  1. It has to be "we" over "me" for us to unify as a nation and minimize the ever-widening gap between our parties. In 1982, Reagan and O'Neill were not only polar opposites, but some would say enemies. Yet, when the economy was tanking, not unlike now, they sat down together and came up with the Tax Equity and Fiscal Responsibility Act of 1982. Both sides gave a little ground and "we" worked together. "We" need to do that again. I am looking for a leader that can work toward unifying both parties. That can focus on the US' future. 1. If Trump winds up on the ticket, a) I will not vote, and b) I will probably change to the Independent Party, sit in the jacuzzi, sip on some bourbon, and every once in awhile roll over on my stomach so the world can kiss my ass. Thank you for the compliment.

  5. Perhaps my sarcasm wasn't dripping enough. 100 Round magazine goes waaaay outside the personal defense argument.

  7. OK. I can sleep a little better tonight. Ummm... Just how fucking smart is that man? We need to put him in charge of the US Space Force and put Nick Cannon as Secretary of State. Any man who can have 11 babies with 7 or 8 different women and they all relate - has some serious negotiation skills.
  8. I sometimes wonder why Elon continues to claim to save the planet with EV's and solar, whilst dumping massive amounts of carbon from rockets to get us to another planet that we can fuck up. Why don't we send people to the Arctic or Antarctica. Why aren't we doing more ocean exploration - I mean the population could quadruple and we could fit them in underwater cities. We could have electric water propulsion vehicles for moving around underground cities and the Boring company could use water to propel us from underwater city to underwater city. This is the kind of shit that keeps me up at night. Well, that AND - you ever wonder if WWIII wouldn't be a good thing? I mean, really, it seems like the only time we unify as a nation is when someone else kicks us in the gonads. We damn sure don't give a shit about trans, or ethnicity, or Karens on a rage. We focus as a nation. Why is that? I gotta go to the store. I'm making fajitas from rib eye and need to make sure they don't run out because of the cow fart tax.
  9. If you're the smartest one in the forum; aren't you in the wrong forum?
  10. Well written, Bill. The number of Republicans that wish to see a "Unity Ticket" continues to grow. My concern is that he makes it on the ticket and the number of R's who will not vote or will cast a dissenting vote.

  12. Thank you and ^ why I need to step back from this subject.
  13. Wow. You are really out in left field. I didn't assume the conclusion; I provided it. You have been provided facts and your response is Twitter and YouTube opinions from those that align with your position. They are wrong. You are wrong. Try reading the depth of research rather than regurgitating the gospel of others who are wrong. It's like JohnRich and 100th Monkey had an illegitimate son.
  14. I'll make it a short course. EGR Group is so far right wing; they make Rush Limbaugh look like a liberal and they asked that question for a reason. They knew the answer and were waiting to pounce. No vaccine was tested to prevent "transmission." The goal was to prevent symptomatic disease in vaccine recipients. See table 1 endpoint. And, I'm not sure that any vaccine will prevent transmission, but will let the scientists on here address that.

  16. I realize I'm singing to the choir here, "In his book: Dreams From My Father, Senator Obama makes the connection between politics and racism when he tells his readers how white Chicago Democrats vowed to vote Republican before they would vote for a black man (Harold Washington) to be Mayor of Chicago. Whites, Blacks and Racist Democrats is a modified version of the author's previous book: The Drama of Obama Regarding Racism." An interesting read: https://www.amazon.com/Whites-Blacks-Racist-Democrats-Perryman/dp/1935359304 For me; it's not about party lines. It's about how you were raised. As for the Senator; me thinks college football coaches can get away with murder.

