Here we have "U-Brews" ... very professional craft breweries ... 6 50 litre kettles ... all ingrediants provided. The brewing stage takes 1 1/2 hours ... measuring grains and hops, boiling, and finally adding yeast. 2 weeks later, 1 1/2 hours to bottle. Better beer than anything you can buy! I would like to home brew, but I would need a very sophisticated set up to brew beer 1/2 as good as I make at "Bedford Brewing"

"Gandalf" has been here in my town shooting another movie the past couple of weeks... I'd like to sit with him and watch The Two Towers ... then go for a beer after and talk about his experiences making the movies!

The concept of "blind faith" frightens me ... As our ability to investigate our environment -- from sub-atomic particles to the large-scale structure of the universe -- grows, it is becomes clear that we have incredible potential for discovery ahead of us. But our species is young ... there is much more to discover. I believe that one day we will understand what happened in those first nanoseconds of the Big Bang. But we don't necessarily have "forever" to answer these questions. There is an asteroid out there on an intercept course with this planet. In the past year alone, there have been a couple of "near misses" ... our species will be wiped out if we do not get off this planet, and spread our "seed" to other worlds. Tell me this: Why would a "God" put us here, and give us so much, only to destroy us as we grow??? Try to imagine how the dinosaurs would have evolved if 65 millions years ago, an asteroid hadn't spoiled their party! Evidence of evolution? Supergerms ... bugs that quickly evolve to resist particular antibiotics.

seeing as you asked ... I'm in the atheist category ... but if I believe there could be other intelligent life in this universe -- do I still qualify as an atheist???

That wind was big time here, too ... blew down a tree in my parents yard, right over their carport ... cost $900 to get it removed... thank goodness for insurance. I was shoting video of the wind blowing thru the 100 feet + douglas fir tress around my yard, when a big branch broke right off from near the top of one, sailed thru the air, and crashed down in the driveway. Crazy shit out there, man!

I received a Christmas card Friday from good friends we haven't seen for a year and a half (they live in another area) ... the first words of the letter inside are "This has been the worst yaer ever for us..." Amoung other things, my friend's sister was inside the nightclub in Bali when the suicide bombers killed 200 people. Her and her husband (they were on their honeymon) were not physically injured, but will carry the emotional scars the rest of their lives. My year has been great -- but that certainly added some perspective ...
