So, the mass shooting thread and the stupid firearm accident thread have both turned hard into the abortion debate. I will note that there are no women posting about it one way or the other today. I for one am not going to post anymore about the subject of my opposition to forced birth in either of these threads. (At least not this week.) Feel free to start a forced birth thread.

You have still not defined "late term abortion". Abortions is the third trimester are not done for birth control. They are done for serious medical reasons. Women need to be trusted to make decisions with their doctors. The law has no business there. Canada has had no law on abortion at all for over 30 years. No one has shown that it had led to women using late term abortion as birth control.

It's very hard to respond to a vague anecdote like that. All I can say is that we need to trust women. Even if they do things we don't always agree with. You are implying, but not saying, that this woman you know chose to use "late term abortion" , a nebulous term if there ever was one, as birth control. Without details, and without her story from her words, your account means little. Women need to be trusted with their bodies on their terms. Period.

Sure, so the USA can and will just go on the way it has. Because you, and people like you won't see the problem as a problem. Or see it as having no solution because that would mean giving up some of your access to the very cool killing machines of war. You are projecting your feelings in a way that is not supported by facts. Again, a fetus is not a child. Study some anatomy and human development before stating incorrect and over wrought exaggerations. Abortions are unpleasant, and there is reason for those who choose one to suffer. There is no reason for you to presume to make judgements on other people based on your gut feelings.

The story clearly says " District Attorney John Champion says no charges will be filed in this case. " But whatever. It's just another of the nearly daily occurrences of killing machines doing what they do. Bullets don't care, they just travel until they stop. The more killing machines there are where people can handle them the more killing will get done. Holding someone responsible has never brought any dead child back to life and never will.

Accidental abortions are not a thing. A fetus is not a child. But yes, abortion is a thing that some people just can't help but feel they need to impose their views upon other people important decisions on. Abortion is not God, no one "believes in abortion". Many people believe in liberty and letting others decide instead of letting churches and governments decide.

Unfortunately the bullet passed into and killed the 11 yo girl who was beside him. It's kind of hard to do that when several states have decided, mostly by plebiscite, to openly defy the federal laws on the matter. No one wants a civil war, some other accommodation will need to be made. The current legal situation with pot in the US is absurd. And it can only lead to more people having contempt for the law as they see their state governments ignoring it. As I see it, State officials should be liable for criminal prosecution for making pot available and allowing the state to profit from the sales. Lock 'em up!

Smoking marijuana in America is legal. Possessing it is not. Clinton could have inhaled, as long as he did not hold. Sorry, edit for USA versus old Canadian law. Apparently US federal law prohibits use as well as possession.
