And I can say the same about you. Judging by everything that you have said about cycling, I see how little you actually know about the sport. I respect how incredibly difficult golf is and I agree that Tiger is absolutely spectacular at what he does but you clearly have no understanding of competitive cycling. BTW Lance is known as the 1 millimeter man because if any part of his bike is off by as little as 1 mm including things like pedal angle or anyhing else, he feels it immediately and will have a much harder time riding. To use something that you said earlier about golf, if cycling was as easy as you say, or was just about endurance, there would be a lot more people doing it. If it was as easy as you say, there would be no possible way for someone to have won the Tour de France 7 consecutive times. Time flies like an arrow....fruit flies like a banana

Quite a bit of the tour de France route changes from year to year, so that is not totally accurate, although I see your point. Weather conditions like wind and rain play a major role in the tour de France as well. Also, in the tour you are competing against other riders that are constantly trying different strategic attacks. You are not just riding a bike. Your strategy is constantly changing based on what your opponents are doing and where they are in the race. For the most part in Golf you are competing against yourself and your strategy rarely changes. I realize that you may need to hit more aggressive shots if you are behind and such, but it is not really the same thing. Those that brought up the fact that the tour is a team event are correct. Remember though that it is Lance (with the help of the manager) that is determining the team strategy as well as motivating the team to ride FOR him. To me that shows that he is not just a great rider but also a great leader. That is not how the tour works. You either win stages or the GC (General Classification) you don't do both. I think both are great athletes in their own right, but there is no doubt in my mind that Lance is far superior and one of the greatest athletes of all times. Funny I lived on 78th and Madison for years and never even heard of Bagels and Co. Pick a bagel has great chopped liver too. Time flies like an arrow....fruit flies like a banana

I am sooo with you. What the hell is a bEgel. I hear that all the time in FL. I also agree on the Jims thing. Best cheesesteak around. Although everytime I go there it takes days to get the smell of grease off of my skin. Time flies like an arrow....fruit flies like a banana

Sorry, they tried that one on me when I used to go up to montreal. Those things are not even bagels. NY is the ONLY place to get a bagel. "Ess-a-bagel" and "pick a bagel" rock. I have to bring them down to FL all the time. Time flies like an arrow....fruit flies like a banana

Obviously, without seeing you land it is hard to say for sure. There are lots of things that can cause this. What I have found to be the most common cause of flaring too high is very simple. Newer jumpers have a tendency to look down instead of out in front of them. It is very hard to judge your flare when you are looking at where you have just been instead of where you are going. Try to really think about looking out in front of you and see if that helps. -OK Time flies like an arrow....fruit flies like a banana

I recieved this in an email yesterday and I thought I should post it here: We will be having Ron's memorial and ash jump (weather permitting) on July 23rd at Skydive City in Zephyrhills. SkydiveCity 4241 Skydive Lane Zephyrhills, Fl 33542 Martin S. will be organizing the ash jump and can be reached at martin@tunnelcoach.com. We will attempt to make the jump in the early afternoon, before the Florida rains drive us into the bar. Any family or friends who do not skydive but would like to ride in the plane please let Martin know. Also, I know EVERYONE loved Ron but there are only 22 seats on the aircraft so if we can't accommodate everyone with a seat we will video the jump in the air and everyone will get to see it that evening. We are also planning to have the memorial on Saturday evening in the bar on the DZ so please bring your videos, pictures, stories and other Ron related things that you would like to share with his friends and family. Please, I do not have everyone's e-mail address and phone # so please let anyone who I have missed know that this is happening. Also, many of you have been calling to ask about donations, we will be collecting for Ron's memorial tree and plaque during the memorial. For those of you who are unable to come but would still like to be a part of this you can send donations to me, Michelle Klueg, at the above address. You can also call me at (XXX) XXX-XXXX with any questions, or just to talk:) Thank you all for your calls and e-mails. Ron was a huge part of alot of our lives and good friend to so many of us, so lets all get together and celebrate in the style that would make Ron proud. Canopy Piloting School reflections
okalb replied to HydroGuy's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I am glad that the course worked out well for you and I think all jumpers of any skill level should consider canopy piloting classes. I just wanted to point out one thing in your post since you are gearing it towards newer jumpers. In your post you said: Please understand that he was doing this up high. You should NEVER give any sort of front riser input close to the ground without holding on to the toggles in your hands. This may seem obvious to some but others may not understand. I think your post is great and I am not putting you down in any way, but please be careful about what advice you give. There is always a possibility that a newer jumper does not understand what you really mean. Time flies like an arrow....fruit flies like a banana -
I just wanted to add something else for you to think about. The tunnel absolutely rocks and I have no doubt that it will fix your problems. But there could be something else at work here as well. Some people react differently to different teaching styles. In no way am I putting down your instructor, but have you tried to go up with someone else? Over the years I have seen plenty of students that were having trouble on a level go up with someone else and pass on the first try. Even if you are perfectly happy with the instructor that you are jumping with, a "change of scenery" might be just what you need. Sometimes it is just performance anxiety that comes from trying to prove to THAT instructor that you can do it. Before you spend a ton of money flying out to somewhere to fly in the tunnel (although never a waste of money) you might want to consider a change at home. Just a thought. -OK Time flies like an arrow....fruit flies like a banana

