for one thing. And besides, the problem doesn't really come as much from the upper mid-west. Doug Ford has called an unneeded snap election in Ontario to take advantage of the situation and is big time pandering.
  12. Did you know Stephen Miller is jewish? He is also a white supremacist.
  13. Have you noticed yet that he is the only person engaging with you?
  14. America doesn't really need to do that. I mean sure, if they had to they would. But it's so much easier just to buy it like from any other country. It's just a commodity and we are a western capitalist nation.
  15. Exactly. Americans just don't seem to get it. They have become immune.
  16. Keith, you have no idea the level of anger that is present in Canada right now. My feelings are mild compared to those I have heard. Your orange hero has done the impossible. United Canada.
  17. Yes Keith, but he is the POTUS so it matters.
  18. Small things add up. Details matter.
  19. We sure as hell won't put up with the bullshit that California does having the same two Senators as Rhode Island, or the God forsaken Alabama.
  20. Easily explained with two words.....Stephen Miller.
  21. He says he wants Canada for our resources. We have no real problem with selling resources to the US. Exporting resources starting with beaver pelts has always been a huge part of our economy. The original free trade agreement was all about ensuring access to our oil reserves from the American point of view. The US is naturally the best and easiest place for us to market our abundant supplies of certain natural resources and we are happy to do business with our neighbours. What we don't want is medical bankruptcies and regular school shootings. Or a dominant Christian right wing limiting our freedoms. So no thanks to any sort of union. And also, this talk about a 51st state? Ten provinces and 3 territories would never consent to having their power limited to that of one state. It would take a determined military invasion to accomplish that. The US might win if it had to. But it would have to face a conflict that would make the Russia versus Ukraine battle look mild. And you would have to know that we would be sure to take the fight deep into their territory. Something they have not had to face for a very long time.
  22. I was wondering if you had lost interest or merely lost your way,
  23. The US does not need to take over Greenland. Anymore than Russia needs to take over Ukraine. What it needs to do is establish a strong mutually favourable relationship based on treaties and agreements. Like it has for decades. Having the US federal government taken over by madness does not change that.
  24. I do think it is his serious desire. It would make him a very important POTUS and secure him a place in history. I do not believe that he will actually do much to achieve it. However, he needs to clearly understand that there are lines even he needs to respect.
  25. The orange dotard is once again making things worse. In the Super Bowl interview he repeated his desire to force Canada into joining the United States. This insulting insanity has gone too far. Like most Canadians I can say quite clearly "over my dead body".
