Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia dead at 79
gowlerk replied to PhreeZone's topic in Speakers Corner
How the hell could anyone possibly get through that process without lying? Politicians are people, voters are people, people lie. Some people call it "bluffing" so they don't have to use the L word. A politician that does not lie would be incompetent. You can't handle the truth, at least not all the time. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Come on man. We've been though this. Glaciers and sea ice are retreating, CO2 levels are increasing. The facts are in. So can we please get on with arguing/discussing what and even if we should try to do something about it? Please, make an effort to be relevant. That's a terrifying job description. If I were you, I'd also have taken up skydiving for the safety it provides. Is that a high pressure job? Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.

Damn, now global warming has affected my listening experience.

Headline on NPR "Climate Change Is Killing Us, Literally — And Here's How" http://www.npr.org/sections/goatsandsoda/2015/12/07/458487877/climate-change-is-killing-us-literally-and-heres-how The link is to the story. The point it seems to make is that climate change is driving the expansion of the range of the mosquito carrying Zika. I agree with brenthutch that the headline is overreaching and sensationalist. If I was not too lazy I'd file a complaint with NPR's ombudsman. It damages their credibility to use headlines like this, and the premise of the story is weak. So I guess we have a new "war on . . . " now.

Are you Americans crazy enough to put Donald Trump in office?
gowlerk replied to 434's topic in Speakers Corner
I only can think of P.J. O'Rourke as being editor of National Lampoon in the 70's. I read every edition. Imagine my surprise to find out about his new found conservatism... Although I still enjoy his appearances on wait wait, don't tell me. Just did. Thanks for that. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free. -

There must be some..... there used to be lots of them. Scalia was one. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free. -
My understanding is that would make it the law only in the district the Appellate Court is responsible for. Other courts in other districts could rule differently. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.

Maybe we are: http://www.nbcnews.com/politics/2016-election/jeb-bush-ends-2016-presidential-campaign-n522831 Jerry Baumchen Republican party intellectuals must be getting worried now. America won't elect Trump, but the GOP may nominate him. Maybe they should take that deal on that moderate SC appointment while they still can.... Back to your original question about the value of an old Dolphin. Value is determined by demand. The demand today is for containers that are "freefly friendly". Dolphins can be factory updated to approach this standard, but the cost is over $400 usually. Your Dolphin probably still has snaps on the riser covers. It's not that the entertainer is unsafe, but it's not suitable for some of the newer style of jumping. Therefore the price you can sell it for is limited. Probably 600 to 700 USD is what you may be able to get for it. I would advise asking less if you want it to sell quickly. Some manufacturers have a spec for this, check the manual. If there is no spec I usually go with a 1" (2.5 cm) difference. But you need to be careful the overall length is not too short. You really should ask a qualified rigger to look at it. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.

That is correct. But the Senators will have answer to the people. One third of them this year. So if they do that, they better be able to sell their reason. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free. -
What is it with kids? It's always the same damn thing. Choose a container and only then worry about what canopy size they want. LPV reserves are not widely available used for cheap. If you buy a container too small, and LPV is going to be your solution, prepare yourself to buy new. It's not just you, it's the same darn thing over and over..... What you won't enjoy is having it become an issue in the general election. That will help the Democratic turnout. There are more R senators up for re-election than Ds this time. And at the top, the demographics already give them an advantage. The fight over a nomination is a potential disaster for the Rs. But that's only true for people who live in cities Gerrymandered to elect Democrats. Republican voters can be assured of a safe water supply. Not really. Look at California. Are there Rs in CA? Oh yeah, San Diego and Bakersfield. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free. -

At least Roberts will be able to go back to voting conservative on the important things. Maybe his old friends will forgive him for allowing Obama care to live. I can see the fight lasting a long time. It will probably be good news for the Democrats in the general election, because the nomination fight will stir up the base. The Republican base already cares deeply about the SC. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free. -
Should Hillery Clinton release Wall Street speach transcripts
gowlerk replied to brenthutch's topic in Speakers Corner
Monday we honor a man who changed the world by with the words “I have a dream” and “Free at last.” We continue to remember his words as they still echo that all of us are children of God. Here are just some of Martin Luther King Jr.’s powerful lessons. 1.) Stand up for what you believe in! “There comes a time when silence is betrayal. 2.) Consider others before yourself. “Life’s most persistent and urgent question is, ‘What are you doing for others?’” 3.) Give your best effort in everything you do. You owe it to yourself and the world! “If a man is called to be a street sweeper, he should sweep streets even as a Michaelangelo painted, or Beethoven composed music or Shakespeare wrote poetry. He should sweep streets so well that all the hosts of heaven and earth will pause to say, ‘Here lived a great street sweeper who did his job well.’” 4.) Love is the most powerful force. “Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that.” Thank you brenthutch for bringing that to my attention. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. About that nasty bit of 60s and 70s war in SE Asia. The battle against communism is the focal point of the US experience. But to the people who suffered the most, it was a war of liberation from French colonialism. They had the misfortune of being caught up in a larger battle between Russia, China and the West. Instead of what should have been a lot like the throwing off of oppression that happened in the American Revolution, they were dragged into a 15 year struggle that pitted China and Russia against the US. But despite that word being in there again, it still has a nebulous meaning. The name USSR also uses it, but we all knew their ideology then as communism. "Socialism" has it's root in the word society. No wonder it's confusing. It's an all purpose word. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.

Well first of all, that's above my pay grade. But more to the point those terms have different meanings to different people. There are so many ways to be liberal, like there are so many ways to be conservative. If your point is merely that some facets of liberal thoughts echo socialist ideas, you are correct. But you would label people who are in favour of gay rights as liberal, and there is nothing socialist about that. Liberals also tend to favour religious rights for all, and that has nothing to do with socialism. This list could go on and on. In short, both those terms are merely shorthand that you use to denigrate those who you disagree with. They are both mostly meaningless in the context that you tend to use them.
