Yeah, old people don't count. I know.

Have you seen what is happening with the rates of measles in children of the anti-vaxx community since 2020?
-
Lucky you. My mother died from it. My wife and I only had moderate cases, more than sniffles but less than the worst flu I've ever had. My wife was reassigned from her regular job to help in an overflowing ICU unit where she nursed more than a few anti-vaxxers more than one of whom changed their minds about the vaccine too late. Most but not all of them survived but some lost spouses or other family members. They were largely from the southern Manitoba bible belt and had leaders who told them not to get vaccinated and that ivermectin would save them if needed. Covid has killed far more people than the opiate epidemic did in the last few years. It currently is responsible for 1.2% of deaths last week in the USA up from 1.1% the week before. That is with high levels of vaccination keeping the rate down. The money spent on healthcare for covid victims could probably buy a few tent city concentration camps for the homeless opiate addicts who are one of the few groups you seem to empathize with.

It's hard to know what anyone truly believes. But I know for sure that "leaders" of the "new right" have been known to promote belief in all of those "ideas" and several more "alternative truths". The news media reports these things because they are things that conservative politicians have said. They did not make it up no matter what you think people you know believe. You only know what YOU believe. This is the definition of reality. Mama always said, "stupid is as stupid does".

It's simple a viral troll designed to outrage. Just small mean spirited nonsense. I would bet that no one here has actually seen or heard about it first hand just read online that "people are posting". It is the equivalent of the people complaining that they are being asked not to say "Merry Christmas". There are real problems to worry about. This is nothing but a distracting meme.

There are a few people in the world even more powerful than rich Americans. How many troops are under his command?

Can they stay in the enlisted ranks?

We don't print the world's reserve currency. We have to be a little more careful about that. Per capita legal immigration to Canada far outstrips that of the USA. But we have the obvious advantage of not having the third world at our doorstep and opening the door without knocking so we have a lot less unauthorized entries. Desperate people seeking entry is a problem in all the relatively wealthy western nations. It was the key reason for Brexit because being an island offers protection. It is a difficult moral dilemma.

Some of them get it -- Sullivan Before the Election

After reading what I can in a couple hours about "the new right" I will say that the only thing new about it is that it has no real cohesive goals or ideas. It is an alliance of social conservatives, many driven be religious beliefs and libertarians especially the "don't tread on me types" as well as those who feel they have been left behind by the new information/service economy. These groups are actually potential enemies of each other but are united in the belief that social progress is bad and the good old days can be brought back. There is as you probably know, nothing really new about any of it other than the unlikeliness of the coalition it brings together. Strange bedfellows indeed. Almost all of the aims of this movement to stifle and reverse the progress of man are things that I and probably about half of the world disagree with. The individual struggles will carry on with unpredictable results. But I can say this, western liberalism has brought to the people living in it the best lives and the most incredible achievements that the human species has ever seen. The things that you and your family love so much are the products of liberalism and enlightenment. Be careful what you wish for. -
Canada is already cutting back on immigration completely independently of US events. The government here has now basically admitted that it has been accepting more people than can be absorbed by the economy and services. Next year it is almost certain that the conservative party will win the election, possibly with a majority of seats and will cut further.

Google search returns many news articles with that title.. Which one are you referring to? -
I’m waiting to see how many pardons are handed out to in January 6th insurrectionists.

I appreciate that you are making an effort to explain. Democrats do not have answers either, that is very true. But they are not led by someone who is basically evil and a con man. So the main thing I can take from you is that you are conservative and believe in conservative policy over what a liberal administration would bring. No matter who is the leader, you don't care, it doesn't matter. -
Some of them get it -- Sullivan Before the Election

I'm confused, you seem to be defending him and saying that all the bad things he has done are really just inventions of the media. As if "the media" is under the control of some evildoer. I remember first hear about Vance and his book when it first came out. He was interviewed quite extensively on NPR which I listen to a lot. He did indeed have a many interesting viewpoints and things to say. And he clearly showed that he understood the immorality and danger that Trumpism and MAGA represented to him and to the nation. And now he even more clearly has shown how the lure of money and power can corrupt an ambitious person. I sincerely believe that you and many like you have been fooled. The people who worked very closely with Trump nearly all have warned you that they have seen him up close and that he is basically not interested in helping anyone but himself. The only thing you are going to get out of this election result is the joy of sticking it the libs. Enjoy it while it lasts because lighting dumpsters on fire is what comes next. These people can be counted on to continue to attack those they don't like and to try to impose their will but they are not interested in helping drug addicts. -

I can offer no real solution to that problem which is just as bad here in Canada. Are you saying that in desperation you support Trump in the hope that he can somehow help this? Do you think that so many resources are going into Ukraine that it is causing rampant drug use and addiction? -
I'm expecting a flood of TG refugees and forced birth victims flooding the Canadian border seeking political asylum
-
And that is what is really the most important thing to you judging by this response. Same old same old. You accuse people like John of not understanding you yet you have no clue what he cares most about. Just like Trump you really have no answers when challenged so you revert to gloating and attempt to change the subject.
-
Trump is so full of bullshit that he could possibly surprise us all. Now that he no longer has to plot reelection it may turn out that he is not really the red meat conservative that he has been posing as.
-
Yes, both are true. I'm reasonably sure you are smart enough to understand how those two things are not mutually exclusive. I'm less sure why you are bothering to say them as there is no real point. It almost seems like pissing into the wind. (which of course is something only men know about)
-
Sounds a lot like concentration camps. Like all of Trump's "plans" it is nothing but a off the cuff idea that will not happen. It is just another empty promise designed to appeal to those who don't think it all the way through. Simple answers for complex problems. "We don't like the homeless, so let's ban homelessness". The other half of the promise is redirecting the money going to the defense industry to pay for Ukraine's weapons to support the poorest people in the nation. If you still believe that this will happen after thinking about it for more than a few seconds your level of naivety is exceptional. You have become another follower of a populist, not the visionary you are hoping for. And yes, Trump is very clearly a misogynist and has a known history of forcing himself on women. The media did not choose those juries.

States rights take on a whole new meaning depending which side of the federal government your state is on. It will now be Newsome and Ferguson in the posistion Abbott and DeSantis have occupied. The largest economic drivers of the USA are in the coastal blue states.
-
I'm trying hard to understand but even discounting the man's behavior and record I still can't wrap my head around how people can just fall for the simplistic and bound to fail ideas presented as policy. What I do understand is the lack of any anything much beyond carrying on with the status quo presented by the Harris campaign.

Oh yes, he has the greatest lies. Best lies ever, sucker.
