  1. He tasks me! And I shall have him. I'll chase him round the moons of Nibia and round the Antares maelstrom and round perdition's flames before I give him up. Ckret: I was probing this issue of clipping the belly reserve to the webbing of the NB6. No one backed me up on it. Do you have data? Have you tried it. It would be very interesting to know this detail for sure. I have no idea. Riggers will have to chime in here, but I just tried snapping my surplus belly reserve to main harness webbing and the reserve snaps are way too small to accommodate the webbing even if you fold it. Try as I might there was no way to snap the reserve to the main webbing. RIGGERS? Can it be done? 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.
  2. You make some valid points, but not sure that the quote above is true. There really isn't any serious money in skydiving. MANY jumpers, including famous ones, still give their time and skills to the sport for free. If someone is obsessed with money, skydiving is a poor place to look for it. If Don did some miracle, like getting a an AN 22, a dirigible, and a huge helo, you could still get a couple of thousand jumpers to come. He may, however, have lost his taste for WFFC. Despite the waivers, I am sure he gets sued over the fatalities that happen at nearly every one of the events. That hassle combined with low or no profit could wear anyone down. 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.
  3. 2009 or 2010? Rantoul? or Q? I really want it back, but the restart has to be spectacular or it won't sustain annually. The unexpected drop in fuel prices make 2009 possible, but with this bad economy I don't think we'd see the thousands of jumpers we need. Maybe 2010 is more realistic? I have attended six WFFCs. I miss it sooooo bad. It was the best. Those rare jumpships made it unique. You can't get any rarer than an ATL 98 Carvair: 85 jumpers, four props, radial engines and two decks. Long live WFFC! It ain't gone, its just takin a rest. Mark 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.
  4. If Hicks found a bunch of the Cooper money what are the chances he'd report it and turn it over? Reply - or the others who searched the area? Probably the same chance others have had. Why? Are you going out to look? G. 377 No, just wondering if the some or all of the missing money has been found and kept. Few, I think, would turn it in if they thought they could spend it undetected. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.
  5. Are any US scheduled airlines still flying passengers in 727s? 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.
  6. A G R E E. 101%. Can I get a witness? No Marvin, not if he's in China. Can't we all just get along? No Rodney, not here. In fact, this is a subprime forum, but ya gotta love it. Lunatics, geniuses and a few regular folks. For the most part, there is a strange unconventional harmony, somehow pleasing in its atonal chaos and intellectual entropy. When Cooper is finally ID'd and the forum shuts down, I hope we all have rich lives that will fill the void. Peace, 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. 9. Yeah, Jamey's account appears wrong in many details, like none of the rigs having reserve D rings. I too have looked for what a Pioneer 226 rig is with no luck. Have you queried Poynter? If the model number makes sense he would know for sure. I received training in both the no cutaway, no reserve pilot chute method and later, Capewell cutaway and reserve with pilot chute. The latter sure felt safer. Two rounds out was not a big deal, saw a lot of it when students forgot to shut off their early model Sentinel AAD after their main opened. Two squares out is scary as hell. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.
  10. Jamey's quote makes it sound like the cops demanded 1 bad chute and 3 good ones. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.
  11. Can't find a Duane Weber mask anywhere. Proof postive that the FBI is engaged in a coverup. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.
  12. no..it's not worth it. Like I said, you can't find an LBJ rubber mask online. Nowhere. If someone can, please post. Ckret bought up all the Point Break president masks as a preventative measure. Crime control takes foresight, planning and strategy. You can't just react. His buying spree only cost the taxpayers a few thousand and the savings on trials and prisoner upkeep will be huge. As a taxpayer, I aplaud him. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. 13. Snowmman, you buying gear??? Careful now, that's how you get addicted. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.
  14. In response to the question: "don't you know what's going on?" Nahh, just ask my teenage daughter. She thinks her dad never really knows what is going on. Not too many 727s flying passengers these days, in fact I don't know of any US airlines that still use them for pax. So that leaves DC 9s/ MD 80s. How will a copycat deal with the Cooper Vane? Maybe they plan to hijack the Perris DC 9-21? What would the ransom demand be? Most jumpers would demand Melanie (Perris DZO) as a hostage for sure. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. 16. Agree with all Croc said. Did the balloon jump at Quincy. LOVED it!!! VERY different from any forward moving aircraft jump. Worth every penny, but the price was reasonable, about $60 as I recall. Try not to get reamed on price, but make the jump, you will be very glad you did. 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. 17. Actually my Mister Smartypants comment wasnt a joke, nor was it being mean, have ya ever had a conversation with him? The dude is smart as can be. What do you mean I'm smart?... …what do you mean, you mean the way I talk? What? ... …Smart how? What's smart about me?.... …You mean, let me understand this cause, ya know maybe it's me, I'm a little messed up maybe, but I'm Smart how, I mean smart like I'm a clown, I amuse you? I make you laugh, I'm here to amuse you? What do you mean smart, smart how? How am I smart?... ……you said it. You said I'm smart. How the %^$# am I smart, what the ^%$# is so smart about me? Tell me, tell me what's so smart! Well, aside from choosing thrills over money (FBI vs that cushy corp security dirtector job) you seem quite intelligent. You haven't robbed a bank and despite considerable pressure, you have declined to skydive, further evidence of a decent IQ. We all throw money out the door of airplanes every weekend for only a minute of high and a decent chance of death, so how smart are we really? 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. 18. a few questions about the transcript: was "knapsack" referring to the rig or something which contained the money? why would Cooper reply to inquiries from the cockpit and say "everything's ok" ? It tells everyone that he hasn't jumped yet which is valuable info to his pursuers. oh, and do ya think Hillary can negotiate a truce between Ckret and Snowmman after she gets the Israelis and Palestinians to kiss and make up? Your thoughts Georger? 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.
  19. Re: the hospital photo. Nick Piantanida was one hell of brave guy who just had fatal bad luck with equipment. USAF Col. Joe Kittinger did succeed in a high altitude balloon jump, but he had the enormous technical and financial resources of the USAF behind him. Kittinger still gets tons of attention for his feat and he deserves it. Nick, unfortunately, is one of skydiving's forgotten heroes. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. 21. So those blank "deleted" posts by Georger are not truly gone? You are a smart guy Snowmman. Can you write a program to reconstruct a deleted post based on a search word generator and hit logger? You'd need a syntactically smart and context oriented assembler to try and make sense out of all the words "found" in a deleted post. Should take you a weekend at most . 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.
  22. The FBI doesn't have the power to do it. If they did, I wonder if Ckret would favor it? I think he'd oppose it for several reasons: 1. It was terrorism. I gotta stop thinking "folk hero." 2. Amnesty would akin to admitting FBI defeat. 3. If he solves the case, Carr will deservedly be famous. Why erase the opportunity? 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. 23. It's both. The new gear lets us original gangsters fly way beyond the point when we should be trading the skies for the golf greens. There have been freefall formations made by skydivers all of whom were over 80! 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.

  25. I know where you can hear that expression lots and so do you. Prisons and ex-cons talking about "getting the job done" "do the job" "No, funny stuff". Also old movies. Jo, I did hear that kind of talk among prisoners, true. They often referred to their crimes as "jobs". That is a bit different from saying I'll do the job" to mean "I'll trigger the bomb" but I get your point. I still don't think Duane was Cooper, but we can cordially disagree. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.
