-
im currently, as i type this, studying for the patent bar. since i haven't gone into practice yet (i need to find a job, and i graduate in a month!!!!), i dont know what to tell you except that if you're going to do this, i hope you really really like the subject matter. i think IP in general is very love/hate. also, the review materials for the patent bar are EXPENSIVE!!!!

i loved this movie, and am getting it as soon as it comes out on DVD. i read somewhere that part of the reason it had low numbers over the weekend is that the length of the movie made it so that it would only run in a limited amount of theaters. i hope the numbers pick up because it would suck to have original work such as this stifled even further in hollywood because it odesnt make money.

i have the ps2 version and it rocks.... not only that, but it has been announced that the makers of guitar hero 2 are making "rock band" which is guitar, bass, drums, and a mic for a lead singer......

FreeflyChile replied to shropshire's topic in The Bonfire
meanwhile, here in Chicago, the trains get even worse as the CTA takes years to fix things.... -
hahaha yeah, thats fun... i palyed battlefield 2 a lot online but the only online game i have played lately is the formula 1 ps3 game - which is great fun but the way the menus are set up to find games arent very good.
-
im waiting for more games to be playable online on the ps3 -- i just dont play enough online to justify paying for xbox live, and the ps3 network is free
-
i love civ 4. also, i have picked up sim city 4 again lately after a long hiatus.

that's true.... i was trying to limit myself to more mainstream sports, where there are established "professionals"...but in the broad realm of sport in general im guessing there are billionaires doing that kind of thing so james wouldnt be the first athlete billionaire.
-
im surprised there are no billionaire athletes -- i would have thought jordan would have hit that mark, or michael schumacher? he better hurry, because there's a minor league pitcher in the dodgers' system that has some property where they discovered minerals worth about 2 billion dollars.....or is that guy already a billionaire because he owns the property with all the minerals in it?

First Brown Bear in Germany in over 170 years - Promptly shot

Not in Chicago - Tank Johnson is doing 4 months! -
I'm currently working through zelda on the wii, crackdown on the 360, and the f1 game on the ps3. for the last few months, i played the crap out of wii sports -- simple as hell but really really addictive. my current favorite game (over the last year or so) has to be oblivion for the 360 - that game is a work of art. yes, im a nerd.

skydivers voluntarily quitting the sport?
FreeflyChile replied to aguila's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I think there are absolutely people that just leave the sport because its not interesting to them, or at least its no longer worth the hassle. I haven't quit the sport, and i do not plan to, but there have been times where i have thought about it. Im entering my 10th year skydiving, and my interests in the sport have ebbed and flowed, and generally how interested i have been in the sport has really depended on how accessible my interests i nthe sport were. My first few years, through the beginning of my freeflying, i was blessed to learn at a small-ish dropzone that had a tight group of jumpers of very high caliber, so i always got to jump with people who were very good and it felt like i was progressing quickly. also, since i was a newer jumper and since i wasn't really spending a lot of nights at the dz, i wasn't really privy to the political side of the sport. after graduating from college, i moved farther away from my original dz, but the learning continued as i lived close to 2 very good dzs in terms of skill level. i continued to learn freeflying, and i thought i was developing nicely -- not really that good, but safe and getting to do some really cool stuff with the big boys. then the last 2 years, i havent had much money because of law school and i have moved into the city, where im farther from both dzs as i used to be, and there is more to do than in the burbs. also, while i love the sport and spent the better part of the last 10 years obssessing about it, constantly pinign for skydiving and missing other things (like hanging out with friends, going out in the city with my new classmates) got kind of old, so i dialed it back a bit. also, in the 2 years, it felt that since i wasn't jumping as much, i kind of lost touch other jumpers..the atmosphere wasn't as fun or welcoming as it used to be, especially at the bigger dz. im not blaming anyone -- obviously people that are "regulars" are going to be more friendly with each other, know each other more, and generally be more at ease with each other than with people that only show up occasionally. this year, im ready to get back in the saddle, but the fact i havent jumped much the last couple of years has me a bit nervous. also, i know that because of my lack of jumping, im not as good as i used to be, which is frustrating considering the amount of money this sport costs. also, the people at the dz i will be jumping at are great and i now realize that to have fun with this sport i need to do it regularly (for safety reasons and for the purposes of just improvement). still, given the time commitment this takes, the alternatives, and the expenses involved, there were times where i could understand perfectly why someone would want to do something else -- it's not that i couldnt afford skydiving or that i couldn't dedicate my saturdays to it, but the combination sometimes made it more fun to do something else. when all is said and done, though, i can't see myself ever really quitting. i could, however see myself having groups of years where i jump a lot with years "off" in between where i do 50 or so jumps just to keep the rust off. -
I want to get HD, but like others have stated, the biggest thing holding me back is the fact that i have a rawa that fits my pc120 beautifully and i'd rather not go to a top-mount. i usually keep my footage in the tapes themselves and only transfer it to my comp when i edit, so memory concerns and stuff like that wouldnt be a problem. i view my videos on a 60 inch sony sxrd, so i'd love to see how good the sky can look while im sitting on the ground. i dont do any video "work", all of it is just for fun, so im not sure if i'm the type of person you were referring to in this survey. as far as the blu-ray/hd-dvd stuff is concerned, i think blu-ray will win but i dont really have any immediate or close to immediate need to put videos onto a disc so it's not a concern of mine.
-
my conclusion is that if i ever become successful enough to get within shouting distance of a billion dollars, i should limit my income to 900 million so as to avoid being included in tidbits such as this, as well as the righteous indignation that followed. oh, wait, if i had a billion, i wouldn't give a shit.

it sounds like you had quite a bit on your mind when you took your hiatus from school. im guessing that once you start up again, now that things seem more stable, you'll be pleasantly surprised that class is not as difficult as you remember it!
