just curious - WHY does the pilot get the major penalty in this situation? example: our KingAir gets around to several boogies and the pilot likely doesnt know the jumpers...shouldnt that burden fall on the DZO or S&TA, or perhaps the manifest person or the senior rigger for that particular DZ? of course i DO understand this is the government we are talking about As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD...

If you have your nipple(s) pierced, did it hurt to get it?
crotalus01 replied to peacefuljeffrey's topic in The Bonfire
the piercing itself wasnt too bad, but good God, the aftermath! i could barely stand to wear a shirt it hurt so damn bad. also, it took over 6 months to heal up - keep in mind the place i got mine at actually pierced me under the nipple not through it. apparantly this stops migration where the body rejects the piercing. all of my piercings are now gone, but i would have to say that the noipple piercing was even worse than my P.A. Men do you stare if a woman's high beams are on?

been to Hong Kong Special Administrative Region several times (thats the official name). been to the mainland once. China is a pretty cool country, not super friendly people in the areas i was in, may be different when you really get to the interior. have you thought about any other countries in the area? i HIGHLY recommend Cambodia - the Angkor Wat temples are some of the most stunning things i have ever seen, and some of the friendliest people i have ever encountered - i have been all over Cambodia on motorcycle and never had any problems (other than a nasty collision with another motorbike in Phnom Penh). if you end up going with China try and get to the areas around the border with Afghanistan - life is VERY different there. i have one tattoo that i would get removed if i had the time and money, but that is only one out of 10. i did remove all of my piercings (7 in all) because of the trend factor. As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD...

my second tandem jump was a container lock. if i knew then what i know now i never would have done more than the one required to start AFF.... As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD...

well, 2 of them were self induced (bad swoops) and one was of the "everything right and still die" variety. keep in mind one was basically injury free (seperated ribs and bruised organs), one was broken pelvis/collarbone and punctured lung, and one was a femur. having said that, i can say safety is a big priority at my DZ, and hopefully i am a safer skydiver from seeing the results of a bad swoop and aggressive downsizing. seen 3 people hit HARD, hard enough that all 3 times i immediately thought they were dead. one was a femur from a bad swoop, one was a bad swoop with minor injuries, and one was a double malfunction resulting in a broken pelvis, collarbone, and punctured lung. it is absolutely amazing how hard the human body can hit the ground and still remain functional (i.e. alive). and no, you dont forget..... always been into herpetology (study of reptiles for those who dont know), and venomous snakes in particular - crotalus is the genus that most rattlesnakes belong to, and a rattlesnake was the first (and only) serious bite i ever received (Crotalus horridus horridus, the Canebrake, or Timber Rattlesnake depending on your location). collapsable pilot chute uncocking itself?
crotalus01 replied to crotalus01's topic in Gear and Rigging
thanks for the suggestions. and just to clarify, i was told to slip knot the bridle about a foot from the PC, so i would be sure to see it when finishing the pack job. totally agree putting a knot near the d-bag is asking for trouble. and the reason i asked about the situation here is because i dont want to knot the bridle to begin with. thanks again for the help. collapsable pilot chute uncocking itself?
crotalus01 replied to crotalus01's topic in Gear and Rigging
i have a Sabre 190 with a collapsible pilot chute. the last 4 or 5 times i have packed it and gone a week or more between jumps, when i check the window it is "collapsed", i.e. no color in the window. 4 of the 5 times i extracted the PC on the ground it caught air okay, but once it was totally uncocked (would have been a PC in tow for sure). i know for a fact i cocked it on every repack. why does the PC uncock itself? as i said, it only seems to happen if i go a week or so between jumps....UpnDownShop told me to tie a knot in the bridle when i am packing (after cocking) and thats all good, but i want to know WHY and HOW it is uncocking. any ideas? thx. dude, you will love it! it rocks! and for those who say the pilot gives no warning, i always know when i about to go weightless because of the increase in Gs right before the weightlessness....keep in mind i have only gotten zero-G in Mullins King Air so YMMV. devils advocate here - it probably doesnt help diversify the jumping community when one of the most common sayings is Blue Skies BLACK DEATH As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD...

guess i am priviledged we get a nice zero-g assist at standing on every load on Mike Mullins King Air that i have been on makes the exit SO much easier when you can just float to your feet... As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD...

Am I experienced enough for this?
crotalus01 replied to i.c's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
i dont have enough jumps to be giving advice, but i DO have enough international travel experience to tell you that i wouldnt try it. you are going to be so jetlagged and generally just feeling shitty from all the air travel - and a jetlagged/tired/feels like shit skydiver is probably a danger to themselves and others 5 continents in 5 days....i feel like ass for 2 days just flying one way from the States to China.... hehehe....i work with mostly black people, and i have had several (men and women) ask me about going to do a tandem. mostly just talk (the whole "i would but i'm broke right now" speech), but they do show an interest. and one friend of mine called me up on a saturday morning about 2 months ago and said "I'm ready to jump, lets go!" he had a blast, but got sick when he landed - he wanted the TI to flip them out the door and it ended up making him sick when combined with the high performance turns under canopy and the bag of chocolate he ate on the way to the DZ my favorite post-skydive quote from him: "We were going too goddamn fast, TOO fast....it made me woozy!" he says he will do it again, but only tandem - he says deploying his own chute and flying the canopy would be too scary.... North and South America´s tallest bungee jump...you game?
crotalus01 replied to dixieskydiver's topic in The Bonfire
bungee jumped once in Florida and thought it was a waste of good money...why would i want to pay several jump tickets worth of cash to bounce around on a big rubber band when i could be getting several freefalls AND canopy rides??? As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD... -

did you see a FedEx plane landing as well? if so, i LOADED that bad boy full of freight in Memphis earlier today. ROC is my market. and yeah, i get it. Air Force One lands at the ANG base right next to our hub in Memphis, so i have seen it several times - always escorted by BlackHawks and F-18s....notice any choppers as it was taking off? would the proposed W/L BSR be an over the board kind of thing or would jumpers be grandfathered in? personally, i made damn sure that i had the approval of my S&TAs and my coach before i bought the canopy that i am currently on (that most here say i have no business jumping). but a grandfathered system would do nothing for jumpers that currently do HP landings they have been warned against.
