    $42 for gas!!!!!

The price of gas where I live rose yesterday to 91.4 cents per litre ... possibly the highest in the country.
  4. I'm with ya ... it is sorrowful when ANYONE dies in an accident, particularly on the job ... 2 NYC cops were murdered less than 48 hours ago in an undercover operation. They died trying to protect the citizens of their country ... it all tragic
  5. You could invest in a cd player ...
  6. "Slam"? A little touchy today, aren't we? I think Bill is using "humor" to make a point ... I mean really, is the any wisdom in taking the "French" out of French Fries and French Toast. It sounds like the reaction of a bully who doesn't get his own way ... a childish act.
  7. Someone I work with once asked "what if your parachute doesn't open?" I replied (with a straight face) "Gee, I never thought of that..." I guess it wasn't a dumb whuffo question -- just a smartass skydiver answer
  8. This was discussed in great detail here http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=383232;sb=post_latest_reply;so=ASC;forum_view=forum_view_collapsed;;page=unread#unread
  9. I don't people who don't continue with skydiving after their first jump are "losers" ... without a doubt, this sport ain't for everyone! And it's better that way for those of us that stuck with it
  10. Sheltered? Not sure what you mean by that. My friend's sister had an appointment in one of the towers at 2pm that afternoon ... I produced a television newscast that day that was jammed full of information about what happened that morning. And I have been putting together newcasts eveyday since that containing stories, interviews and information about the changing world we live in. I am VERY informed about what happened there. Perhaps you misunderstood my point. Despite the fact that informed people around the world do not believe attacking Iraq will eliminate terrorism, your cowboy president is gonna go ahead and launch a war. The result will be horrific. Millions of displaced people, outbreaks of disease, a gigantic humanitarian crisis. Infrastructure destroyed -- electrical generating facilities disabled, clean water distribution systems damaged ... the medical system that is already poor at best will be further challenged. 23 million people live in Iraq. They are not the enemy. I have no doubts that Saddam Hussein supports terrorists ... but so does your government. Who do you think armed the Taliban, armed Saddam Hussein??? US foreign policyhas created a hell of a mess. I just don't believe that war is the solution to cleaning up your mess. Fortunately, my government has been working very hard to find a solution to this crisis. I sincerely hope the US finds the wisdom to avoid war.
  11. People from many countries died in the terrorist attacks that day -- not just Americans. Terrorism is a terrible thing, but it's not new. Many people died in Oklahoma at the hands of a terrorist. The IRA, Basque separatists, Death squads from Central and South American nations come to mind... far to many people around the world have died when prople/groups use violence to resolve their issues ... much like what may happen in Iraq soon ...
  12. Look, I get by back up when someone dumps on MY country ... I guess we all can be a proud of our countries ... I now step back from the edge of the brink we are on in this thread ... after all, it's just a comedy sketch! Remember, Canada and the USA are best buds ... we are far more alike than we are different. (But WE still have 2 Olympic hockey Gold medals)
  13. I did!!! Keep in mind that Stockwell Day is a right-wing nut who believes that men walked the earth with dinosaurs 4-thousand years ago. "Doris" is among the politer names I can think of...
  14. England like the US ??? Man, what are you smokin'?
  15. We have many bald eagles around our dz. We land in Farmer McNasty's field -- and I have seen as many as 12 blad eagles in flight above the fields during my canopy ride. A breeding pair have a nest in one of the big trees beside the landing field, and I have flown over it and seen Mama or Papa eagle in itseveral times. It is VERY cool fly canopy with the eagles in the air nearby.
  16. I don't give a &hit about you ... but I enjoy Rick Mercer's comedy a great deal...
  17. Lighten up, Rhino ... Rick Mercer is about the funniest person out there. But you, on the other hand, by insulting his humor, reveal much about yourself.
  18. I'll always think of you as a rocket scientist, Wendy! (In general, I have little love for management)
  19. If I had to live somewhere other than Canada, it would be Australia... as long as I could still watch "Hockey Night in Canada" on the tv...
  20. Me? I'm a tv news producer -- so don't go dissing broadcast journalists!
  21. Anyone who talks on a cell phone while driving is plain old stoopid... but I think all the soccer Moms out there deserve thanks for helping our kids take part in their chosen sports.
  22. It's snowing here in Victoria this saturday morning ... oh well
  23. Hmmm ... could it have anything to do with US foreign policy?
  24. I've had bad experiences with chiropractors, as have other I know ... I'll avoid them forever. A minimally invasive procedure called a "Percutaneous Discetomy" fixed my lower back pain problems about 11 years ago. I walked out of the hospital after the procedure. It beat the heck out of the other medical otpions I was offered, whick included being opened up in a major operation by a surgeon. I hope your pain goes away without any invasive procedures!
