  1. My DZ is overrun with Safire2s loaded from about 1.0 to 1.4, and they all seem to open nicely. Maybe your friend's was out of trim?
  2. It's a way of certifying that a skydiver has reached a certain level of competence. It's far from perfect, but it's better than nothing.
  3. Yep . Quite possibly. I've only done a couple of head-up jumps with my Z1 and it hasn't opened, but that's not exactly a statistically significant sample.
  4. They probably balance their books at the end of every jumping day. Makes it much easier to find and fix any mistakes.
  5. What's a fullface freefly helmet? And what makes it different from a regular fullface helmet? You can get a Gath with a visor, or you could just wear a 'normal' fullface such as a Z1, Mamba, Oxygn, FreeZR, Factory Diver, etc. ***EMAIL ME RIPTIDEZP@HOTMAIL.COM No.
  6. You can say that again. NOK 3700 is about USD 600. Ouch.

Ah, Outlook Web Access. Now the original post makes sense....
  8. I know packers with less than 50 jumps, and I know packers with several thousand. It's about your packing ability, not how many jumps you've done. Work on technique, consistency, and pack a variety of different rigs. Speed will come, and may or may not be necessary depending on just how busy the DZ you're working on is... a friend of mine packed 83 in a day at Eloy a few weeks ago, and another friend packed 8 at a different DZ. Where are you going? Not all countries use as many packers as the USA.
  9. Ok . It's a recovery arc, not arch. Arches are used in building bridges. Arcs are curved lines, as in, for example, the arc described by a parachute returning to normal flight from accelerated flight.
  10. Congratulations! (you should probably update your profile )
  11. Ever thought about taking one across a swoop pond? It opens up a whole new set of freestyle tricks.
  12. My DZ has printed numbered tickets. You can buy tickets in blocks of 1/10/100, with larger blocks being cheaper. You get issued physical tickets in batches of ten, each of which have a serial number. Your name is also written on the back of the ticket and the ticket can only be used by you (or to pay for a coach/camera/etc). Seems to work well, and the cash-on-account is primarily a staff thing.
  13. Still works for me on 1.5. Oh, it works fine. It just won't install if you don't already have it...
  14. Something seems to have changed in FF 1.5; I'll try to troubleshoot it later on (a bit busy at the moment...)
  15. If you don't have any luck tracking someone down, Al McVinish operates a fleet of four skydiving Caravans in Australia. He can be reached via the Ramblers DZ at Toogoolawah.
  16. An unlatched door was a contributing factor in a C208 pilot only getting out of a now-tailless aircraft at less than 1000' agl. Latches on doors are a good idea.
  17. Mike Forsythe is the Engineering Manager for Relative Workshop. If he's concerned about your skydiving, it could be deemed wise to ascertain why and alleviate his concerns. Or you could throw a hissy fit, though only one of these courses of action is likely to prove productive.
  18. It might be a DNS issue. If it is, try, in order: Open a command prompt, type "ipconfig /renew" (without the quotes) and press enter. Restart your browser, and try again. Turn off your ADSL modem. Turn it on again. Wait 2min. Restart your browser, and try again. Go into your ADSL modem webpage, run the diagnostic test and tell us if and where it's failing.
  19. Whoops. Could've been an interesting opening. Especially with all that pyro... Me, I've got my rig sitting beside my desk (it's 12:25 here), a sleeping bag in the car, and once I fill up the car I'm ready to roll...
  20. Go post in History & Trivia... some of the boys that hang out there have been at this for a long ol' time...
  21. It's a US holiday for US people in the US of A. Why would anyone else give a damn?
  22. Psah. The record for the Sydney->London flight is 52 beers, held by an Aussie cricketer, David Boon. They won the Ashes that year too.
  23. There are a couple. The biggest is York. They run a Caravan and apparently have absolutely spectacular DZ facilities, including a sauna. PM Squeak. He jumps there.
