  1. Apparently most cephalopods are. I had a very cool experience hanging out with some cuttlefish while snorkling in St. Lucia. They are really very curious, and clever.
  2. Pammi, just step back and look away. That man's not right.
  3. Well, you know that the USPA requires as part of every first jump course, especially in Montana, Texas, and The South in general, that we learn to avoid crossfire and stray bullets while under canopy. There are also procedures for when one of our many sidearms goes off in the plane, or in freefall. Hope this helps! Cheerio, mate! Carl
  4. Just teasing, PT. I've been waiting for months to use that line! Carl
  5. Yes, please don't interrupt our important discussions of nasal toothpaste and shower recreation with this unrelated material.
  6. Hey, Jack, maybe you could have a team of grips jump with klieg lights and those reflecty things! j/k
  7. Yes, and when I click on the external link (to go to their own page from the dz.com page). For example, from http://www.dropzone.com/gear/Detailed/138.html, clicking on Airtec GmbH gives me the error. Carl
  8. I've been getting this a lot, attempting to get to external pages (I deleted some private info from the debug dump, but you get the idea): A fatal error has occured: Unable to auto-create user: HASH(0x83d5b18). 9. I did the same thing recently. I was following in the early landers on a fairly low-wind day, when suddenly they all hooked in and landed the opposite way I was expecting! That left me to either do a downwinder against the prevailing landing pattern (probably not a big deal) or try to pull off the 180. I decided to go for it, with a nice flat toggle turn in half brakes. Worked great. Figured if I hadn't completed the turn in time, I would land cross-wind, rather than try to get more aggressive with the turn. This is all a matter of flying within your comfort zone. Take it easy, don't do anything stupid or rash, and be prepared to take an alternate action. Carl
  10. Seriously, its like all some women can think about is "sex, sex, sex". Don't they know that there is so much more to life than that? Like sex in the plane on the way to altitude, or sex in a field after a long spot, or...
  11. My guess is that this describes more than a few of us, uh, I mean, you: http://www.swcp.com/~diamond/sg-faq.html
  12. Eloy? Like the desert do ya? I am amazed at how similar most drop zones in the US really are. Carpeted hangers, semi-permanent trailers for training, video, etc., the word "SKYDIVE" in huge letters visible from space (or at least the access road), beer lines, bonfire pits, you get the idea. Even the smells are the same: jet A exhaust (yummmmmm), nylon and stale beer. In the air, you can usually tell where you are: East Coast: trees for miles, some hills Midwest: nothing for miles, no hills West: hills for miles, some mountains Canada: snow for miles, some breweries (OK, I made that one up :-) Of the dozen or so places I've jumped, I would have to say that my current "home" DZ (I live 3000 miles away), Skydive Elsinore, is the most beautiful. The view of the lake, mountains, and on a clear day, Catalina and the Pacific, although I have yet to be there on a day clear enough to see that far. I'm really looking forward to jumping in my back yard (Skydive Newport, RI). The views from altitude of the bay, the ocean and Block Island must be incredible! You must be able to see out to Nantucket and maybe even Long Island. Anyone know? Carl
  13. Thanks, man. You rock so hard! All our accolades are belong to you!
