  1. Wind tunnel Why drink and drive, if you can smoke and fly?
  2. what the point of all this %$@ about lead for weight? if some one so paranoid of lead poisoning - he can use an hermetic package for it or fill the lead bags with some compaund... But what about all other omnsters with their belts full of unprotected lead?) Why drink and drive, if you can smoke and fly?
  3. We have them (flaps) too :) Why drink and drive, if you can smoke and fly?
  4. If you survive it:) Why drink and drive, if you can smoke and fly?
  5. H-mm... on my guess line tension = your weight/number of lines Why drink and drive, if you can smoke and fly?
  6. How it depends on the WL? Why drink and drive, if you can smoke and fly?
  7. H-mm may be my english isn't well enought My conclusion is just that locking stows takes the load (not came undone) first as soon as the PC-bridle unlock the container and pull the d-bag out IMO it's quite obvious: the mass of a canopy wants to rest (relative to container) while PC-bridle wants to accelerate d-bag with them up (relative to the container). The PC does apply the force to the canopy through the d-bag and d-bag hold the canopy inside via locking stows... Bag strip - is just extreme case caused by above mentioned factors plus some shit happens factors as well I saw some pic's, shows the huge enlongation of the locking stows at the d-bag leaving container here but can't find 'em =/ (have only pic's from local site but with "extreme case": http://major-sky.narod.ru/bad_open1.jpg http://major-sky.narod.ru/bad_open2.jpg) P.S, It funny, during searchin for the pics I found your post which state the exact the mine point:) (http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=1980519;search_string=locking%20stows%20load;#1980519) I saw some pics Why drink and drive, if you can smoke and fly?
  8. It's not true IMO The locking stows stress first during the bag came out from the container coz they are keep the mass of a canopy inside while the PC - bridle - d-bag force him to accelerate up... Yes they came undone last, after all non locking stows release the lines but they take significant load first in the beginning of deployment sequence. Why drink and drive, if you can smoke and fly?
  9. Baglock still can and do happens with rubber bands... so I used to use tube stows, but at now back to the rubber bands just for the reason it's cheap and I always keep a few spare of them (big and small) in my jump suit... Replace them when it just start wear a little. With tube there was some doubts and willind to keep em work a little bit more... and there was some problem as there was only three big tubes in the selling pack, so... If i had a big bag with tube stows I'd prefer to use them, but as soon as haven't the rubber bands makes "rigging" more simple for me)) Why drink and drive, if you can smoke and fly?
  10. For most "need to running out" I'we seen - pelople just stop flying their canopies too early... Until your canopy is layed on a grass it can give you some holding/stopping power even after your feet on a ground - so fly it! Why drink and drive, if you can smoke and fly?
  11. The best pull up cord I've ever used - was (and still after few hundred jumps is) was simple flashdrive lace (for wearind the flashdrive on your neck) cutted from his drive)) It's thin (not need to match the poited ends together as for stantard pullupcord, easily going through the grommets) long made from soft but strong material (does not hurt your palm, easily pulled away from the closing loop and hurt it less) takes less place wherever you'd shove it etc... Cat in da WT?

I saw a video of my friend-instrutor learning cat to fly in WT)) Is here anyone else who give their pet some tunnel time? video? Why drink and drive, if you can smoke and fly?
  16. Bad for your karma:) In Russia, poor skydivers tend to use a mechanical ADD (for ~50$) Silly logic IMHO Shure it is... and more strong than say in US;) Why drink and drive, if you can smoke and fly?
  17. that is a great point Not really that statement had a question mark at the end of it, I was aking your opinion. The quesion in perhaps a better format is; If under the same wingloading, on a different canopy, you have more pressure on all risers(all 4 ar the same time) flying straight, With the same exit weight... would that not mean there is more lift being created? Quote When flying straight you'd have the same summary "pressure" (force) on your risers no mater what canopy and wingloading you flying... = the force of your weight And having the same "pressure" you can have a huge difference in amount of lift created by canopy from near zero for round canopy (the only force holding your vertical speed is drag) to various value for various ram-air canopies (trim, WL etc...) 18. Not a worse variant;) I've seen really ugly velos:) I gues it was an gift from one's enemies, who chipped in for a canopy with such ugly colors for their victim) Why drink and drive, if you can smoke and fly?
  19. Every time, I see a top canopy (flying by a good pilot) in such odd color - I remember the scene frome some action movie, where the Hero has defeat the bad guy told to the girl: "you know, how recognize the bad guy? only the scoundrel can do THIS with a good car!" and show her the bad guy's GREEN ferrari Why drink and drive, if you can smoke and fly?
  20. Nope, I waiting for at least 300 meters range:) Why drink and drive, if you can smoke and fly?
  21. When these guys: http://www.loc8tor.co.uk/product_information.asp increase the range of their devices, I most likely buy few:) Why drink and drive, if you can smoke and fly?
  22. If you are talking about this video: http://www.risk.ru/users/gaugin/5728/ than yes*3 it's BS, it's old and it's cool) Why drink and drive, if you can smoke and fly?
  23. May be this way "don't look", but it's work:) Why drink and drive, if you can smoke and fly?
  24. [replyThe best case is a poised exit from an aircraft traveling at slider-down BASE deployment speeds (i.e. 20-40kts) since you have the airspeed needed for deployment, you can use an unreefed square and you have more time to deal with problems due to the lower vertical speed. IMHO the safer way is static line exit with military round at ~100MPH At least here it's "sertified" way to do low alti jumps (300 feet), and have been done many times - popular for demos and to celebrate 100th jump (from 100 meters) :) Why drink and drive, if you can smoke and fly?
