What percentage of your annual income do you spend on skydiving?

Did you spend the $60,000?...if so by all means include it. If your insurance spent it on your behalf..nope. -

davedlg replied to davedlg's topic in The Bonfire
I just figured out how much I spent in the last year on skydiving. Between AFF, a new rig, several boogies (including plane tix), and 100+ jumps, I spent about 25% of my annual income on skydiving last year! How much do you spend?? -
I was out at the site today and took a few more pics. They are getting ready to get it all put together! Norm said that they may be able to test the fans within 3-4 weeks

Here in Colorado, we are looking at A-Basin being open on Oct 21, and Loveland is shooting for Oct 16th

Denver is relatively safe compared to some other large cities. Westminister and Thornton are both Suburbia and are reasonable places to live. I would avoid Denver just north of downtown, the area around Federal Boulevard, Montbello, and central to north Aurora (though parts of south Aurora are VERY nice) Central Denver is kinda weird, as the nicer neighborhoods have some not so nice areas within blocks. Park hill, capitol hill, and washington park all have nice areas and not so nice areas. If you choose to live in the far south side of town, you usually can't go wrong, and you have the added benifit of having the new wind tunnel close by. NEVER live in Highlands Ranch, though...it's suburbia on steroids *shudder* edit to add: I live in Lakewood and love it. It's the best of all worlds. Close to the mountains, safe, and a short commute to everything except any DZ..

2nd Annual MOAB Boogie... The Aftermath
davedlg replied to TallGuy's topic in Events & Places to Jump
I had about the best skydiving weekend I have ever had!!! No complaints there!! My sky experience was 100% positive, and the experience on the ground was 90% positive. I haven't been able to concentrate on work all day because I am still psyched. Like I said, I will be back!! -
2nd Annual MOAB Boogie... The Aftermath
davedlg replied to TallGuy's topic in Events & Places to Jump
I gotta agree with you on most of the issues there. I had a great time and will be back next year. I think that a lot of people were driven away by the $10 camping fee. I have never had to pay for camping at a boogie and espically not where there were no facilities. I understand that this money went to the city, but adding an additional fee to camp onsite, espically given the primitive conditions wasn't fair. Camping was free last year, and almost everyone camped on the airport property. It was a good time. I did not understand the off site party on saturday night. I did not go, as I am sure many didn't. I didn't want to pull up stakes and move camp and I didnt want to risk a DUI...espically in Utah. There definatly needed to be more lift capacity. A King Air and a skyvan have a lift capacity of about 120 people per hour. This is not even close to the lift capacity needed for a boogie with 250 to 300 participants. I personally was satisfied with the number of jumps I got on saturday, but I did get there in time to manifest on load 1 and I really only had one long wait. I think that there was a lot of demand for a big sunset cross country at the end of the day that never really panned out. I got on the one sunset cross country load and I gotta tell you it was spectacular. I wish more people could have been up there. One of the best things about jumping in moab is the view, and everyone should have the oppurtunity to pull high and enjoy it. Oh yeah, one more thing...a windsock in the landing area would have been nice. It was difficult to tell how strong the winds were from the windblades alone...espically on sunday when they were all blowing down in the 20 mph winds. I know a lot of people were landing hard and landing off because the winds were very deceptive. I had a friend land inbetween a road, a barbed wire fence, and powerlines because he underestimated how strong the ground winds were. With all that said, I'll be back next year. -
Try westword.com for employment classifieds. Denver post is fairly expensive and many employers find their help wanted costs prohibitive.

yeah yeah, peak 10...everyone says that when I complain about breck being flat. There is some decent stuff there, but not enough to make up for the rest of the mountain. Breck is the one mountain on my 5 mountain pass I rarely visit. Maybe it's just me...

Woo hoo! M.O.A.B is upon us!!

If you go to any of the bigger resorts it will probably be good. IMHO If you are willing to spend the money, Vail is hands down the best resort in Colorado (at least of the one's I have visited). The back bowls on a powder day are amazing, and you can find just about anything you want on the mountain...it is massive. I have been skiing in colorado for 15 years and I still have not been everywhere at vail. There is a good nightlife there too. You will find lodging in vail pricey though. If you are looking for something extreme think A-Basin or crested butte. Breckenridge is fairly flat overall, but has a great terrain park. Copper mtn and Keystone are both steeper than breckenridge and fairly large. I learned to ski at winter park / mary jane. It is a great place to ski and Mary Jane has some of the best moguls in the state. Summit county is probably your best choice to stay at as the lodging is significanty cheaper then elsewhere. There are 4 resorts (keystone, breckenridge, copper mtn., a-basin) within 30 mins and you can find a little bit of everything. Breckenridge has a great nightlife as well. You can also drive to Vail or Winter park in about 45 mins to an hour from most places in summit county. You know, it really doesnt matter where you go, you'll have a good time!

Back in the day, Tevas ruled. These days, not so much. I had a pair of Tevas which I wore every day of the summer for three years while I was guiding rafts. They took a hell of a lot of abuse and still stood up. I finally had to replace them and I bought the same model that I had before and they broke in multiple places within two months. After that, I switched to chacos. I have been a chaco person ever since. They are the most bombproof sandals out there. Add to that the fact that you can send them in and have them resoled and restrapped (is that a word?) significantly cheaper than you can buy a new pair and there is no contest. My favorite thing to wear: chacos, baggy nylon shorts, and a t-shirt.

I know that there is quite a bit of noise dampening built into the diffuser. Norm had me walk up to one of the diffuser pieces (they are the big metal pieces in the foreground of this picture) and yell into it....It completely absorbed the noise - there was absolutely no echo whatsoever. How much noise it will make remains to be seen, but I have to imagine it will be much quieter than a non-recirculating tunnel.

Steve, I'm in for "Memphis Belle" It's one of my favorite movies and I dont have a copy. Ooh...what kind of spices come with the rack? Or is it just the rack. Hell I need a spice rack anyway. My spice cupboard is too messy. See ya at mile-hi this weekend.

There's no option for "I have been known to do it from time to time, but don't make a habit of it" No, I have never been caught edit to add: I don't think I really could get "caught" since the company buys beers and passes them out from time to time on friday afternoons.
