I hate to sound like the old coot, but in a way, learning under a round has some advantages. As long as the spot is good, there is less of a chance of student flying away to parts unknown. Also, PLFs really mean something, so you really learn them. I would also mention that no one ever learns to spot anymore, now that everthing is done by GPS. And no, spotting doesn't mean knowing when to exit on the jump run, it means knowing how to direct the plane to jump run. Well, I suppose I can live without all these things, except the PLF. I've taken some pretty hard hits recently, and walked away with not even a bruise. Either I'm unusually lucky, or all those landings under ParaCommanders paid off.

So, it will be interesting to get the comparison between the Sabre II and the Cobalt. I started to get a handle on the openings. The weird one was the sub-terminal hop-n-pop that snapped open into line twists (my fault, bad body position). Makes sense given the way the two-stage opening is designed. Kind of ironic, tho. A high-speed opening will actually progress slower than a very low-speed one! Anyway dude, the canopy is in the mail. At least to Atair. I would guess you will see it soon. Ignore the blood stains (if they are still there), it wasn't jumping related. Enjoy!

Pammi, you go ahead and let it out, gurl. You can cry in front of us, we don't mind. But, really, bummer about the problem w/your gear. I get the feeling that all the manufacturers are going though this, especially the ones making the more popular stuff. On that note, although I haven't dealt with them myself personally, I have always heard good things about Jump Shack . They make the Racer, which isn't in vogue right now, so the service and quality should be right up there. Good luck!

Dunno. I ran into a little problem this morning, but after logging in a couple of times, retyping the password (rather than just using what Windows memorized), it seems OK. Sometimes, I have also had to logout (multiple times, just in case), and log back in again. In extreme cases, I have wiped out all the cookies, exited the browser altogether, robooted (this is Windows, after all), and logged back in. If this still doesn't work, try a new browser. That should work. Carl

Actually, the 727 is pretty easy to get stable out of, given you are near terminal at exit.

Um, isn't speed the reason you jump a smaller, faster rig? If it's such a relief to have some wind, why don't you just get a larger canopy? You can tell people it's smaller if you want.

Now, now, before we all get too carried away here... The official government crack-down is not on all RW. They only want to limit 2-way, 3-way and 4-way. I have seen no evidence that they have any problem with larger formations. Let's try to keep our heads about us on this one.
