So Reagan was great simply because Obama is worse? Time flies like an arrow....fruit flies like a banana

What exactly was it that Reagan did to "bring it back"? Time flies like an arrow....fruit flies like a banana

Mark, stop pretending to know something about how ISPs work!

My understanding is that is only applicable if the new policy is also through an employer not an individual policy. He would not be moving to a new job until he recovers from his injuries, so I don't think that is applicable here. Time flies like an arrow....fruit flies like a banana

I have a friend that is currently in a messy situation. Luckily, it happened after the January 2014 implementation of “Obamacare” so he won’t have a problem, but I am wondering what his options would have been prior to 2014 Here is the situation. He has a pretty substantial back injury. He underwent surgery for it and it was unsuccessful. He is scheduled for corrective procedures in a few months. He is currently covered by health insurance through his employer. There is a pretty good chance that his employer will have to “let him go” because he is unable to work for at least another few months. Once he is let go he will lose his insurance. The company that he works for has fewer than 20 employees, so my understanding is that he would not be eligible for COBRA. As far as I know, his only option would have been to get coverage through an individual plan, but that would most certainly have excluded the pre-existing condition that put him out of work in the first place. Does anyone know what other options he would have had or would he have just been screwed? I have supported the ACA all along, but please don’t take this as a fictitious argument in favor of it. This is a situation that a friend has just found himself in and he was worried about losing his insurance if he loses his job. I told him that it was not going to be an issue since Obamacare went into effect, but it got me thinking about what would have happened to him if this all occurred a year ago. Given that the entire thread is about closing for Easter Sunday, I assumed it had to do with closing for religious holidays. Did Easter stop becoming a religious holiday at some point and nobody told me? Time flies like an arrow....fruit flies like a banana

As has been pointed out numerous times in this thread, what you consider being taken advantage of, some hourly workers might consider earning a living. You are advocating forcing employees to take off for a holiday that they may or may not believe in. Some of those employees were probably counting on those hours to do things like pay their rent. I am pretty sure Publix didn't give all employees a paid day off. So closing only hurts the hourly employees that need that money. I understand that many Christians, feel that everyone should be forced to obey their holidays, but some people would rather get paid than play with egg laying bunnies. Fixed it for you. How do you feel about it now? I think, I may have come to a solution to the illegal immigrant and USA's problem. Since they snuck into this country illegally many years ago and many of their family snuck in illegally long before that, why couldn't the USA reach-out an olive branch and 'grandfather' the illegal immigrants in. In the grand scheme of things, it isn't that many people and it would show the USA really does have a heart. That would be a 'peaceful' conclusion to the mess and the USA would come-out looking like good guys. I know, there's some of you out there who only see the money side of things or the fact that is one little piece of earth but this type of thing has been done before. Maybe not with the USA but what would it hurt. Sometimes you have to give-up a little pride for a 'peaceful' end to a problem. The illegal immigrants could have the USA folks out for a taco (just a little joke) say, once a year. Just a thought. Time flies like an arrow....fruit flies like a banana

So what if you don't believe in a 'creator'? How exactly did the big bang give rights? Since you are not from here, allow me to explain. You only get rights if you believe in a creator. Oh, and you better make sure it is the right creator. If you choose the wrong one, you get nothing. Time flies like an arrow....fruit flies like a banana

Funny, I read this and was about to say that there is a great theater near us that serves decent food, and pitchers of beer. There are usually no kids in the eating/drinking area. Then it occurred to me that it was the same theater that the above shooting took place in Time flies like an arrow....fruit flies like a banana

I just helped another friend get a new policy yesterday. She was paying $550/month with a $3000 deductible and a max out of pocket of $5K. Her new policy is $470/month with a $0 deductible and $2000 max out of pocket. She had 2 surgeries last year (shoulder/knee) and would not have been able to switch policies without the ACA because they would have been considered pre-existing conditions in the past. She could have paid $370 if she wanted to keep the deductible the same as she had, but decided to pay the $470 since it was less than she has been paying for the past few years and had a zero deductible. You are in florida. You know about the high risk pool. Why didn't he choose that option? High risk pool requires you to get turned down by 2 providers. Where did I ever say I got turned down, just forced to accept that they would not cover certain things if I chose to change policies so I was stuck with what I had and charged a lot more. Again, I was not trying to save money here, I was trying to get good coverage and that was pretty much not an option. But go ahead and keep talking, each time you post, it proves that you have no clue what you are talking about. Time flies like an arrow....fruit flies like a banana -

I have tried for years but if I changed I would have had all of the pre-existing conditions held against me. A few years ago I had back surgery. If I would have changed insurance companies the new one would have made me sign a waiver that they would not cover any back problems. So no, I could not change my coverage. I will give you another example of how incredibly stupid and unfair the insurance companies were with regard to pre-existing. About 10 years ago I had my gall bladder removed. When I went to change insurance companies a few years later they refused to cover my gall bladder because it was pre-existing. I kept going round and round in circles trying to explain that I DIDN'T HAVE A GALL BLADDER as it had been removed. They insisted that the only way they would insure me is with a waiver for my gall bladder. Time flies like an arrow....fruit flies like a banana -

Frankly I don't care what you buy, I have yet to see you ever make a post with any substance. I am not really sure why I am even wasting my time on you but for the sake of others on here, I have several pre-existing conditions that have kept me from getting a decent policy for years. I have had to go with a personal policy not a small business one because my partner lives in another state and has leukemia. It was impossible for us to get a small business policy at any cost. We spent over a year trying and got nowhere. My personal policy was just under $550/month and I had a $2500 deductible with a $4000 max out of pocket. I had no prescription coverage at all. I have attached the specs on my new policy. It doesn't take affect until 1/1/14 so I don't have the actual dec pages yet. The bs with the preexisting was the problem. I will give you a simple example of what they tried to do to me in the past. I have psoriasis, have had it my whole life. Every once in a while, I get a patch on my knee or elbow, I get some cream apply it for a few days and it is gone for another year or so. My last insurance company wanted to give me a waiver for it because it was pre-existing. I was expecting that so I was ready for it. But, the waiver didn't say psoriasis it said "psoriasis or any skin condition" I called and asked if that meant that I would not be covered if I was diagnosed with skin cancer and they confirmed that it was the case. Living in Florida, skin cancer is a valid concern and has nothing to do with psoriasis but that was what they wanted me to agree to. I fought them for a while and they finally caved and changed it to psoriasis only. That is one of several things that I went through just trying to get coverage and I have money and can afford to pay. As you can see from the attachment my new policy has a zero deductible, zero coinsurance and $2000 max out of pocket. The total price is $358/month. But you keep calling me a liar. It just proves once again that you don't know what you are talking about. Time flies like an arrow....fruit flies like a banana -

Here is my story: I got a letter a week or so ago saying that my policy was being terminated as of Dec 31 because it is not compliant with the ACA. I went to find a new policy here is my result. My new policy is $200 less per month than what I have been paying. My deductible is substantially lower, my max out of pocket is substantially lower, my co-insurance is lower and my lifetime max is gone. I couldn't be happier with the change. So yes, I am one of those who had his policy cancelled. It was cancelled because it was a crappy policy that was a complete rip off that's why it wasn't ACA compliant. The only reason I had that policy is because it was all I could get in the past. The reason that I am able to get a much better policy for substantially less money is because of the ACA not allowing them to penalize me for my pre-existing conditions. This is a real life example of MY story, not something I heard from someone who knows someone who went to high school with a guy who lost his policy.
