  1. You wanna see something happen in Corporate America? Place the same requirements on public corporations as private corporations. If you do not maintain budget; it reflects on the Cash Flow Report. Then you have to go to the BoD to hit the line of credit at the bank. If you max out the line of credit; the CFO has to raise his/her hand to the BoD (owners/shareholders) for a "Cash Call." In Chrysler's case, the union is a prominent investor in the automaker. 2. Was showing it off to a friend of mine with the Sprint/Nextel phone. The Rugby also being Mil-Spec, he felt that my phone was even more durable than his plus being larger than his.... was impressed. The only thing I found annoying is the PTT being on the left side and my being right handed would inadvertently hit the PTT for the first few days of ownership. http://www.testfreaks.com/blog/review/samsung-rugby-sgh-a837-reviewed/ The video in the review gets old after about two minutes. EDIT: BTW... I knocked mine off the pickup dash with enough velocity that it did the bounce across the concrete parking lot thing while I did the "fingernails on the chalkboard, oh shit shrug" thing after having it a couple of days... Not a scratch. Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.

  13. Not to defend his post (which I agree with the majority), but it is possible to have a low D number, but only have 10 years [In Sport] as opposed to {Years since first jump] My first skydive was in 1981 (27 years ago), but I only list the first nine years of being active, leave out the nine year break, nine years back in the sport, thereby reporting [In Sport: 18]. Having said that, D-55555 lives near me with 7,000 jumps, was one of my Instructors (back in the day), and has been a friend since 1981. He got started in the mid-70's making someone in that D-range ~55 years old. Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.

  15. Nine year break after getting out of the Army, finishing college, then Grad school, then entering corporate America, paying off student loans, etc. etc. Even tried the "normals" life, hunting, fishing, golf, motorcycles... all of which were - meh. Once you've done it and if you are one of those which receives that sense of calm, the skies never look the same again. I've known a few that have had to take several breaks. 16. I finally got rid of the Treo and went with the Samsung Rugby - love it. Thereby, removing all internet, texting, email, etc. from my phone. New Rule: If it's important; call me. If it can wait till the end of the day or tomorrow; send me an email. Life just got lots simpler. Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.
  17. We were making a NC/T jump in the military using... as you know, S/L D-bagged 11Bs. We were supposed to exit at 800 feet. The pilot inadvertently flew about an 1/8 of a mile to the left of the L which is acceptable, but in this case it placed us over a 400 foot knoll making our exit at 400 AGL. Calculating forward throw, we were under canopy at ~240' I checked canopy and hit the ground totally unprepared and a bit shocked thinking I'd missed something on my canopy check and then wondered what I'd broken. War stories aside: I can't help but think this is a bad idea on many fronts. The compression of time in the decision-making process for the skydiver, the lack of time in decision-making if one has to go to reserve and then figure their outs around a crowd. Having done my fair share of demo jumps into closed stadiums, with the first criteria being the publics' safety, can't help but wonder if - one; just one injury of any type to the crowd is worth the media attention of an extraordinary jump. 18. Technically, about the only thing he can do as President-Elect is exactly what he is doing. Reviewing the current policies in place, developing a transition team and formalizing a plan of action. Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.

Yup.. that's about what would happen. Then, the Chief would probably write me another one. Seriously. Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.
  20. Whereas, homeschooling in Oklahoma is supported/protected by the Oklahoma constitution. Most of the parents I know that are homeschooling their kids use one of the numerous accredited curriculum and have independent testing done by that chosen agency. In many cases, the home-schooled children exceed the scores of their peers in public school. Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.

    Good Cop

Long-time friend, former FTO and now Chief of Police used to instruct rookies against asking those kind of questions. Exlained that it was putting the offender in a more defensive position than needed. Just simply state, "Sir/Ma'am, the reason I pulled you over is... So, that's what made me come up with the answer to that question. Needless to say, I know about a thousand cop jokes and my old time favorite is the one about the guy rolling thru a stop sign and gets into an argument with the officer about slowing down. After about five iterations of the officer explaining the difference between "slow down" and "Stop," the officer goes back to his vehicle, gets his baton and starts beating the shit out of the guy and asks, "Now, do you want me to slow down or stop?" Interestingly enough, I got pulled over the other night by HiPo for that exact reason and when he approached he pulled me over and told me he had pulled me over for "not quite coming to a stop at the stop sign" I just started laughing. At first, he became a little indignant and asked if I "thought there was something funny about not stopping at a stop sign. I apologized and told him that it reminded me of the old joke... (no, I never play the friend of the Chief of Police card, cause that'd only piss the nice policeman off more and even tho we're friends... he'd write me the damn ticket for more). Anyway, the officer was no less than professional, ran a check on me and saw I hadn't had a ticket in forever and just gave me a contact report. To which I usually respond, "Well, if you don't know; then I guess there's not going to be a ticket, is there?" Yeah, I get the ticket, but we usually both get a laugh out of it. Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.

  25. Take her out to a really nice dinner. Explain to her that you know you've been being a jerk, you don't know why and you need her help. Ask her to help you explore the reasons you're being a jerk (situational, no outlets for venting lately... i.e, skydiving, rock climbing, male-bonding things and time to do it, etc.) Ask her for advice on ways that you might vent in other areas and then REALLY listen.... As in - mouth shut the whole time and let her vent about your being a jerk and how it makes her feel. You know how it makes her feel, you know when you feel it coming on and maybe you can ask her to throw the orange jerk penalty card and at that point; go do that something that gives you a release. Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.
