Has the entertainment value of "The Bonfire" declined?
FreeflyChile replied to stitch's topic in The Bonfire
I think it has as well. I miss some of the old posters...people I've actually met and interacted with and skydived with. -
What birthday traditions made you feel special?
FreeflyChile replied to windcatcher's topic in The Bonfire
a good friend of mine had the tradition where on the person's bday, they'd get breakfast in bed. i know 8 months is not enough for them to understand (probably wont really get it til they're 6 or so) but it's something nice that makes you feel special. -
I don't have CoD 4, but if anyone likes playing Warhawk online, my tag is freefly78

After watching Hawaii yesterday, I don't think they'd do very well against LSU, Ohio State or any of the other top contenders.
-
Ohio State v LSU is what every talking head seems to be saying

i really recommend warhawk. online game only (no 1 player story) but its fun as hell.

hopefully today's events put us in the rose bowl! represent the b10 and win the title!

Well, my Rock Band guitar is one of the messed up ones. If you strum down it sometimes doesn't register the strum, so you have to upstrum everything. the game still kicks ass, but it sucks i have to return the guitar. we got complaints from our landlords that live upstairs because Vogon Poetry was rocking until 5:30 AM last night.

I thought something was wrong with the drum set but then i think it was that we had to calibrate the tv (an LCD) to work properly. more play-testing will decide it. i just rented cod4 - damn it's good.

Just picked up rockband for the 360 (no one i checked had any ps3 versions). game is so freakin cool! Long live Vogon Poetry (that's the band name)

Clintonradloff was funny as hell.

Rock Band, CoD 4, and Assassin's Creed are all on both PS3 and 360. Mass Effect is one I really want that is an xbox exclusive. I also have BioShock that I haven't started yet (working on Orange Box at the moment), which I have heard nothing but good things about, which is another xbox exclusive. The ps3 exclusives are starting to shape up nicely as well. I played the demo for Uncharted, and it is great. I have Warhawk, which i play all the time.

I think you meant PS3 I have heard that Blu-ray has a slight edge...partially because of the PS3's ability to play them straight out of the box. I have a PS3 but only 1 blu-ray movie -- they're too expensive and the selection is kind of lacking at the moment (same for hd-dvd, there aren't enough movies to warrant buying even the 360 add-on). Also, while I love hi-def, I am not about to spend 30 bucks a disk to re-buy movies I already have on standard DVD. I heard in Europe, Blu-ray is killing HD-DVD.

I have all 3, and it really depends what you want to play.... the wii is a great idea, but aside from mini-game games there isn't much there just yet. still, it's awesome whne you play with other people. between the xbox 360 and ps3, it's a tough call. the xbox has a lot more good games out right now (especially a lot of games you can get discounted as they're platinum or greatest hits or whatever). i think the potential of the ps3 is really high, and we're starting to see that. i have warhawk, which i play a ton. also, a lot of games that are on the 360 are also coming to the ps3. that said, taking into account cost, as well as everything else, this second the 360 is a better bet. tho one thing i really like about the ps3 is online play is free, and the 360 has live which you have to pay for.

As an Illinois fan I want OSU in the title game because a) it may help us get into the rose bowl and 2) because i want us to be the only team that was able to beat the champ!
-
No, no, you just picked the wrong week to do it! Go Illini!

Response to nuclear detonation on US soil
FreeflyChile replied to nerdgirl's topic in Speakers Corner
I think so...almost certainly. First people would want revenge. Then on the news, people would hear about the talking heads reporting that the US policy regarding a nuke attack is to go nuclear as well (at least, i'm under the impression that is the policy, please correct me if i am mistaken), which would only further stir the hornets nest. I think it largely depends where this nuke is set off. If its set off in the middle of Iowa and a few farms are blown up, the uproar would not be nearly what it is if the nuke was set off in downtown Manhattan. I just remember hearing people on 9/11 calling for nukes (general populous, not politicians)...granted these were the minority but i can imagine that if the attack escalates, so will the public outcry for a harsh retaliation. -
Two things about Giambi and Bonds that are different: 1) the race thing.... 2) Giambi has always been better with the media than Bonds. I think that everyone in the media has been salivating at the chance to get at him because he's always been such an ass with them. That said, I agree with you and I think that he knowingly took steroids.

Thank you!

Bear's Mission Everest. You have to watch this one>
FreeflyChile replied to akarunway's topic in The Bonfire
I agree. It was too bad that those things came out about how they were doing his show. I think he's very entertaining to watch, and if they could just get the show to be truly "real", it'd be great. -
see then what you do is hold on to it for a good 40-50 years, til it becomes an antique worth something.
