Questions on Drop Zones in Alabama
white_falcon replied to skymom2's topic in Events & Places to Jump
Theres one outside of Pheonix City, Fryre DZ, they have a Static line program and jump rounds. Scott -
You let her. Plain and simple, especially if she is old enuough to do it anyway. I personally have a 5 year old, and when she gets big enough to fit the harness, I'm gonna have to figure something out cause she is ALREADY ready to go. Your daughter could get hurt doing a myriad of other things so if that is the major concern, it is truly, to me anyway, a non-issue. Just another parent's $.02 Scott

I'm married, and so is my wife and we started together. My 5 year old already thinks she can pack, and if they made a harness small enough, she'd be out the door, no questions asked. I think its a GREAT married sport with possibilities of being a great family sport. Scott edit cause i can't type

Yes Rhino, I did serve. I served in The Invasion of Panama w/ the 82nd, and in the First Gulf War w/ the 3 ID. I served in an combat infantry position in BOTH instances as an 11 C. I came home from the Desert w/ holes in my ruck from Iraqi Artillery and with images of PIECES of a buddy being picked up off the ground cause thats ALL THAT WAS LEFT. I was looking at the lights of Baghdad the morning we were told to cease fire and I, as well as every grunt on the line, was PISSED. Yes, Rhino, I have served. Now, if the money was offered, would I turn it down? Anyone would be outta there mind for turning it down but, does that mean "we" are ENTITLED to it? No it does not. I agree that one will never get rich in the military but, to echo earlier comments, if you are doing it for the $$ you are in it for the wrong reasons. As for the family members that are having financial problems, that is unfortunate, but what about all the faimily members that ARE coping with the financial situation? Its called sacrifice and the families (read spouse) of the service member should have realized that when they "signed up". I apoligize if you feel my previous post was a personal attack, it was not intended that way and, I respect how you feel about the situation but, I feel just as strongly that your proposal would undermine the moral of the entire military and turn the greatest fighting force in the world into a bunch of two bit bounty hunters. Scott

A G A I N I say, the U S military is NOT a mercenary force and members thereof SHOULD NOT be paid for SPECIFIC acts. It would be bad for many reasons, not the least of which are troop moral. RHINO wake up and smell the coffee, the U S military does not now, nor has it ever, to my knowledge, oiperated on the basis of monetary reward. Scott

I am a Licensed insurance agent, Property and Casualty, and will be taking the Life and Health licenseing test w/in the month. #1 8% sounds H I G H #2 What company is it? Check them out with your department of insurance or, thru AMBEST.com The only way I would invest in a VARIABLE policy is if the company was rated A+ or better. #3 Whole life polices in my OPINION are not the greatest investments, but that is a personal opinion. The best thing I can say, is just to R E A D the policy and ASK questions. There ARE variable products that GUARANTEE rates of return but not too many. Do your homework and if it IS a sound buy, go for it if you have the $$$ to spend. Scott

Au contriare (sp) When I was at Bragg (82nd Airborne for those civilian types) my roomate had a groundhog as a pet and we made him a rig. that Groundhog had somewhere in the neighborhood of 100 jumps from the 2nd floor windows by the time I left. I actually think he liked it, but it could have been the booze, I'm not quite sure. Anyway, ground hogs CAN skydive, or at least BASE.

Iraq Voter Turnout Placed at 72 Percent
white_falcon replied to bodypilot90's topic in Speakers Corner
So, that is what is being printed, here, in the USA, I wonder, what is being printed / said in other nations?? Dont get me wrong, I think this is G R E A T but, I also, have come to know, that the press in this country MAY be influenced in what they write. I personally hope it is going as well as is being reported as I am PISSED that we are there A G A I N. I think WE should have been allowed to finish what we started the first time and then, there would not be 1400+ U S servince men dead THIS time. Good luck to the Iraqi citizens and God bless our troops. Scott (the civilian formerly of the 82nd ABN div & 3 ID, (dont question my loyalties please) -
The entire Idea of paying a reward to the service person, or group thereof, is a bad one!! If we start to pay our military for specific "acts or accomplishments" we turn our forces into mercenaries who are "sold" to the highest bidder. This whole scenario is little different than the first Gulf War, in which I was DIRECTLY involved as an 11C, and the King of Kuwait wanted to give to EACH service person that was "in-country" $10,000. Our President at that time said "NO" on the grounds described above, "the U S military is NOT a mercenary force". At the time, I was a Corporal w/ the 3ID and I was PISSED, but with age and reflection, I see this as the appropriate decision. Thats MY $.02. Scott edited 'cause i cant type. sk

Extended warranties ARE a good thing, just DONT buy them from the auto dealer, they gouge the HELL outta you. There are PLENTY of GOOD extended warranties out there that you can purchase, many from you auto insurance agent, for a FRACTION of the cost you would pay at the dealer. Just another thought. scott

AIG is THE largest Financial and Second Largest Insurance group in the world so, it could just be the program / subsidiary that contacted you. EDIT-- I just checked the USPA w/s and one of the Companies IS American General, That is an AIG company. Your $$ would be safe with them, no question. Look up your closest American General Agent and see what they say, thats the sub I use, and WILL BE WRITING FOR as soon as the paperwork is done being pushed. Scott
-
Possible Turtle but quite frankly, I don't think so. I could be wrong, god knows its happened before. scott
-
Freaky, Is there something OTHER than skydiving that would get their attn?? I personally am insured w/ AIG for $1.5 mil, they are FULLY aware of my hobby AND coverage is NOT excluded. Maybe its just that you live in CO, but I dont think so. Being that I am an Insurance Agent, this really does not make sense to me. PM me if you want, and we can go over it. Scott

Sounds to me like maybe you HAVE figured out the real reason you have been late. Best of luck in your search for BLUE-ER skies. Scott

Racism and sexism are alive and well in the US

My previous "So am I hearing that YOU took advantage of opportunties either earned, or given to you but yet you still think others should be rewarded for NOT taking advantage of the same? " Was NOT in ref to AA, but to educational opportunities etc AND your hard work and GOOD decisions. As for "them" not being aware of the assistance out there, excuse me but, BULL $HIT. I see it everyday. It is a CHOICE. Its the Im gonna bleed the suckers dry by taking ADVANTAGE of the social programs in place ie the housing, food stamps, welfare, etc etc etc and make "The Man" pay for my exisitance because THEY owe me. Thats the biggest problem, the minority TRULY believes that the majority OWES them. It is a problem that lacks a GOOD solution. If you dispense with all the social programs, then people that TRULY need them are denied, but if you dont do something, you perpetuate the problem. scott -

[reply/] First of all, I'm good enough at what I do (and in parachuting) not to depend on handouts, and NEVER EVER would I cry out "racism" for pity. So am I hearing that YOU took advantage of opportunties either earned, or given to you but yet you still think others should be rewarded for NOT taking advantage of the same? I am just curious. Scott