I saw your point and then showed why is made absolutely no sense whatsoever. I could very well be wrong about the exact number here but I am pretty sure you understood the meaning of the statement. I am not even going to dignify this statement with a response Once again not worth responding to I don't refuse to see them. Nobody has made one that doesn't argue thier religious or moral beliefs I am perfectly calm and relaxed. Nowhere in any of my posts have I made a personal attack. I said that the argument about poodles is moronic which it is. You on the other hand did not debate a single one of my statements by any means other than saying that I was wrong. As for your argument that you don't want to pay for the benefits, I feel your pain. I don't want to eat the costs of the tax exempt status that religious organizations get either. I also don't ever have any intention of having children but I pay for the education of other peoples children through my taxes. That is the cost of living in the USA. ??? I think there's plenty of legal basis. The question is if there is a moral or ethical basis for the laws. Thank you, you are absolutely right. I sit corrected

Putting a smiley after it and making a joke out of it does not make this comment any less offensive. This is by far the most moronic of all of the homophobic and bigoted arguments I have heard against same sex marriage. As much as the Christian Coalition and ilk try to make it so, marriage in the US has NOTHING to do with religion. Some people MAY choose to hold a religious ceremony of some sort or another, but that means nothing to those that don't follow that religion. Marriage is a legal arrangement entered into between 2 people. Since I have never yet met a poodle that is able to sign a legal document or meet the standard that make it possible to enter into a legally binding agreement, the argument is just plain stupid. At one point 90% of the people in this country also believed that there was nothing wrong with keeping slaves, women shouldn't vote and you certainly shouldn't enjoy any super-evil alcohol. Most of these people came to their collective senses eventually and realized that they were wrong. It's called growth. Even if the bible said otherwise. You are completely off -base on that one, on so many different levels. Yet another sweeping generalization that the evil liberals and fags must be behind the decimation of "your" cultural comfort level. Hm, what's next? Immigrants? There is no LEGAL basis for argument against gay marriage. Unless you're telling me that the religious fanatics of this country, God and the Supreme Court had a conference call about it and decided that you were right. Trying to say that certain people can do certain things while others cannot is pure discrimination and can't be tolerated. Anyone who calls themselves a patriot and can't see that, truly does not understand the meaning of being a citizen and patriot of the USA. Time flies like an arrow....fruit flies like a banana

I have dealt with closed minded people like this my whole life. You are wasting your breath. People who take excerpts from the bible and define morality based on them yet ignore anything in the bible that does not support their hatred, fear and prejudices are not worth arguing with. The bottom line is that legal rights of people has absolutely nothing to do with religion. Religious fanatics that try to make it so are actually the people that I believe are destroying the ideals that this country was built on. The constitution of this country was written to protect the people from all types of persecution. People who try to alter the constitution to deny ANY American the rights that are awarded to ANY other truly do not understand what this country is all about. While I have nothing against people believing anything they want to believe, I do have a problem when they try to force their religious beliefs on the rest of us. By not allowing gays the same rights as anyone else in this country they are doing just that. One thing that I learned growing up the way I did was that race, creed, color or sexual preference mean nothing in the grand scheme of things. Peoples actions and behavior towards others is what matters. There are good and bad people in the world and who they sleep or what they pray to with has nothing to do with it. If more people grew up the way I did, the world would probably be a better more tolerant place. Time flies like an arrow....fruit flies like a banana

That is the issue I have here. I don't care if a non-profit, private organization wants to be selective on who it allows to eat it's bread and drink it's wine. But our gov't is flat out denying civil unions - based on what reasons? From where I stand it seems to be due to their faith and what their church is telling them. That is not right. You beat me to it, so all I can say is....yeah what he said! Time flies like an arrow....fruit flies like a banana

The bible also says the the following people should be stoned publicly: Any woman or man caught commiting adultery Anyone preaching or practicing a different religion Anyone commiting blasphemy Any man who does not obey the sabbath Stubborn or rebelious children I can go on and on. Are you saying that anyone who does not stone to death the people listed above are not true christians or jews? Sorry, but you know me personally and you know that this is a sore subject with me. Those of you that know me know that I am a straight male who grew up in a household with 2 mothers. My mother has been with the same woman for over 25 years. They own houses, cars and businesses together. Between the two of them they have raised 5 well adjusted and reasonably successful children. The fact that they don't have the same legal rights as any other couple is disgraceful. Time flies like an arrow....fruit flies like a banana

Thanks, I understand what the problem is. I know there are apps out there that send to a mailing list for you but they fool the mail servers and spam blockers by doing things like sending the message to each recipient individually once you attach a mailing list to an email. I was just wondering if anyone had any experience with any of them. Time flies like an arrow....fruit flies like a banana

Hey all, I am looking for an application that does mass emailings. I have a customer that regularly sends out emails to a few hundred people. They have been running into problems with mail servers and spam blockers blocking the mailings. These mailings are legitimate for their customers only. I have found plenty of apps that send out mass mailings but I was wondering if anyone has any experience with this. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks -OK Time flies like an arrow....fruit flies like a banana

Why do some people have more mal's than others
okalb replied to Zep's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I also think there is another factor that nobody has mentioned. Some people are more likely to spend time trying to fix a problem than others. Some people I have spoken to will fight with line twists for a long time trying to kick out while others would rather not waste the time and altitude trying. I have lost friends over the years that died because they spent longer than they should have trying to fix something. That being said I have probably cut away a main that I may have been able to salvage once or twice. I personally would rather cut away if I have the slightest doubt. I would rather cut away something that I may have been able to save, than realize at 500 feet that I couldn't fix the problem. -OK Time flies like an arrow....fruit flies like a banana -

I have a 150 Gal tank that used to be a salt water community tank. Right now it is an African Cichlid tank. I just bought a new wet dry and I am about to get rid of the cichlids and convert it back to salt water. I plan to put in a trigger a puffer and a unch of assorted tangs. Maybe a gobie or two as well. -OK Time flies like an arrow....fruit flies like a banana
