  1. I'll be there in spirit -- if you take my spirit with you!
  2. Where I live is the best scuba diving anywhere ... biggest variety of life on the planet ... sadly, I haven't strapped on the tanks for about 8 or 9 years ... one of the last times I was out, I shot video of a sea-lion doing barrel rolls in front of me (at this truly incredible dive site: http://www.racerocks.com/. I know where at least 1/2 dozen octopus dens are -- lots of wolf eels naerby, too. West Coast of Canada is awesome for diving! (A little cold, maybe -- but hey! That's what dry suits are for!)
  3. Agreed ... I submit that it is a good idea to devote a jump entirely to tracking every now and then. I jumped for the first time since February today ... only got to 6 grand 'cause of clouds, but I did work of the track, even though I was alone.
  4. Crooked Ello, ello, ello… what 'ave we 'ere then…? You're living close to the edge and it's only a matter of time before you're collared by the Old Bill. You may have fallen on your feet so far, but it won't last forever. Have you ever thought about a more rewarding pastime? (Emotionally that is…) Based on your answers, we have calculated the maximum penalty for your crimes*: Years in prison: 84 Potential fine: £9500 Plus a possibility of the death penalty! Hmmm ... am I bad?
  5. quote]First, yes, you have to have a hotmail address, but most peope have that anyway. Most people? I don't think so... anyway, dropzone.com chat is just dandy!
  6. 1. Talked about off and on for ten years ... finally got invi9ted bya friend, did the First Jump Course, and loved it! 2. 5 years and a day (started 16 May, 1998). 3. Loves: Cleans all the cobwebs out of my brain, and makes me forget for a while the mundane routine of daily life ... requires courage, dedication and hard work to advance in skydiving -- a good challenge ... meet and get to know cool people. And most of all -- I can fly, really fly!!!!! Hates: Waiting for my load, or for other jumpers to arrive (I jump at a small dz) ... it's damn expensive! ... when people get injured or worse.
  7. My kids take piano lessons ... the other day, I was listening to a new song being explored for the first time by my 8 year old ... after a few notes, I realized she was playing the theme to Gilligans Island! (I always liked Maryanne better than Ginger!)
  8. So what do all the big city folk do at a rage?
  9. Well you've got the tools .. improvement in technique will come!
  10. WooHoo! That was rather cool! Thanks for sharing!
  11. I have no idea how many times we've discussed this ... but one more time is ol, I guess. I live 15 to 20 minutes drive from the dz ... the plane often flies at about 4500' over my house on the way up ... drives me crazy when it is a nice weekend and I am not jumping.
  12. Ditto ... but work is what you make it, wherever and whatever you do. The key is to work at something you love. Be happy in your job. I used to wear a jacket and tie ... now I wear jeans. I used to sell tvs and stereos ... now I produce tv news. It's way more fun! Good luck in making skydiving your career!
  13. The instructor did NOT commit suicide. Suicide is intentionally taking your own life. These instructors clearly had no intention of dying as they exited the plane, but circumstances pushed them to make a difficult decisio in a split second. I have an enormus amout of respect for anyone who makes an effort to save someone else's life.
  14. The clouds cleared here in Victoria just in time for us to see a partial lunar eclipse! Coolio!
  15. I think ThighMan was jesting
  16. Uhh -- Canada's health care wywtem is NOT a "disaster" ... while there are some long waiting lists for particular types of surgery, everyone -- EVERYONE in this country is entitled to health care. Our system is a model for the entire world.
  17. I have a problem with this sort of attitude. The language you speak is your choice alone, and no one elses business. Considering the vast amount of immigrants in your country, perhaps YOU should try to learn THEIR language as a courtesy to them!

    Did you see ...

... on the news (Friday, 9 May) the video of a base jumper going off Nelson's Column in London, England? It's just 56 metres high!!!!! Very cool video! How low do YOU go?
  19. At my small dz, there are very few "packers" ... and said "packers" are rarely around ... so we all pack our own gear pretty much every jump!

    the devil won

Hope ya have a fun summer, Lisa!
  21. That's been out there for a couple of years ... still funny, though!
  22. Of course we could ... problem is -- nobody has the political will to to it.
