I quote my own post... I posted this one day, and today found myself waiting to do my "one more jump", number 5 for the day.. well... the wind went from about 8mph to who knows what.. then they announce "students on wind hold".. What do I do? I get on the airplane anyway lol.. I think this is the first time that on my final leg I just sat there, didnt move forward, didnt move backwards, just sat there and sank in one spot... Pings are NOT that big of an issue, ISP's even send pings out to there customers sometimes.. All a ping is is this packet that gets sent to an IP to see if it answers.. If you have a router, as stated here, PINGS will NOT get to your computer from the outside unless they are A: Allowed by some communication initiated by YOUR computer (highly unlikely that this would result in a PING btw) or B: Your computer is setup as the DMZ Host (DMZ = De-Militarized Zone) in your router, or you have setup some kind of forwarding in your router (Both of these options are under "Advanced settings" and should not have been tampered with unless you really know what your doing)... If you are setup as a DMZ Host, that would allow everything that the router doesnt know what to do with goto your computer... Other than that, your computers IP address which is on YOUR side of your router, is NOT directly accessable from the INTERNET side of your router. FGF #??? I miss the sky... I also follow if the students are being held, but then again I am a fairly new to the sport and choose to fly a light wing loading (less than 1 now that I lost a few pounds).. Expensive? I have saved a FORTUNE with USAA compared to other insurance companies, .. I have also checked recently just to see if I was still getting better rates, and I could not find anything better (not that I would switch if I could)... And like you said, they treat you very well. I pay a little less than $100 per month for full coverage + renters insurance, not to mention that they have lowered my rates every six months plus they send those refund checks out once a year (or did, heard they stopped), they just rock.. I've heard some mixed reviews on how well htat DO NOT CALL LIST works.... Do companies honestly sell enough to make it worth bugging everyone during dinner like they do? I have operated on High Speed INternet and Cell phones for about 5 years now... I would not do it any other way for any reason.. This is what I was told, .... As a student (during AFF) you could cut away and not worry about it, .. Dont want students worrying about extra costs when they should be cutting I guess.. Once I got off of AFF I had to sign an agreement to rent gear saying that I had to return it the same way I got it, or pay to make it the same... I had no problem with this, and it's no different with my own gear.. Why should you be less responsible just because you dont own your own equipment? FGF #??? I miss the sky...
