  1. Hey, wait. October 1st is a Monday! Do you mean September 1st? Or October 6th? Or is there some leap thing I don't know about? Carl
  2. You should try a pull-out before you decide. It's a little different if you aren't used to it. Make sure you practice pull on the ground a few times (like real pulls, not PRCPs). It is a harder pull than the throw-out. You may also want to practice dealing with the pud out. Have someone hold it up or at some odd angle, or move it around, while you lay on a creaper. Also, don't hold onto the p/c. You shouldn't with any system, come to think of it. I love pull-outs, but some people don't. They are becoming more fashionable with freeflyers for some reason (less bridle showing? trend? because they are different?). I think it has safety advantages, but others will argue that. Either system will work well and both are well-proven. It is kind of cool being different, but it can also be a pain if you don't have experienced packers and riggers who understand the system. Enjoy! Carl
  3. Hey, the IRC server is refusing the connection! My browser crashes w/Java applets, so I have to connect w/X-Chat. Wasssup?
  4. As long as you're there, girl, we'll be happy!
  5. [Best "Valley Girl" voice] OK, eew? [/Best "Valley Girl" voice]
  6. That's it, I'm going home.
  7. Note to self: stop sending hallucinogenics to Raeford.
  8. Mmm, now I'm really getting hot! I'll bet my wife is at home right now, in her torn PJs and sweats, dirty old sneakers and God knows what. And here I am, stuck at work. Rats!
  9. Hey, maybe airann could use it for her dog!
  10. This is how I have heard this in its "full" version: "Opinions are like assholes. Everybody has one, they all think their own are wonderful, and everybody else's stink". Enjoy.
  11. Mmmmm. Head back, mouth open, little girl snoring sounds. Limbs strewn everywhere, hair totally wrecked, bad breath, tangled in the sheets. When it's love, she's a vision any time.
  12. Dave's right. He used this as a visual aid when I asked him about holding toggles and front riser loops. You guys kill me. You don't really think anyone could fly something that small, do you?? At least not yet... hehe Carl
  13. OK, I've e-packed some minor e-line twists for you. Sorry, I wouldn't feel e-right doing much worse than that.
  14. Its all (mostly) here. You also have to have permission from the landowner of the property you intend to land on. That may be covered in the FAR, or part of the filing.
  15. Hehe. Life is good, eh? Just have to figure out how to expense jump tickets. And gear.

Good to have you back, Donna! I had a great time out there with you guys. What a great privilege to be there for your "pre-second comeback jump". One of the great things about our little dz.com community here is that any of us could just show up at any of a dozen different drop zones around the world, and have friends there! How cool! Looking forward to jumping with you guys again soon! And Mike, stop lurking and post! Carl

    Kapowsin, etc...

Just keep him away from the gopher holes!
  18. Dude, are we going to cross paths? I'll be on the left side of the country 23 July - 1 August. If not, let's meet somewhere while you're out here! Pepperell is OK, and has the Otter. I was just out at Jumptown, which was quite cool. Much smaller, but they have a King Air and some great people. It is also quite a bit closer to Springfield (75 minutes vs 2 1/4 hours). Chuck mentioned the Ranch, which is also cool (Shawanga! Fly, baby fly!), but also a bit of a haul (2 1/2 hours). Let me know when you plan to be out here. Carl
  19. Yes, I should be there every weekend. That's another story, tho. Props to Chaz! As far as what the "official" record is, there are no rules here, so what the hell? If you want to claim it, go for it, man! I would say, however, that standard rules should apply, ie the formations must complete as planned, in sequence, and held for 5 seconds each (10-way or greater) in order to count as a "point". So, for a ten-way group to claim the "largest dz.com formation" at 10, they must build what they dirt dive (no plan Bs), and hold it for at least 5 seconds. I would also say that in order to be recognized as a dz.com record, the formations can only be made up of registered dz.com users who register at least a week before the date of the claimed record. Carl --- Jun, if that's what you want, it's a phone call away.
  20. Well, this is random. Look at the picture I came across last night (here). I have no idea who this is, but the guy whose site it is jumps at Boston-Providence, in RI, and Jumptown, in Mass. Wonder what he does for goggles? Carl
  21. Hey, this sh#t is hard, isn't it! lol! Wait until you have whole DAYS like this, jump after jump going terribly wrong, because you screwed it up, and everyone else on the jumps knows it too, and it's the same dive you've been doing all day, and you keep finding new and interesting ways to blow it. Then, just as the sun is going down, you screw your courage to the wall, and make the final attempt, and it goes like clockwork, and you're turning a million points with your best friends, and the air feels cool and clean, and EVERYTHING is right in the world, and you open with a nice soft opening, let out a yell that can be heard three counties away, come in for the perfect stand-up landing, and share more whoops, hugs and high-fives with your buds, and head off for beer and "there I was" stories. It doesn't get any better than that. Carl
  22. Nice! That's a world record also, unless you count half the four-way that we did at Jumptown over the weekend.