  18. Perhaps I should have changed number 2 to number 3 and vice versa. a, They're already here and safe at a BRAC base (Ellis Island). b. Never said or meant to imply that acceptance was dependent on their ability to perform. Their future success will be based on their ability to perform, but that's true of any US citizen immigrant or not. I never said that. Now let's address the first and most important question: They came here for a new life and to provide better for their families. let's do that. During disasters, let's use Katrina. I set up thirteen 1,000-person stand-alone base camps and with that comes every facet and skill for a small city. Food Services, housing (hotel services/sleep quarters (male/female, families)) water tenders, latrine services (black water, laundry services, HVAC, electric, logistics, supply, (trucking/forklifts) medical, MHW, etc. etc. (Not unlike a civil affairs mission). I would bring a cadre of (usually veterans) for 30-45 day rotations. Disaster victims (refugees) had no money or no access to money. We went around and found out what skills they had or were interested in. If they had a skill, they would shadow or work with one of my team and get paid. When the cadre rotated out that disaster victim would take over and we would find another shadow. Mind you - no expenses, just money in their pockets to rebuild a nest egg to go home with after the disaster or move elsewhere to start over (and a job/employer). If they didn't have a skill, but an interest in a certain area, we had trainers who get them certified on site (food services, laundry, forklift, logistics, supply, etc..) or we would send them back to our training facility for those longer required courses (i.e., truck driver, Electrical or HVAC apprentice, etc.) - we now had a greater base of cadre for future disasters - or events (we did large-scale, like Superbowl, LPGA, Burning Man, etc.) In the end; we gave those impacted by disaster a hand up, a job, which builds confidence, self esteem, pulls people out of despair. OR, You could see how it's going overseas and review their model. https://www.migrationpolicy.org/news/european-labor-market-integration-displaced-ukrainians
  19. I have an emotional connection to Fred Guttenberg and sometimes emotion is a strong motivator (for me it's anger). Fred's 14 year-old daughter Jaime was killed at Parkland. My daughter is now 14 and the thought of it being a roll of the dice disturbs me. Last night, she had a sign language class at one of those big pizza franchises that specializes in parties, so they could enhance their skills. They had armed physical security. Bill and I grew up not too far from each other in NY. Our parents, ourselves had less concerns about gun violence than we ever had for our kids today. It's not right. Here's a pic of Fred's daughter performing at the school. A few nights ago, Elton John honored her by paying tribute and using her name while singing "Tiny Dancer." Fred and I don't agree on a couple of issues, 1) you're never going to ban AR's (at least not across the country). and 2) we cannot rid ourselves of the second amendment. But what we can agree on, and what I'm asking you to consider is to write your representatives and ask for the NFA to become law for the sale of all guns and ammo. It was codified in 1934 for machine guns, short shotguns and ammo - later extended to silencers and additional machine guns. The prohibitive tax back then was $200.00 or the approximate equivalent of ~4K for each weapon today. Today $200.00 doesn't even get you a nice pair of tennis shoes. And you had and still have to wait four-six months for the deep background check and waiting period. How's that for a cooling off period? Anyway, I've said and done all I can with you guys on this subject in this forum. I will continue to bring some form of balance between No 2nd amendment and carrying machine guns on your hip. If you get a chance. Logon to your representatives website and ask them to consider codifying the NFA for all guns and ammo. If you do; check the box that says you'd like a response from that representative. I wish you guys well.
  20. DAILY GUN VIOLENCE IMPACTING CHILDREN AND TEENS (1-17) Every day, 22 children and teens (1-17) are shot in the United States. Among those: 5 die from gun violence 3 are murdered 17 children and teens survive gunshot injuries 8 are intentionally shot by someone else and survive 2 children and teens either die from gun suicide or survive an attempted gun suicide 8 children and teens are unintentionally shot in instances of family fire — a shooting involving an improperly stored or misused gun found in the home resulting in injury or death https://www.bradyunited.org/key-statistics So, yeah, my question remains, What are you willing to do about it or are you just going to continue to post headline links every time another child gets shot?
