Chuck, I knew there was something about you I liked. How about the Talking Heads, or Kraftwerk? Shit, I'm going to start having flashbacks. But, you should open your mind to some of the newer music. It's sometimes tough to find, but there is some cool stuff out there, even in the rap/hip-hop genre. I go through phases. At the peak, all music is great, and I love scanning through the channels and getting turned on by all sorts of great expression and creativity coming from different places. At the valleys, all music sucks, is way over commercialized and boring, and I scan around hoping to find some decent shread of something. It's usually at this point that I find some college station that is playing some totally out there shit, and its back up the curve.

I'm pretty sure there is something in there about buying jumps for a skydiver visiting from out of town, something like that.

MM, No worries. I'm sorry that my sarcasm hit a little too hard. When I said that it was nice knowing you and reading your posts, I meant it (well most of your posts anyway ). Whatever you decide about the canopy, or whatever, just remember that you have your whole life to downsize, learn to swoop, freefly and everything else. You are at a point where everything is new and cool, and that is so amazing. It's what makes your posts (and a lot of others here) so much fun to read. However, you also run the risk of wanting to do it all, and wanting it all now, and getting into water over your head. That's what people mean when they talk about the "100-jump wonder". There is a phase between getting off student status and a point sometime later where you feel like you are in control and can take big chances. Then there comes this point, usually when you see someone go in (maybe a friend), or someone you know gets hurt very badly, or you almost go in yourself, when you realize that a more conservative approach is a good idea. I'm not sure I've reached that point myself yet, although I have had a couple of moments that have made me think twice about a lot of things. Anyway, good luck, rock on. Carl

It would suck to lose your toggles at this point! To keep hold of them and grab the dive loops, keep the toggles in your hands, and use your 3rd and 4th (pinky and ring) fingers to hold the toggles against your palms. Grab the loops with your first and second (index and middle) fingers. Works great, lasts a long time. Using your whole hand in the dive loops can cause problems, especially as you let go to transition to the flare. I believe there was at least one fatality (some guy that used to jump w/his dog) that was caused by a lost toggle during a swoop.

Sure, but it's a real pain in the ass. Within a week, you are off by almost a day from everyone else. Plus, the usual references (3pm is the afternoon) are completely shot. People are confused all the time and think you are crazy. And in the end, it's really just borrowing from the end of your life. you end up dying at an earlier age. Sorry.
