102 shot, 15 fatally, in Chicago over July 4 holiday weekend
gowlerk replied to airdvr's topic in Speakers Corner
When questions are obviously rhetorical, with the answer obvious to everyone concerned, don't be surprised when they are ignored. You can be pretty sure John is not going to answer, so why don't you just get on with your point? Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free. -
OK. I don't see it any differently than a toll road. Want to get a charge? Take this road and pay for the power. Don't want to get a charge? That's OK too; don't pay for it. But what about the obvious danger to the occupants of the car being charged by this invisible "inductive energy". Namely genetic mutations and autism? And some of them leak across your northern frontier into my country. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free. -
Yes of course. Youngsters know how to handle their cameras and devices. That's why they never crash their cars fiddling with their damned cell phones. They are MUCH too high tech savvy to ever have an accident from being distracted! Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.

Need input from USPA members, Parachutist article
gowlerk replied to peek's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Yes, and if CSPA existed for the purpose of making a profit enlarging the membership to include non-parachutists would make perfect sense. But CSPA is not a revenue raising entity, it's here to serve parachutists. Tunnel fliers could easily one day out number parachutists in Canada. When that day comes who do you think will look after the interests of skydivers? Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free. -
The smoke is getting a little thicker now. There is a strange orange glow that may just be flames. Lately I read that Robert Mueller is hiring prosecutors, not investigators. I wonder why? Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.

You may be wrong this time Jerry. A rare event, I know. http://www.mreclipse.com/Totality2/TotalityCh11.html Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.

The NCAA is and was focused on race as well. Making it a racist group by your standard. Too bad there is not a prominant leader like MLK to be assassinated. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free. -
Omar Kahdr to receive C$10.5 million settlement
gowlerk replied to riggerrob's topic in Speakers Corner
After thinking on this for a couple days I've come to the conclusion that this settlement and apology is a colossal blunder by Trudeau. Baird is making the rounds of the media trying to excuse it by saying that they would have lost the court case and that it would cost much more in the end. So Fucking What? This case should have been dragged through the courts as far as possible. Only then should the judgement have been paid. After exhausting all possible appeals. The message this sends is appalling, even to a big time liberal like me. Yes, what happened to Kahdr was wrong. And yes the Canadian participation in his torture was wrong. But there is still the matter of the grenade and the dead soldier to consider. This is going to cost Trudeau a huge price politically. It will not be forgotten for many years. Well past the next election. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free. -
That's what I do. A combination of soaking followed by the top load washing machine on delicate cycle. Extra scrubbing on tough spots. Cordera actually comes pretty clean, even the white spots. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.

My Canadian perspective is simple. If the IPC wants it, do it. But require all competitors to have at least a B CoP. That'll get them to drop their money grab quickly. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free. -
Indeed. A wash means a complete disassembly and reassembly. Plus the actual wash. Sometimes I charge $50 and sometimes $60. Plus the $75 R&I, and $10 more to inspect and pack the main. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.

What a lovely thought! He is an important contributor here. I'm glad you are recognizing him for his effort. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.

Hey Kyle, I think you will need to go get a rigger rating first. Probably no one else will want to repack and sign for your container after the paint job! Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.

Cheapest way to ship a rig from the US to New Zealand
gowlerk replied to baronn's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Use the Post Office. I've shipped rigs many places in the world. Use the second cheapest service they have. Not surface, that takes weeks. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free. -
Hmmm... educate me if you can. Which part of US Law directs one to the Federalist Papers when determining the Law of the Land? Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.

It does not matter what those papers say. They are not law. However, the 1st Amendment is Law. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.

I like your thinking. And the Law makes that quite clear. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.

The "free market" is a myth. There are no true free markets. Except maybe in a place like Somalia. Free market is anarchy. We all follow rules, we are just arguing about what those rules should be. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.

Believing in Trump is a lot like believing in God. There's no good reason for it. It's a matter of "faith". Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.

What strains credibility for me is the idea that raising the minimum wage is a bad thing in any way. If this were true, why is there a minimum wage at all? How much better off low wage workers would be if only this barrier to employment would be gone! They could work for $5/hr or even less. Think of all the advantages.
