Even experts do things on final to adjust. They just do more subtle things. On modern busy DZs the current practice is to avoid making any moves on final that could interfere with traffic behind you. And that is a good thing. When I was a beginner, on a Cessna 182 DZ we zigged and zagged across the windline as much as we wanted to get our accuracy. (we could be sure we were alone). I probably would have taken much longer to meet the requirements under the conditions you are being asked to do them with. Your two tools that you can generally get away with using are to adjust the entry point onto final by extending or shortening your base leg. And using front risers if you are overshooting. About the only thing they are constant about is that nothing should be done to control CO2 emissions. Everything else they say revolves around finding ways to defend that position. In reality that would be hard to imagine. It would involve "fixing" Obamacare. Which basically would mean putting more money into it and acknowledging that it is now permanent. Well... To begin with I do not base all my decisions around potential lawsuits. But more to your point I would defend it as a trade off between the perfectly correctable spiraling main situation and the possible unknown and less predictable outcome of a two out situation. That and the fact that there are no regulations or even guidelines on the matter. Just AAD companies doing marketing. These modes have never been tested for best performance in a student situation. They are just names of modes. I'm aware that waivers can not protect you from negligent behavior. However I believe I could easily make a case that this is not negligence. People who are born with a pelvis and soft tissue that does not match the way they feel about their gender are in a very bad place. It behooves all of us to show some compassion to them. I agree that surgery can never really solve their problem. But if they decide to go that route it's best to be supportive.
