hey, looks like Snow really has been banned by Quade, hopefully a short sentence. This reminds me of when they shut down all civil air traffic after the 9-11 WTC attacks. For a moment, there were no airliner contrails anywhere over the US. Atmospheric scientists didnt miss the opportunity to conduct experiments taking advantage of this brief lull. I can't quite make the analogy, but there are similar opportunities presented by Snow's temporary absence. any ideas? 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Sheridan published and posted quite a bit about himself and the FBI's suspicion that he was Cooper. It isn't like it was all under wraps until we stirred it up. He can have all the slack he wants and is apparently taking it. He hasn't responded to anything lately. I do feel for the guy, late stage cancer is a miserable experience. I do hope Sheridan is not beyond medical help. While we are discussing compassion, don't forget that Jo is not a well woman and deserves our kind thoughts too, aside and apart from all her Duane is Cooper stuff. Let's "nice up" this forum a bit. Kindness, respectful differing, all that corny stuff. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.

You can't win a low pull contest with a guy who can make the ground recede with a few keystrokes. Hope the timeout is short. You cant get his gear Quade because Snowmman doesn't jump... YET. Several of us are working on remedying that deficiency. Georger has offered to supply the rig and both canopies. G insists that both Snow's main and reserve be sealed and subject to no further inspections before Snow jumps them. G has is own lead seal kit, but the FAA says they have no record of him as a rigger. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.

Don't rise to the Snow bait Quade. Ignore alien orders. It takes two to make a pissing contest. Let him piss alone. If you do ban him make it short please. Thats all it takes to prove that you can do it. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.

I thought I read that he had fought in the Pacific as a Marine during WW2 on one of his posts off this forum. Maybe I am confusing Sheridan with Barb Dayton, the unenlisted teenage wonder woman who was the sourge of the Japanese in Pacific island combat. Anyway, even w/o WW2 combat, Pete has the balls, skills and experience to have been Cooper, at least in my book. The FBI's timing and lack of depth in investigating him is still very puzzling to me. I mean showing birth certificates of his kids hardly proves he was OUS during Norjack. He could have easily come in through Canada or possibly even Mexico. I hope Sheridan is gong to the VA for treatment. There have been recent advances in prostate surgery that could help him survive if it is still operable. If it isnt operable there are proton beams and other types of focused radiation treatments that might extend his life. The VA is pretty up to date in the SF Bay Area where he lives. I'd still like to buy an autgraphed copy of his book if he'd tell me how. Snow apparently has the first and only edition. I can't let that be. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. ********** I think we are reasonably on topic lately, but the personal insult stuff makes us look immature. I'd sure like to see it stop. I thought Quade had ceased reading this forum. He never rose to any bait I cast, but he was always there, watching, waiting, like a parent tacitly observing sandbox play and ready to intervene if it gets out of hand. Note that Georger does not (yet) use a derogatory acronym when referring to me. I like that. I actually like many of Georger's posts, but its isn't mutual. We disagree civily. Sheridan blasts all over the Internet. He is not to be pitied or coddled. I find it very refreshing that a USMC combat vet takes such a strong anti war and anti govt. stand. Pete is no hothouse flower leftie. He fought in the Pacific in WW2 and was in the thick of things as an "advisor" in Viet Nam. He was a smoke jumper, a civil rights worker and an accomplished early skydiver. He has a surplus of "street cred." I was jumping in the late 60s. Most of the ex military skydivers of Pete's age were gung ho in favor of the Viet Nam war. Pete turned out different, WAY different. He is interesting to me for this and many other reasons. I sure hope he comes back and responds to the questions about his knowledge of 727 jumpability. When did he know it was jumpable? If before Norjack, how did he learn? I doubt if I'll get post 666. If I knew more about macros I'd write one to autopost, but that's beyond my current skill level. Maybe I should just give my password to Snow. I am sure he could get me on post 666, but I fear what else he would do using my screen name. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.

How could Jerry be personally aquainted with so many credible Cooper suspects???? I don't doubt the truth of his claims, but am amazed and confounded. It's like there was a Cooper factory and Jerry worked on the production line. Bruce could sure run with that one. 337 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Sure doesn't. I keep wondering how the FBI worked on Norjack. What on Earth caused them to interview Sheridan in 2003??? And why did they quit as soon as his DNA sample didnt match the "Cooper" ones they had? How could they be so sure they really had Cooper's DNA? 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Amazon wrote: Here we go again, the "mine is bigger" wars never end. How's that massive stainless pipe working out for you Snow? Have you put it to good use or is it just there for bragging rights? Speaking of USB memory sticks, brand new ones in the wrapper are allegedly dropped in parking lots of high tech companies. When a "lucky" finder plugs it in, it loads a key logger and everything typed is emailed to the hacker who programmed and repackaged the stick. Could be urban legend BS, but it sounds feasible. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.

Come on Jerry, what is your connection to Sheridan Peterson? Pete, come back and tell me where I can buy a copy of your book. I'd prefer a signed copy. Can that be arranged? And Pete, did you know that a 727 could be jumped before Cooper did it? Thom Lyons jumped with you waaay back when. Do you remember him? He did sport jumps in Viet Nam too. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.

The battery described in Cooper's bomb (this may be distorted third hand info) was round. Those large round dry cells were 1.5 volts and not used to power spotlights radios or strobes. A common use of these large dry cells was to power glow plugs to start model airplane engines. The stuff you describe that Duane had sounds to me like an electric lantern that clipped onto the top of a special 6 volt lantern battery. Some had a blinking signmal light in addition to a spotlight. They were common in the 1960s. Military right angle flashlights were common then too. They came with colored filters. See the pciture below. http://www.allproducts.com/light/jiming/Product-200819105531-l.jpg 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.