  21. The primary mission of FEMA is to reduce the loss of life and property and protect the Nation from all hazards, including natural disasters, acts of terrorism, and other manmade disasters, by leading and supporting the Nation in a risk-based, comprehensive emergency management system of preparedness, protection, response, recovery, and mitigation. The FEMA Administrator therefore is assigned responsibility to: Lead the Nation’s efforts to prepare for, protect against, respond to, recover from, and mitigate against the risk of natural disasters, acts of terrorism, and other manmade disasters, including catastrophic incidents; Partner with State, local, and tribal governments and emergency response providers, other Federal agencies, the private sector, and nongovernmental organizations to build a national system of emergency management that can effectively and efficiently utilize the full measure of the Nation’s resources to respond to natural disasters, acts of terrorism, and other manmade disasters, including catastrophic incidents; Develop a Federal response capability that, when necessary and appropriate, can act effectively and rapidly to deliver assistance essential to saving lives or protecting or preserving property or public health and safety in a natural disaster, act of terrorism, or other manmade disaster; Integrate the Agency’s emergency preparedness, protection, response, recovery, and mitigation responsibilities to confront effectively the challenges of a natural disaster, act of terrorism, or other manmade disaster; Develop and maintain robust regional offices that will work with State, local, and tribal governments, emergency response providers, and other appropriate entities to identify and address regional priorities; Under the leadership of the Secretary, coordinate with the Commandant of the Coast Guard, the Commissioner of Customs and Border Protection, the Assistant Secretary of Immigration and Customs Enforcement, the National Operations Center, and other agencies and offices in the Department to take full advantage of the substantial range of resources in the Department; Provide funding, training, exercises, technical assistance, planning, and other assistance to build local, tribal, State, regional, and national capabilities (including communications capabilities) necessary to respond to a natural disaster, act of terrorism, or other manmade disaster; and Develop and coordinate the implementation of a risk-based, all-hazards strategy for preparedness that builds those common capabilities necessary to respond to natural disasters, acts of terrorism, and other manmade disasters while also building the unique capabilities necessary to respond to specific types of incidents that pose the greatest risk to our Nation. *The President may direct emergency assistance without a Governor’s request if an incident occurs that involves a subject area that is exclusively or preeminently the responsibility of the United States. The President will consult the Governor of any affected State, if practicable. **The Director of FEMA reports to the Secretary of DHS. The Secretary of DHS reports to the President. Final note: I was asked how I would go about it. I made a suggestion. What's your action plan. Anyone?
  22. You've yet to clarify if you had a gun specific conversation with him.
  23. You think shipping them all to a camp and holding them there is the solution? Treating those who present themselves as refugees at the border (as they should according to your laws) and those caught crossing the border illegally exactly the same? Are you suggesting this is done at the northern border as well? What about those who are nude models and are flown here on "genius visas" and then use chain migration to bring the entire family over? Sky, nothing in what I wrote above indicated "holding them" as a solution. It was all about creating assistance pathways to a new life somewhere.
  24. The President walks into congress (while on camera) and says, "The division is over. We are done arguing against each other and we're going to begin working for America again, so let's do this: 1. Kamala Harris is going to head up a bipartisan committee to review and reform the immigration laws. 2. We're going to have an all-governors conference and ask that all the governors bring an assessment of how many refugees they can take and what skillsets they;re looking for. 3. We're going to Re-open the Bergstrom Air Force Base in Austin and Kelly Air Force Base in San Antonio (BRAC bases) as refugee staging areas. 4. We're going to mobilize the National Guard that have Civil Affairs units to assist with HHS and State HHS', DHS, FEMA and border patrol to facilitate the refugees migration to other states. In addition, we're going to mobilize those JAG units to help with the paperwork. 5. Each state will mobilize their National Guard to act as a receiving station for the orderly and humane processing of these refugees. 6. Any refugees found to be criminals in their own country or found carrying illicit drugs will be deported back to their countries' immediately. This takes effect tomorrow. OK. Maybe the Kamala was a stretch (or she would have done it already).
  25. Sorry, it was probably over your head.
