    Yes, the culture wars have now entered a phase of mobilization. The current abortion fight is getting to the point where people who believe in freedom are ready to get off their asses and vote for a change.

It's a problem because the vast majority of the public disagrees with you and Starbucks knows that the publicity from this will cost them more money than they will lose from those who fear the police like you do.

    I'm not sure what they've done to offend you. They likely took a political position on some issue or another. But yes, darn them to pieces anyway. I'm a committed long term coffee lover. And I'm proud to say that I have , not even once, given Starbuck's a nickle worth of business.

    I could easily tell you were being sarcastic. You are often sarcastic. However, it was not possible to know which direction your sarcasm was aimed in. That's another one of your posting hallmarks. You like to keep it a little vague so that you can always claim to be misunderstood. The regulars here are mostly onto just how slippery Turtles can be. BTW, yes if you go back to the original story she was charged with armed burglary or some such gun related offense.

    I would imagine that for her it is a little like it is for you in the other thread. It's important to be pro-active when dealing with threats. Only instead of getting off the first shot like you are hoping, she is more into disarming her potential assailant. As the court ordered but could not or would not enforce. We all have to survive somehow.

    Bottom line? Sure, you had fun and no one got hurt. So you posted the vid here thinking you were sharing something funny. Now you are finding out that most experienced jumpers don’t really see anything funny at all. Lesson learned? Well...... one of them should be that video of a dive going to shit is not something to be proud of. But it can be a way to learn what not to do. So so now you know a little more than you did before.

    But not in our lifetimes. There is a huge difference between the 19th century British Empire and what now gets sometimes erroneously refereed to as an "American Empire". What America does is more like armed meddling than true empire. Trumpism is about as anti-empire as any POTUS has been in decades.

    All ram air canopies are capable of hard openings. Sabre 2s are so common that it sometimes seems that they are every second canopy. There are bound to be some from them. The reason so many people buy them is that they like them. The marketing and advertising crap is just that. Pay no attention to it. The people speak with their dollars.

    I agree with that principle entirely. But that idea needed to be applied evenly across all classes in society. The system in most states in the US is very quick to charge children and to try them as adults. Especially poor non-white children.

    Only in America...... Here we don't let A CoPs jump together, and never in 4 ways. My feeling is that the rule is too loose in the US, but too strict in Canada.

    I would guess that this is a judge who did similar things as a young man. He can relate, and he probably comes from the same sort of background. Only if a big deal is made of it at the appeal level and in society in general will it stop being acceptable. Both the offender and the judge need to be made examples of.

    Most of the time when people think they have a line over they actually have a tension knot. It's very difficult to look up and correctly diagnose the distorted canopy. Stalling the canopy and re-inflating it will generally clear a tension knot. It is far less like to clear a line over. If you do get a line over on a loaded canopy you will have line burn on you the top skin. If you don't have line burn it is unlikely that you had a line over.

    Possibly, but only if he did focus groups and then wrote a story around a marketing plan. Or, like many writers he just used his imagination and came up with a good plot, wrote the book, and now is selling it. He is a novelist after all, as far as I know he does not claim to be a prophet.