There were some DZs where there wasnt much to ignite on the ground if you dropped a flare. Road flares drop molten sulphur and that stuff can create serious burns if it contacts skin. Flares in freefall sound like a bad idea for this and many other reasons. Night vision is very important in night RW. Even a too bright altimeter light can compromise it. A flare would blind most jumpers or severely restrict their night vision. I never saw a flare used, just heard about it. All the night jumps I saw used battery powered lights. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.

proof that civilians were searching on their own, probably looking for a body and the cash. If we only had the precise lat Lon coordinates of the ground strike. Talk about a major GEOCACHE! The message on the sheet must have been discouraging to the FBI. Not only had some civilians beat them to the search area, but they were rooting for the bad guy. Bruce, you have really moved the forum content up a couple of notches. Nice going. Hope Pete returns. He is one of the few old time jumpers who is left wing, anti war and skeptical of the government. That's refreshing to me. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.

Smoke flares were used in the 60s and still are. I never saw illuminating flares used even on night jumps, but I heard they were used. The night jump gear I saw used battery powered lights. I saw flour used a few times on day jumps In the late 60s but it wasn't very effective visually. Smoke flares were far better but posed a danger of burns and also line snags on the boot mounted flare brackets. Pilots hated chemical burn devices of all kinds. Some refused to carry jumpers using flares of any kind. Too dangerous. More than one piston powered jumpship I've flown in reeked of avgas. Bet it wouldn't have taken much of an ignition source to get things roaring. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.

This is a skydiver forum Bruce. Marriages to other skydivers are viewed as "negotiable". Marriages to Whuffos are totally ignored. Snow hasn't jumped yet, but he has been fully trained on ground procedures regarding the above. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.

QuoteQuoteSnowman, The Idiot's Frightful Laughter has been a real albatross hung about my neck. In 1970 I went to Pokhara, Nepal and lived in a mud hut for 21/2 years writing the book. That's where my children were born. I had nothing - no electricity, no running water, no sewerage, no heat, but they were the happiest days of my life. This may sound incredibly paranoic but if you know anything about Patriot Act 1 & II you'll realize that our Bill of Rights has be trashed. I have valid reason to believe that the Feds are blocking my mail especially that which I send to publishers abroad. Except for the ending, it is quite accurate. I'm both Grecco (Bertalini) and Grant. Yes, D-2024 is correct. The 14 indicates the number of years off and on that I was a member of USPA. I'm assuming that you have a lot of questions. You might want to read Khaki Mafia by Robin Moore. It confirms a lot of what I said about corruption. Well it's all being repeated in Afghanistan, isn't it? I must go. Sheridan Finding the correct thread is difficult, isn't it. *********************** Hi Pete, I am 377. I welcome your presence here, you have a lot to teach us. I started jumping in 1968 and still am active. I share your views about the Patriot Acts and donate to the ACLU, one of the few organziations waging a fierce legal war against this misnamed legislative abomination. We also share some similar history in the civil rights movement of the 60s. I served a a VISTA volunter in rural Louisiana when the Klan was still quite active. My work was focused on anti-poverty programs, rather than integration, but I still got taken to jail and threatened with death. Where can one buy a copy of your book in a way where you will get some proceeds? I'll be customer number 2. You have to admit you are a perfect Cooper suspect even if you didn't do it: Boeing tech writer during the time the 727 was rolling out, smoke jumper, skydiver with night jumps etc etc. I know of nobody better qualified than you. You can take that as a compliment. BTW, were you aware that Air America had people doing S/L test jumps from a Boeing 727 over Thailand during the Viet Nam war? If so how did you learn this and when? Keep up the good fight Pete. It is heartening to see combat vets like you who do not side with the Bush doctrine and who oppose war. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Petey's accounts of his life really do sound like boastful BS, but I agree with Snow, it actually checks out as true. There are some very curious parallels between his book and Norjack. As I recall there is text in his book about walking along the Columbia River in freezing weather with inadequate foot protection We also have his account of his FBI interview where he pays a lot of attention to Coopers thermal protection. It is 100% pure speculation but you can almost infer that Petey experienced miserable cold at night near the Columbia and is now very aware that Cooper needed warmer shoes, gloves, a flashlight etc. His various foreign postings look sooooo CIA, but he also seems too wacky to be a real US spook. Maybe he was a "spy who came in from the cold". I wonder if the FBI had anything besides the DNA which ruled him out? Jo, about lies: you said you had evidence proving that Duane received parachute training. If it's true, why not post your evidence? When you repeatedly make unsubstantiated grandiose claims about Duane being Cooper it's no wonder that many see those claims as lies. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. I wonder if the DNA really is Cooper's? Petey sure is a great fit for Norjack skill sets and knowledge. If he ws ruled out soley on DNA the FBI must be pretty certain that they have Coopers DNA for comparison. Great work Bruce, you really deliver the goods time after time. Bruce, do you think Petey could be Cooper? Explain your reasoning. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.

Rehab? Well, if thats where Snow is headed we'll have to airdrop drugs to him. No problem. With our GPS steered mini robot chutes they will be literally delivered right to his door at night. I know I wont get post 666, and that's OK. This is a skydiver forum. If something is desirable, another skydiver will make a run at it, no matter how much you want it for your own. Been there and done that in the 60s and 70s. Very content with my Triathlon 190 and PD 193 reserve thank you very much. I donated some old gear to Beatnik for his active collection. I think it's a great use of old gear and encourage others to do the same. Far better to see it restored and flying than to go from your garage to someone elses for a few bucks.
