  1. Yes, the data exists. Now there is a fight for whether or not a court can demand access. Given that with a proper court order nothing else is so sacred that it can't be subpoenaed it's hard to imagine the law will allow us to refuse a legal order to our data. The DoJ will win this fight. Completely and irrevocably. For better or worse. There is no right to privacy that is absolute for anyone or anything. The only thing that will limit the damage is the procedure that will be required to issue the order. If we are lucky we may be able to avoid having LEOs go on fishing expeditions whenever they can lay their hands on a device. Hopefully there will be a fairly onerous burden of proving a need first. 2. Bacon is not explainable by math. It is of a level technically not possible. Einstein was working on the problem, but his Rabbi advised him to stop as his soul could be in danger. (Before I get slammed for this, yes, I know he was an Athiest) Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  3. Possibly a Precision R-Max. But their website and info has become too unreliable and so difficult to find that it's starting to be hard to take them seriously in the market anymore. I looked for the specs, but they are not available. Icarus reserve 149 is rated for 197 lbs. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  4. Show off. I can quit anytime I want. I just don't want to. Quitting smoking was enough quitting for me. I don't want to go though life being known as a quitter like you Billy. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  5. I don't fully understand encryption either, but that is irrelevant. The phone exists, and the data that is on it exists. Apple may or may not already have the tool that the government wants, but they are capable of making it. Apple will lose in court eventually. I can see both side in the struggle, but big brother has the big stick, and he will use it to get his way. Time Cook is being a Condescending Prick about this. (Can we just start abbreviating it as CP?) Apple is protecting it's brand, not the general public, and as large and powerful as Apple is, it will lose this battle. The courts are bigger and stronger, and they have many precedents on their side. This case is not about this phone. It's about control and precedent. As far as the disaster scenario goes, China could use the above method of sabotage. But there are also many other ways it could put malicious code into that theoretical switch. 6. I'm so glad I quit sodas completely. Effing eh right. I get MY caffeine the old fashioned way. Strong black coffee. None of this Kuerig crap either. Straight from the pot. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  7. How do you know that? He did the math in the "new style". And I agree with his math. Also beef is 1000 times tastier than tuna. I can prove it with science. (sort of) Trust me. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  8. Sigh....Will you never grow tired of being a deadender? Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  9. Sorry, I may have come on a little strong trying to be clear. Between this thread and the other on in SC where drugs are coming up, I'm losing track of who is saying just what. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  10. If you have a drink at lunch, and then try to jump where I jump we won't let you, unless you don't tell us. It's not because we will think you are drunk. It's because we have a zero tolerance policy. And one drink is exactly one more than zero. It does not matter if you are impaired or not, that's beside the point. The reason we have that policy is because then we do not have to make any judgement calls. If you, or anyone else, have a problem with that, it's okay. But it won't my problem, it will be yours. There will not be any argument or discussion about it. I have sent cash paying tandem customers away because I could smell alcohol on them. They were angry and said they would not return. I thanked them for that promise. Zero. Tolerance. You are an adult and can indeed make your own decisions. So are we. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. 11. Darn. I didn't finish it and it's NLA for now. I'm searching for a torrent. Several torrents are available. No not kidding. I am not going into detail on a public forum, but instructors being stoned is not a big surprise to me. Out of all the activities I have been involved in throughout my life, skydiving has had, by far, the highest involvement in drugs. There was more in the past. In the present era of commercial DZs advertising to the general public and treating tandems like carnival rides, professional DZs no longer tolerate drug use. Especially in staff. If you are at a DZ that does, it is an outlier. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.

Agreed. There is no doubt that the military conduct their operations with more discipline. It's unfortunate that he spoke as he did on camera. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.

I hope you're kidding. I've seen some of that, but far from rampant. And snuffed out ASAP as soon as found out. Large professional operations like that in the US do random testing. Saying "The instructor looked like he just did a big bong rip" is crap. It's an extremely subjective thing to say, and is the lowest kind of unsubstantiated garbage. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  16. No problem at all if you're drinking at the DZ bar. No one objects to that. As long as you aren't hanging out on the packing line, or where the general public is with a beer in your hand. Bad image there. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  17. It's hard for me to imagine you could call someone a "condescending dick" if you were not angry. That's beyond sarcasm, it shows frustration and a certain lack of maturity to me. I imagine you could do better. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  18. Thanks again! You are a cultural source extraordinaire! The first 2 minutes of introduction by Opie are enough to recommend it. I'll savour the rest in small bites. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.

  20. Of the cloud services currently offered by the big players, I like Google Drive the best. This needs a thread in Bonfire. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  21. How the hell could anyone possibly get through that process without lying? Politicians are people, voters are people, people lie. Some people call it "bluffing" so they don't have to use the L word. A politician that does not lie would be incompetent. You can't handle the truth, at least not all the time. I would much prefer to be told the truth regardless if I like it or not, than to be told a lie. I guess your ok with dealing with liars. I understand your feeling, and that my view is cynical. But really, politics is the art of making people believe in the possibilities, not the realities. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  22. It would be nice if you would share some of your brilliance with us here. So far you are showing us that you are pretty good at name calling and anger. For the record, I am a grade 9 dropout currently driving a truck for a living. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  23. I was just there. It's a climate change denial blog run buy a guy who used to be a TV weatherman. That is the extent of his training. In other words, he is an entertainer. He likely found a way to cash in on BS and make money easier that doing TV. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Watts_Up_With_That%3F It is not a science site, it's an agenda driven site. And is also not relevant. Not in the game. Dead enders who time has long ago passed by. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  24. The last link I see from you is from wattsup. That is an opinion blog, not a science site. I'll ask once more. Do you ever trouble yourself with reading science from science sites? Or are you happy to just get pseudo information from blogs with an agenda and post them here? Do you really feel you are triumphing somehow every time you find more of the junk to link to? Really, you are not even in the game. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  25. That's because these posts all have links to opinion pages. I get my science information from science pages. Do you ever read science pages? Try reading here: http://discovermagazine.com/tags/climate-change It's not a scientific journal, it's Discovery magazine. Pop science, but science focused instead of politics focused like the stuff you post. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
